A valiant 1-0 loss for Dudelange at home to the might of AC Milan. If their final ball had been a bit better an upset could have been on.

Celtic was 1-0 ahead in Salzburg but in the 2nd half the Austrians don't take prisoners it seems, actually 3-1 ahead (and a red card for a Celtic player).

In the other match of this group Leipzig is 3-1 ahead in Trondheim

Easy for Arsenal with a 2nd string team - not so much for Chelsea.

3 wins for the 3 German clubs in the Europa League.

Especially the 4-1 of Eintracht Frankfurt against Lazio Rome is remarkable (they already won the away match at Olympique Marseille). OK, Lazio got 2 red cards but Frankfurt was already 3-1 in front when Correia was given a straight red, so this wasn't the main reason for the win.

Looks way better actually for the German clubs in both European competitions than last season.

Rennes and Bordeaux lost, Marseille drew after being 2 up. The joys of the EL!

Arsenal facing Sporting in the most interesting match tonight. Ultimately, with two wins from two puts both these sides in an excellent position in this group and a draw here will cement their positions. That what i'm expecting

Last post here was on October 25th. :eyes: I am already feeling like a grave digger here:

Anyway, I'll do it:

RB Leipzig lost 0-1 at Salzburg.
The Commentator said it's the first time ever that a German team lost both matches against an Austrian team in European competition (last season Dortmund draws and lost against them).

Celtic won at Trondheim, which is no surprise because the Norwegians didn't get a point so far. They are now 2nd in the group and only need a draw at Celtic Park against Salzburg to advance. That should be more than possible because Salzburg is already qualified and #1 and don't need to play with the best team.

Frankfurt on the other side is actually 3-0 ahead and could be the first German club that starts with 5 consecutive wins in Europe! At least some joy today!

edit: 4-0 Frankfurt!

Good results for the Old Firm with Celtic winning and Rangers drawing against Villarreal after going a man down. All to play for going into the final game.

LOL Leipzig. How stupid, unbelievable. Everything went for them. Salzburg with a win at Celtic Park (Congrats btw for a perfect group phase) and all they had to do is to bring the 1-0 lead over the time. They even had nearly a dozen big chances and then 4 minutes before the end the Norwegians score with only their 2nd chance of the whole game.

Pure arrogance from coach Rangnick to field a team without Timo Werner. He was the whole time on the bench. You deserve this, Rangnich, you Idiot!

Frankfurt on the other side with a first for a German club: Perfect group phase 6 Wins in 6 matches.

Yes, was quite surprised to see Leipzig failing to beat the group's whipping boys. Good news for Celtic though.
France didn't have a great spell in the EL but not shambolic one either. One club progressed (Rennes), one club was awful (Marseille) and one club tried very hard but results in their group didn't go their way (Bordeaux). We've certainly had worst campaigns in this competition. Hopefully, Rennes can go far and keep the French flag (I'm saying this ironically; of course their fans will wave the Britanny flag) flying as long as possible in this competition.
I fancy going to a game in Belgium in early February. Bruges sounds lovely.

After the trashing against City earlier will the confidence in Chelsea be a problem against Malmö?

I surely hope so.

Chelsea v Arsenal final?

Well placed for both sides although Arsenal's away form has been ropey - despite a win in Napoli in the last round.

Arsenal weren't bad for a half then their defence went missing and that isn't good against Hazard and co.

Chelsea again pick up a trophy despite not being very good and the manager potentially being sacked (if the media is to be believed) - even Rob Green was getting in on the act celebrating!
