Matt Green signed for Yate Town. Be interesting to see how he does there, had a couple of games where he looked decent for us including our win over Fylde, but majority of the time was pretty anonymous at NLN level.

Jacob Butterfield the latest trialist to be signed up. Has the reputation of a crock but an experienced player is welcome.

Yeah I believe so. Absolutely shocking for us.
Players find it more difficult to perform to their best at bankrolled tin pot clubs. They're there for the money only, they don't care about the club. Clubs that are made up just don't have that soul. How do you even motivate yourself, the only thing stopping you being depressed would be the fat pay cheque.

That's why bankrolled clubs usually have to spend even more than they thought they'd need to, to get their desired result.

But when a player signs for a club like Port Vale, it's because they buy into the properness of it all. It's an honour to play for a famous old club. Playing for a club that everybody has heard of, which has always been on final score. You bust your balls knowing that you're following historic footsteps of greats, and take your moderate wage with pleasure.

I hope this explains why players are shite at Fylde and better elsewhere.

PS How's Hatfield doing?

You’re very naive if you don’t think most footballers do it for the money. You think they give a shit about Darlington. They don’t

Several of our players are members of the Darlington FC Supporters Group.

We aren't about the money. Players play here because their Dad has heard of "Darlo".

I wouldn't disagree with that with greedy footballers demanding pots of money. But then again it's the chairman that holds the power and the influence of the purse strings.

And let's be honest a hobby club like AFC Fylde your club chairman David Haythornthwaite must be haemorrhaging large amounts of cash in a seemingly uncontrollable way every season.

Just think when he wakes up! Ouch!

We've signed Brandon Hall from Hereford, looked solid in goal during trial.

Solid keeper in terms of shot stopping, good with his feet but his command of area is awful. If a corner is put into the 6 yard box he's flapping at it

19 year old Finlay Craske has joined Yeovil on a season long loan. He was out on loan at Plymouth Parkway last season, and had very good reviews. But that was a couple of levels lower. Mostly a defender, usually as a wing back, though can play midfield. He has featured in the pre-season games. A good season for him could put him in contention for our squad next year. He’s highly rated.

I looked the match report up he played RWB in the last ten minutes in the friendly against you. do you play wing backs or a flat back four?

Your manager used to play for us so doing us a favour I imagine, sounds a good signing for us.
Ryan almost single-handedly saved us from relegation from the league in 2009 when we were under the death-throes of Steven Vaughan.

Considering Lowe publically defended him it's likely he was the only one other than the brothers getting paid.

Fair play to Macc signing Nicky Maynard. That’s a ridiculously good signing for the 8th tier even if his best days are a fair bit behind him now.

I've spoken to people about that and there doesn't seem to be anyone who can say whether that's true or not. Ryan Lowe will always be a hero in my eyes. I will always remember the season when we were 2nd at the half way point and then went 23 games without a win and I remember the way he played when we beat Orient at Brisbane Road 1-0 before the losing streak started. We stayed up that season when we had a five-game winning streak at the end of the season.

Agreed mate.. Age won't matter as he'll get tonnes of service.. If he still the finishing ability, he'll score a bagful.

That’s always the last thing to go. We were linked with him a couple of years ago as he wanted to play closer to where he lives but couldn’t make the numbers work. If he wanted a club higher up am certain he’d have got one.

Some squad Macc have got together for the level in general. The way the club has just taken off has been incredible really.
