Who will snap up this much sought after manager?

I reckon Swansea could be the right club for him if they part ways with Monk.

I can see him at Newcastle and/or Celtic in the future.

He'd do well at Celtic even when Rangers get back in the topflight. May even get to meet up with Guardiola again finally in the CL after saying that their meeting would be the first of many whilst he was briefly at Manoo till they disgustingly ousted him, but whats new with that despicable club... :hypo:

He can't be taking any more risks. Celtic would be a good bet. He could improve them in Europe and domestically he could get a few honours under his bet. Celtic are terrible defensively, something I think Moyes could sort out.

If anyone knows how that internet archives thingy works would be kind enough to dig up the op's post on TFF when 'the next Brian Clough ' went to Spain I'm sure we'd all be grateful.

How did the actual Brian Clough get on when he went to Leeds United?

TIA.

I can see him at Celtic too. Perfect chance to get some titles under his belt before a move back to the Premier League.

Judging how shite he's been in Spain (not to mention United), when Sociedad inevitably sack him it's likely to be more a case of what he can get rather than which team can get him. Might be an idea earning his stripes and bolstering his battered reputation back in The Championship. MK Dons might be looking for a manager soon, I'm sure even he'll do better than Robinson is at the moment.

It's not that bad. He'll be well sought after in the Premier League.

I don't think he was given enough time at United to be fairly labelled as shit.

I'm not labelling him as shit, I'm labelling his time in Spain (and to a lesser extent, United) as shit, which it has been. I read a decent article on Moyes about a month back indicating what a team can expect from him. It also mentions how he was struggling at Sociedad at the time, but things have obviously gotten worse since then and is due to be sacked in the next 24 hours if reports can be believed. It points out what I've been saying about him for years. He'll never be a brilliant manager. It was the main reason I always said United wouldn't go near him, why I was very surprised to be wrong and that they did, and why I wasn't surprised in the slightest when it went tits up.

Moyes is competent when it comes to setting up a side to compete, but his football teams are conservative and largely functional – even predictable. Ultimately, he lacks the inventiveness required to be a really top manager. We suspected it at Everton, saw it at Manchester United and we are seeing it again in San Sebastian.

He wasn't supported as he was promised in the transfer market which doesn't help anyone but he could have been slightly more adaptable in that case however.

Raved? Not quite, although I certainly believed he was taking Liverpool in the right direction at one point, shame it turned out to be a false hope. But any fondness for Rodgers fell somewhat short of your muscular hydrostat being perpetually wedged up the anus of a certain ginger Scotsman from East Dunbartonshire. How's he doing by the way?

I guess when your poster boy has shown a worrying lack of managerial ability since he left his Goodison comfort zone, you'll try anything for a bit of misdirection. I doff my cap at the attempt.

You must be confusing me with someone else. I thought he was shafted at Man United and that then taking the job at Sociedad was a huge risk and not one I would have advised him of, albeit he never asked me.

I just hope he doesn't jump into one of the car crashes in the BPL, either waiting for a decent club to become available, or hang on for Celtic which is surely due to come about by next summer at the latest.

Nothing I'm saying about Moyes here is hindsight, as you'd know if you'd been around prior to 1FF. Nice try though.

No confusion.

And Celtic might be a good idea, or would have been at least. After all, even he should break his trophy duck at a team that's effectively in a one horse race. Unfortunately, his timing isn't ideal, Rangers will be rejoining the Scottish top flight again next season.
