I don't watch football often, But I took my Son to see USA Vs England yesterday at Wembley.

About 3 minutes before the match was finished, the announcer declared the 'Man of the Match' over the speaker system.

It was right in the middle of the action (one player trying to fend off 2 other players).

is it right to make such an announcement before the match has even finished ?

ie:
What if there are TWO possible considerations for who is Man of the Match; and they choose the CURRENT best player. They make the announcement and then the OTHER player does something AMAZING. Then surely he should be Man of the match and the decision was wrong.

Why cant they wait 3 minutes till the Whistle blows?

Imagine a game of tennis; and during the 'final' game they announce the Man of the Match.
But then the loser suddenly plays amazing and turns the whole game around and catches up and wins.
Then the decision of 'Man of Match' was wrong.

With all the accuracy and rules in the FA, surely this is really bad to call out a decision BEFORE a game has even ended ?

To be honest, its also a bit distracting for players.
if a player is mid-action and hears that they are (or aren't) man of the match, it may distract them for a 'crucial' split second.

You watched England v USA, as England were at home.

And no one really gives a flying fuck to be honest, I can understand why you don't watch football given the above post, now if you would kindly not talk about it either I'd be grateful.
