Well - last time I started the match thread when we were at home, we won 2-1 - so hoping this will happen again.

After just beating probably the 2 top teams in L1 this season 2-1 & 6-0, we should really be looking to beat Oxford by 4 or 5. Sercombe hattrick too.

On a serious note, tough game this - hopefully the clean sheet will do us the world of confidence. However, no Bodin which is worrying, although we did score 5 goals after he went off last week so lets see - has anyone got an update on his injury?

Thought i'd be nice too and to the Peterborough fan a favour, "Rovers are probably the worst team in the division and certainly relegation fodder - expect them to get thrashed again on their home pitch, just like we did on 12th August 2017 - in case anyone wasn't aware, click here for the match report.

I was getting worried, thought I’d have to start a thread and we know how those go....
Bodin is a big miss but I still think we’ll win 2-1 and continue our annual ritual of putting Oxford back in their fucking box.

Obviously a tougher game than Northampton and Bodin will be a huge loss. I'd stick with the 4-4-2 diamond and put Telford out wide in Bodin's place.
High scoring 3-2 with a late Liam Sercombe winner from 30 yards and celebrates in front of the away end.

Having seen both teams this season I expect a resurgent Oxford to easily dispatch a very poor Rovers team who have done well to beat various bottom third teams in their relegation battles, but will and have usually come unstuck against anyone half decent.

Presumably by finishing below us again?

This will be a really close one between two evenly matched teams. The game could ultimately come down to Liam Sercombe being one of your best players, which means we are much fucking better.

3-0 Ox.

I was thinking about this and i'd feel more confident we'd beat Oxford if Appleton was still in charge, this one has an air of mystery about it so is a dilemma for me. We have to draw at some point this season and I wouldn't be shocked to see this be the case this time around.

Personally, if Bodin (as seems likely) isn't available i'd consider moving Sercombe further forward in the diamond and bring in Sinclair. Would be very narrow but has been working for us recently. As per usual DC team lineups, anything can happen.

Out of interest, how many L1 fixtures would leave you shocked if they ended in a draw?

I'd be surprised if we ever managed to squeeze a draw against a prestigious team like Peterborough.

Me too, especially considering the fact that Rovers have been our complete and utter bitches since they managed to claw their way out of non-league. At least we agree on something babber.

Surely Timid Tommy Nicholls must get the nod considering how good you lot think he is :2thumb:

I suspect the ex player syndrome will strike. Sercs will be motivated for this no doubt so I expect him to score at least 1.

If our forum is anything to go by then Ryan Ledson wasn't impressed by Sercs alledged tantrum about Wembley and subsequent events so will be equally motivated. Both have been known for making "interesting" challenges so could easily be 2 red cards as well.

I reckon 2-1 to Rovers with Sercs getting 1 and a red card.

Not overly happy with Lockyer back, by I thought he’d do it. Also not a fan of the 433 formation, I thought the diamond suited us much better so let’s see what happens today

Please maintain appropriate levels of bluster

I always find it safer to be pessimistic. :)

A lovely result and happy for Alex Mowatt to get his 1st goal.

Also, Gassy can you do the match thread when we play you at our gaff?

We played brilliantly first 25 minutes. Oxford gradually grew into the game and we didn't come out 2nd half. Probably a fair result though Oxford couldn't have complained with a draw.
Have to say the ref and lino opposite the dugouts were dreadful. For both teams.

Only saw the second half as bloody iFollow wasn’t working properly. 2nd half looked quite even - just a trio of poor defending separated the sides from Broadbent, Bola then Lockyer.

The most disappointing part was after going a goal down, our heads really dropped - in added time we had no urgency at all in our play and looked quite deflated, I’m sure DC noticed that though.

We move onto a bloody tough game at Shrewsbury next week!

Rovers edged the first half I thought, second half was pretty even, we took our chance and for that at least we deserve the points, decent game between 2 teams who should be close to the playoffs at the end of the season

Had a really good day out it Bristol afterwards too, what a turnaround we've had recently

How did Timid Tommy Nicholls get on?...don't tell me...ran around a lot whilst just failing to make the challenge every time? He expect he just needs a goal still.

Two bites on here from you to a comment that was barely fishing, I expect better “babber”, you’re losing your touch.

As for the game, I thought we were the better team in the first and Oxford were the better team in the second. Fair play to Oxford, an excellent away performance, sucked up pressure and showed resilience in the first half and then showed what they could do in the second. A draw could have been fair but I don’t begrudge the loss, and to be honest I didn’t come away feeling gutted yesterday because we didn’t play badly and there was no lack of effort, just got beaten on the day.

Ellis Harrison was our bright spark, looked a real threat early and often and for me has turned a corner, I thought a lot of the game changed when we had to take Ollie Clarke off, but it was the right decision to remove him, he was dangerously close to a red. Gutting for Broadbent for the goal who hasn’t put a foot wrong until now since signing from the army, but will now know that there are times in the game that you just need to clear your lines, he’ll learn from that.
