Gillingham v Blackpool is a decent tie, surprised this one hasn't been mentioned.
I don't think fans of either side think it's a good one to be fair, the only passable interest is that it's the return to Priestfield of Steve Bruce.

Our game with Barnsley now confirmed for a Saturday 3pm kick off. One good thing at least from having this tie. Hopefully can be sensible with the price as don’t see it being particularly high demand.

With both sides having to agree the ticket pricing for FA Cup games it sometimes isn’t easy. Thankfully, despite Grimsby v Wealdstone being the ‘tie of the round’, compromise has been reached!

I’m sure a section of our fanbase will find something to complain about on it. Then again there’s some who would whinge if it was free. £15 is reasonable.

Stunned they’ve let it be the same day as Stoke at home considering Derby and Barnsley are the visitors to each ground mind.

They have got the whole ground open for what will be a very low crowd, as that is what you get now for cup games. We probably should shut one of the stands but if they do people moan about that.

Being the third Saturday in a row we are at home will likely be low I would say.

Oddly after this Saturday we dont have a Saturday 3pm Kick off at Vale Park in the league until the weekend before Xmas!

4th, 5th and QF rounds????? I think I've heard of those.

Interesting £50k more guaranteed to win on round one. Not to be sniffed at.

@notts fans, any reason you’d be 3/4 to beat alfreton at home? that’s pretty good odds, and would’ve had you at about 1/4 or something in my head. might be worth a punt.

Mixed side?

We usually put out a completely changed team for the cups, but Maynard did come out and say we will be putting a strong side out.

We’ve had a tendency to play ridiculously weak line ups in the cups over the last two or three years, so I imagine it’s people knowing that and thinking there was a bit of value in Alfreton if we do it again.

I don’t think we will this time, though - we don’t have loads of players available anyway and no midweek game either side, so there’s not really an excuse to go weak. Maynard can’t really get away with an embarrassing cup defeat in the way that Williams could either.

I agree we seem slightly long - we’re longer odds to win tonight than we were to beat Harrogate in the league last week which doesn’t seem right at all.

Home to Aldershot, should on paper be a straight forward win to get us back on track alongside winnable league games before we play the big hitters next month.
Hopefully an opportunity to start the likes of Corry Evans and Huntington as well as to rest Andy Cook. A no excuses 3-0.

Artell made a good point yesterday in that if Grimsby were drawn away to say, Stevenage or Northampton ( he didn’t specifically name these clubs) from the league above we wouldn’t be particularly worried. Same surely applies to Wealdstone. We should win, but by no means guaranteed. Not much in football is to be honest

Watching the game on BBC. Artifical pitches should be for training/community purposes only, looks awful.

Just about say the same thing. That’s what I’ve always said I dreaded most about us having to play on them if we found ourselves in the conference. The ball just doesn’t run or bounce right on them.

You guys are 100% right, there's incredible variance with them aswell in terms of bounce and skid, and lots of links to increased injury. Horrible things

Not to forget the horrible reflection of the floodlights the pitch seems to give!

When Rovers were in the NL, there were certain players McNulty being one, whose medical history meant it was too much of a risk to play them. Dislike them and they seem to give the home side an advantage.

Fast forward to tomorrow afternoon and Micky Mellon’s Oldham featuring up to 6 ex Tranmere and more on the back room staff. MMs sacking rather than let his contract run down does not seem to have been a wise call given what’s happened since and suspect Micky will get his side up for this one. Rovers missing Brad Walker suspended for punching a Crewe player and youngster Josh Williams loaned to Southport for a month, reducing options. Adkins needs to find his best line-up and formation rather than chopping and changing to try and match the opponents. Anything could happen but nobody in the SWA will be surprised by a Latics win.
