For those of us still flying the League 1 flag in this competition.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35450502

A great day for Town and into the fifth round for the first time since 1991, but so frustrating that these big time charlies can turn up in the FA Cup when they put in such woeful showings in League 1. :dis:

Well done to Posh for a great result at The Albion today.

Tottenham's class showed against us in the end today. We were unfortunate that the sickening injury to Alex Wynter inside the opening minute left us with ten men to begin with, and Alex Gilbey having to drop in at centre half. We couldn't get going and were being run ragged a little at this point, understandably, but were pretty resolute in shutting them out. Then Tom Eastman obviously hadn't recovered from the collision with Wynter either and had to go off too, meaning both our first choice centre halves were off, and we had 20 year old Frankie Kent alongside left back Matt Briggs as our central pairing, who can't even defend at full back, let alone as a centre half.

Bearing all that in mind, I'm surprised we stayed in it as long as we did. The first goal was a good strike, but we came out pretty well after half-time and started to get on top. A wicked deflection put them two up though and that was always likely to be that. Sordell missed a bit of a sitter to make it 1-2, and Spurs went and scored another deflected goal to make it 3-0 and put it out of reach.

Well Done to Salop. Hope you get a decent home draw in the next round.

Thrilled that we managed to hold West Brom at their place.

Hoping Berahino gets sold in the window to give us a chance of getting through.

First 5th Round draw we have been part of for almost 30 years!

Result of the day has to go to Shrewsbury. Lets hope they get a decent draw in the next round.

I fancy P'boro to see off West Brom in the replay.

Loved how Match of the Day last night gave huge focus to the supposed penalty that Wednesday should have had, but failed to mention the other cast iron one that we should have had in the second half. And also the fact the lumbering number 9 should have had a second yellow for shoving our full back over at a throw in, which the ref saw and gave him a telling off. Anyway, what a great win! After the Oldham game that was totally unexpected, but one thing about Shrewsbury is that we're consistently inconsistent.

The Red Shite at home, nice easy game. :cool1:

One of only two of the current 92 we've never faced in a competitive game (Spurs the other) so it's good from that perspective also.

Fuck me, we have had a shit run in this.

We always play West Brom in the cup, and always play Reading too.

WBA were shocking against us in the capital one cup so I expected you to get something and surely will fancy progressing at home

Can we beat West Brom at home? If they have an off day and we are on from, yes probably.

Can we beat Reading away, yeah I suppose we could.

You never know!

Guaranteed to be on tv with United at home! Let's hope we perform better than the Grimsby cup ties on tv!

I imagine that is the Friday night game sorted then.

Apparently Manure are playing in Europe on the Thursday so not unless that game gets rearranged, more likely to be Monday night I would think.

Great and well deserved draw for Shrewsbury and who knows a replay is certainly possible.

Great to see Grimmer score the winner, criminal we didnt re-sign him on loan last season with our defence how it was.

Might need that for a promotion out of league 2 next season

Indeed, let's hope 2002/3 doesn't repeat itself but I fear it will.

So far this FA Cup run has been worth around £330,000 in prize money and TV fees, so assuming the Manure game is shown live (as they are 99% of the time in the FA Cup) that will push it's worth to around £580,000 before our share of the gate receipts is taken into account. :)

I love it how people get all excited about how much money they earn through cup runs like its actually going into your own pocket. All that ever happens is the chairman keeps it simple as that.

When our club has been reporting losses like we have for the last few years this plus the £2million that will eventually be received in transfer fees for players that have left since last summer is very good news for the long term future of the club.

However, as 3Loggerheads has pointed out, sadly it's just likely to make us one of the richest clubs in League 2 next season.

When I were a lad all we talked about was the forthcoming cup tie, could we win and wow we might get to see Georgie Best or whoever.
Now folk talk about how much money the club is going to make ! How times have changed, and probably not for the better !

Let's be honest. There's no United player at the moment which could be described as "Exciting" I take your point tho.

It's 2002-03 all over again - we had a good cup run, beating Everton and then going out to Chelsea, whilst simultaneously going on a terrible league run, culminating in relegation to the conference :ffs:

At least it's only league 2 this time :conf:
