I'd much rather see us slip to mid-table than compete at the top end of the league again, as it is a complete and utter waste of time for us to get promoted under the current owners due to the complete lack of money (in Prem terms) they have.

I don't expect to do well anyway, as our form and morale is catastrophic currently, Farke seems to have lost the plot and there's a decent chance we'll lose several of our better players to Prem clubs anyway. And after our abysmal recruitment this season I don't trust Webber to get it right again this time.

I think they might go down next year but 14/15/16/17/18 is more realistic looking at the squad and their performances

An 11th place finish for us is beyond my wildest dreams but I hope you are right.

I'd be shocked to see us too far towards the bottom, but if we get the recruitment wrong and don't start well it could prove very difficult to get out of our current slump.

The reasons we won the league last season were because Pukki was pretty much unstoppable up front and because, despite our defence being porous as a sponge and then some, we could attack with pace and purpose with rapid passing up the pitch that most teams simply couldn't handle. On top of that, the team never gave up and kept going till the bitter end, pulling back so many results late on (whereas this season we've lost every time we've fallen behind).

Now, however, our passing game has slowed down drastically and is much more reminiscent of our disappointing first season under Farke. Worse, Pukki has completely lost his way since January and looks absolutely hopeless as of late, while his deputy Drmic is inept on every front. So if we can get Pukki firing again we should do reasonably well, but if not it's hard to see where the goals come from (I'd hope Adam Idah can make the step up at Championship level, but it still feels a year too early for him).

After that, much will depend on our ability to replace the expected departures of Cantwell, Aarons, Godfrey and Buendia at the bare minimum.

Norwich is poorly managed both by manager and board. If you look to Porthmouth , Swindon or Bolton they gone down from the "promised land" to the League 2in a few years. If Bolton goes down next year (cause 30 point deduction) they'll gone down from the Prem to Non-league in 10 years (!). Norwich maybe gets the same issue and probably goes down to League 1 in 2021/2022 or maybe even this year. Pukki wont do it probably.

All the clubs below are poorly managed, have financial difficulties or are not good enough. And it is "just" a mid-table finish

The last four seasons have been down, up, down, up.
Mid-table would be nice and boring, I'll take that thanks.

Huddersfield to go down trying to play pretty but ineffective football under their new "Head Coach".

Very early for predictions but I see Coventry were already playing a pre season friendly yesterday whilst the Championship season hasn’t officially finished.

Think it might be a very weird league this year early on especially, teams preparation is going to be vastly different between the playoff teams, those who know they are here and the promoted sides. And the points deductions - if any - of course.

Yes I saw that. They've also spent 1.5m EUR on a player from the Eredivise and signed about four others. They're getting their work in earlier.

Some Luton fans are predicting that we can make a push for the play offs next season - I still think that is a bridge too far unless there is a massive rebalance in squads this summer, which I can't see happening.

So seemingly, PL and EFL clubs couldn't come to a collective agreement to tap into a £1bn+ hedge fund lending facility that was offered to them at a low rate of interest.

Now I'm not normally someone who is in for debt and loans, but these are special circumstances...

Yeah we did well to stay up and showed playoff form to get out of the mire but you cannot expect us to do that over a whole season.

Reserve judgment to see who we keep and who we bring in but I’d be delighted with a season like Reading have just had. Never really challenging the playoff spots and never really in danger of relegation. That would be excellent progress for me. But let’s face it, anything out of the relegation spots would be an excellent result for us.

I like the business we've done so far, and I think Hamer will be a real steal. He's got rave reviews from the Eredivise and put in a very decent 45 yesterday against Rangers. We definitely need to strengthen in the forward positions though as we certainly do not have the first power to compete at this level currently. Would be delighted to finish anywhere above 22nd.

As for the game yesterday, sounds like we did pretty well. Held Rangers first team to 0-0 in the first half with our strongest possible side out (we were missing 3/5 of our back line due to knocks and a couple of midfielders) and then made 9 changes at half time and played with a complete reserve XI second half. Not a bad outing considering we're 10 days into pre-season and Rangers season starts next Saturday.

Think the big thing we'll have in our favour this season is that we have a very good defense and very solid defensive set up. In my experience teams that have solid foundations tend to do better upon promotion, but I'm still not going to get too ahead of myself. Going to be a long old season.

As terrible as our season has been, and even though we still have a game left, our early relegation has meant we've already been able to make a good start on preparing for next season. However, I think that will largely be offset by a good amount of squad turnover based on what Farke and Webber have been saying, and we're certainly seeing plenty come in already. The fact that the transfer window remains open for the first month of the season won't help us, though, especially if the expected departures don't happen early and cause rumours to rumble on.

Some promising comments from Farke in recent days about his intent to learn from this season's lessons and take a different approach next season, but I still have my doubts about his ability to learn from his mistakes. At the very least, we need to be much more solid defensively and to make a huge improvement at defending and attacking set pieces (not having everyone back in the box to defend corners would be a start) if we're to have any meaningful impact at the top end of the division.

Pukki is probably going and Farke is not gonna listen.

Thankfully, Pukki's form has been so poor since January that I don't think anyone is likely to take a gamble on him. Especially given that he's hit 30 and is probably going to start declining fairly soon.

Probably a team like Ajax, PSV or Genk sould bet for it. The Dutch and Belgian leagues are for youngsters and EPL flops.

Blackburn finishing above us, that would be novel.
