They are well run, that's why we headhunted their commercial director.....to carry on watching the pennies at our place.

Burton fans have been proper classy on social media etc regarding this.

Nice to see after the Cambridge/Cheltenham/Carlisle reactions.
We were fine, we just think Mullin should be playing two leagues up, nothing more. Probably a fair assessment for Tozer, Palmer and o Connor too.

Yeah JFH has spoken on a number of occasions about acquiring young players to build up and sell for a profit. Burton have cleared out several 30+ players in the window and have a very young squad now. As a small club for their level it's a model that works for them and they're very good at what they do and very well run.
This is the type of model we are aspiring to achieve at that level, it is just taking the initial investment to drag us from where we are now. We won't be paying 6 figure fees for 30+ players when we are in league 1.

You (Not you personally) weren't/aren't, he still gets stick from fans on twitter and even had a Cambridge based journalist giving him crap after the Notts County game.

Why should he not get stick for putting money above ambition.

Though most would do the same, despite what most people say money is everything in most cases.

You'd have been a level too low sweetheart.
I’m sure we could’ve still spun it to sell you some rubbish:

“Hello Phil, it’s Paul Hurst, I’ve got an ex League One player who’s yours for a mere £750k”

“Sounds great Paul we’ll have him”

“Excellent - Lenny it’s your lucky day, pack your stuff and fuck off to Wrexham”

Difference is you can pull on 8,000 gates whereby we have to survive on 3,000 - which is why we have this tight model. If you can run lean once you have the right squad you will be a success.
Just need to replace that derelict terrace. Any plans ?

Yes plans are afoot. Nothing concrete (no pun intended) yet though.

Yes all the indications are that we will be building a brand new stand on the kop.Probably with safe standing areas. The club produced a questionnaire before Christmas asking fans what we wanted. I think it was 6000 capacity. Hopefully plans for the project will be out in the next 6 months.
It is also the clubs intention to buy some land and build a purpose built training facility. SH in a interview before Christmas suggested that more details would be announced in the Spring

It’s about time. Always thought it was a crying shame not to have a big terrace open full of home fans - even with shit facilities.
Rebuilding at 6000 sounds good - may also mean your used for wales games against a lower opposition in a group match.

It's a bit of a crying shame it's going to be redeveloped, and not opened as a terrace again. Sitting down is fine, but it doesn't half put the dampeners on the chat if there's a group of you.

Small boys, jumpers for goalposts etc etc

We've had Doug Tharme sign for Blackpool and return immediately on loan for the rest of the season. One hell of a move for the lad, can't say he hasn't deserved it. That's two players we've put into the Football League this transfer window, and us financially secure for a bit longer still after receiving a nice cut of Dion Charles' transfer fee too.

Another failure from our previous regime.

Good on him, always had ability.

Agents been trying to force through moves for our players all month. We stood strong though. Well done Wild and the chairman. We have good options now for the run in.

Nathan Ferguson has left, contract cancelled by mutual consent. Could see that one coming I suppose it won't be long till he turns up at somewhere else in this league. No doubt in my mind he has ability he just looks like he can't be arsed all of the time.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up here, with the Molesley connection and he was heavily rumoured to be joining us earlier in the season.

As had been said on Shrimperzone, might have a league club lined up and would have to be a free agent to move to a league club. Moving to an NL club and please correct me if I am wrong all, he could move as a free agent before 31st March, so wouldn't have to be released?

Probably our best performance last year and Ferguson's high point with us, with the worldly third goal.

Would’ve preferred to see a few different members of our squad leave before Ferguson, I think he is definitely of a higher quality than players such as Dunne and Ogogo.

Connor Stevens has left Wealdstone to join Boreham Wood for an undisclosed fee. There had been rumours about this for a few weeks now and it's finally happened, shame as he's been largely injured for the past 18 months but the allure of FT football and possibly being in the Football League next season is too hard to turn down. Fortunately from our perspective, centre back is the one position where we have the most strength in depth so not quite such a blow.

That's 4 players they've signed from us since the summer, paying fees for 3 of them. We've become their feeder team, urgh....

Craig Fasanmade has also left Wealdstone to join Hemel Hempstead Town in the NLS, also for an undisclosed fee. It just didn't work out for him here (or in the National League in general) but his loan spell at Hemel earlier in the season and last year at Hungerford proves he's more than good enough for the level below.

Well you were right, he's going to somebody else in this league...
