A match for the ages this. Crawley second bottom having been smashed 5-0 by a mediocre Doncaster side in the last game, Barnsley looking to break a club record with 7 successive away defeats. This may be the only time in the history of football where both teams lose.
Of course the big news this week in League One was us getting shot of Danny Wilson, 13 months and a 50% loss record later. With this managerial change I'm hoping that for the first time in a long time we set up to win and win well tomorrow. No sitting back from the first whistle and hoping to nick a goal, no Waring up front on his own 20 yards away from the nearest team-mate, play our best attacking side and go for it. I'm not expecting for a minute that we'll do what Doncaster did, and of course Crawley have beaten us at Oakwell already this season so will not only want to bounce back from Tuesday, but complete a first league double of the season.
However, we need to win tomorrow as well. Badly. I do not want to think about the state of the main Barnsley forum should we lose (given there was a very mixed reaction to Wilson being sacked), but I also don't want to think about the state of our league position.
I'm not going to provide a prediction, but it'll be the first away game I've missed since October and after watching us lose 6 on the bounce away from home, it would be typical if we actually put in a good performance and won for once.
Crawley fans (if indeed there are any on here), what are your thoughts on the game? Are you likely to be as bad as you were Tuesday?
