We have signed winger Yusifu Ceesay from Blackpool and CH Richie Sutton from Morecambe.
We know all about Yusifu as had him on loan twice, he will scare the shit out of NL defenders.
Richie Sutton is a vastly experienced defender who replaces young James Jones who we sold to Barrow.

Any thoughts guys ?

Their fans seem to rate him. Looks like Nels has left.
I liked Nelson but he was always going to leave at his age, I think he could still do a job in this league though. Wouldn’t be surprised if we try to sign Adam smith permanently from forest green as his replacement.

We’ve made our first signing, Josh Staunton from Halifax. Any good?

You got a good one there. We signed him as a centre half and he wasn’t that good there to be honest. Not really tall enough. However, as a holding midfielder he was very good. Very good ball winner and good long range passer. Better than his short passing in truth. Sad to see him go but wish him well

Sutton will be a sold CB at this level.

Anytime i've seen Ceesay he's been all legs and a lot of pace but lacking in end product.

A year in the NL at Alty will do his development the world of good.

We had Sutton on loan a few years back and he had no pace then but was a very reliable defender all the same. Should be a very good signing for a promoted side.

How good is Jones, by the way? I reckon he's been signed as a starter, though it is a big step up.

James Jones has the potential to go even higher. He is tall but really quick and his passing is very good. Not actually that good in the air but his pace and getting back to tackle people thro on goal are awesome. He scored 13 goals for us as well. Nice lad, just makes the odd mistake which can knock his confidence. If he is given time and patience he will establish himself, still a young lad. I hope he does well.

Someone on our forum reckons Stockport have signed ex player Robbie Evans, currently at Curzon Ashton (and indeed signed a new contract there)

would be an interesting choice of player to sign. he gives his all, no doubt about that, and i think his time with us was marred with him being 'one of our own' and 'the next big hope'

Could be true, Curzon Ashton being up the road we've got a good relationship with them and we could do with a bit more depth in midfield.

Rumours of Jordan Williams from Fylde are pretty strong. As said before, it's another area of the pitch we need to strengthen so the rumours don't seem out of place. There is talk that Nyal Bell could go the other way either on permanant or on loan. Bell did well for us in the North, struggled more at this level but he's still young and raw with room to improve. I think he'd do well for Fylde. With the signings of Richie Bennett and Alex Reid, he may have struggled for gametime as the central striker. Gannon tends to favour a system with a point striker and Bell has never shown much capacity to be able to play out wide.

Robbie is not really National League standard in terms of clubs hoping to do anything top-half related in this league (he was our captain for a while at 18 years old which says a lot).

Probably ok for squad cover at lower clubs down here but not for Big Spending Stockport I'd have thought.

Jordan Williams played as a left winger at Barrow when Richie Bennett had his great goalscoring season that earned him a move to Carlisle.

I've said many times on here, I don't think we'll even be in the top 7 of wage bills in this league. Our squad is starting at a much lower base salary wise than a lot in this division wth Notts, Hartlepool, Wrexham, Solihull plus a lot of London clubs who have big wage bills from what I've heard.

We've caught the eye with a couple of signings like Rooney and Jennings but it will take more than one summer for us to be a big favourite in this league.

You're forgetting that this league is garbage though mate, Barrow 75% FC just won it with John Rooney as their main man.

If Notts County get a proper manager who knows what he's doing at this level then I expect them to win the league, what with their 250k headstart on everyone.

I'm talking strictly about budgets there, not where we'll finish.

We were 7th before the lockdown last year with a mostly part time set up. Gannon is a good manager and our squad is stronger. I'm confident we'll be up there but it won't be down to having the biggest budget. We've closed the gap because of some investment but it will be down to how te squad gels. Our team last year was fairly limited at this level experience wise but after winning the North the season before, there was a great togetherness about those players. Our squad is better on paper now but there are a lot of factors that will determine how we go.

We've got a proper manager, we were nearer Bury than Barrow last summer and to get to Wembley and a Trophy semi final was good going from where we started.

He’ll be behind Rooney, Maynard and Keane in the midfield pecking order if he did sign but as you say a bit of a left field signing if true.

We Connor Dimaio out on loan at Curzon last season so maybe our staff/manager went to see him a few times and he’s stood out. Player’s player of the season so obviously had a good year.

John Askey's love-child Kieran Kennedy signs for York. Seriously a great signing at that level, if there's a better centre back than him down there I'd be surprised.

I wanted him to sign with us to play alongside Pearson as first choice centre halves. Can play right back effectively too and also pops up with a few goals.

I love the old ‘Stockport have a modest budget’ joke. Gets me every time!
So if you think Stockport's is modest, then wait till you see ours:sur:
Part time and only 11th highest in NLN and its not going up either !
We will comfortably have the lowest in the NL I expect/
Always best to get the excuses in early:gmc:

Ardley has his faults, but his management definitely improved as the season went on.

I’m pretty confident to be honest, kept the core of a good team together and one thing you can’t fault with NA and the Danes is their recruitment.

Richard Brindley signed a new deal today. Solid right back. Back up keeper Joe McDonnell turned down a new contract to sign for Eastleigh - little surprised he was offered something with Slocombe fit again but didn’t do much wrong when he was playing so should be a decent one for them.

Danny Kedwell signing for Hollands & Blair was certainly a transfer I didn't expect.

Keeping Lacey and Brindley is superb business. Both easily good enough for L2, Brindley especially.

You’re got the best right back in the league by a mile. My player of the season. Gutted to lose him

Normally sign players that fans say are shit and they turn out to be correct.
Looks like our manager has done his homework.
