Do Morecambe have any fans on here?

Anyway, at least 7 debutants for us, quite unheard of for a promoted team. Expecting a 5k opening crowd with 3k in season tickets sold. Think we'll concede but have enough quality to win.

2-1, Bogle and Summerfield with the goals.

I remember beting Crewe 1 - 0 think it was 2001/02 when we won our first 3 games 1 - 0 to go top of the Championhip for a few hours when Lennie Lawrence was manager.

Actually, just remembered that match when Peter Bore came off the bench against Boston (I think it was his first appearance for us) to turn the game around by scoring 2 and setting 1 up. That was at BP on the opening day of the season after we lost at Cardiff, so 06/07.

We're serial slow starters and Morecambe are fancied for a relegation scrap. Not a good combination for our first game of the season. It seems like one of those cases where we could come out of the game with a lot of pressure lifted or a lot of pressure mounted, due to the very volatile mindset of our fanbase. I think we'll do okay though. A comfortable home win.

Hiya mate
Will be keeping an eye on your results, feel sure you will acquit yourselves well and wish you a good season. Think Morecambe will struggle and I will be sorry if they do cos they are more than local neighbours.
2 - 0 to you lads

hi buddy, reckon your lot might be dark horses this season and keep the momentum going to a play off shout.

Diz is out tomorrow. Got a bang on the head in our penultimate friendly so apparantly not allowed to play for so many days, due to concussion.

As for first games of the season, we have won only 2 since 2006. 1 at home v Boston (2006) when Peter Bore came off the bench to overturn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win and away at Crawley in our first season in The Conference when we won 1-0 there. Crawley went on to piss the league that year and little did any of the near 1000 Mariners there that day realise how long it'd be before we got back up.

I'm going for a 2-1 win tomorrow. Bogle and a Shaun Pearson header with the goals.

Interesting to see if Bogle can make the step up this season. He'll need to be a quick learner.

We must have been 2-0 down when Bore came on because he scored two and set one up, didn't he? All in about 20 minutes, I think?

Also, yep. I remember thinking after Peacock's freekick went in that we were gonna piss that tinpot league after going down to the red hot favourites for the title and winning in our first match down there.

Reckon it'll be a draw tomorrow. 1-1.

I think he was on about Fleetwood being dark horses in League 1, myself Oakroader and Codaplenty used to all post together on the old Blue Square Premier forum, Codaplenty being the forum gent without ever saying a bad word about anyone.

You are indeed correct SoC. Bore scored the 1st and 3rd goals and the 2nd came from a free kick that PB won which was eventually scored by Isiah Rankin.

hi g4e...
wonder what happened to thekiddykid, neilybabe, trannie, and the others??
Yeah i was hoping Kiddy would win the league that year as Kiddykid seemed a really likeable guy and most of the Mansfield lot were (cough) not.
And then the forum disappeared so poor old Neilybabe and Trannie didn't even get the chance to gloat about Cambridge's promotion!

Ah, the mention of momentum threw me off. I assumed that was referring to us and not a side who was in a relegation battle. Must have meant the momentum of surviving?

Good god Morecambe were shit. Kayden Jackson, Ben Davies and Danny Andrew all look immense signings. Really good start and an incredible atmosphere, just to re-iterate though, Morecambe were Fucking dreadful.

Sorry Morecambe, on that evidence you've got a long hard season ahead of you. Your 130 odd fans credit to your club today but severely drowned by our lot. Good luck your gonna need it!

Kayden Jackson was on another planet today, reminded me of Michael Reddy chasing lost causes then cutting back in, Morecambe's number 5 shit his pants every time the ball went near him.
Can't wait to see Davies free kick again on goal rush tonight, from the Ponny it looked superb.

Come on that's a compliment, they were utter feckin shite, they look bottom 4 conference standard.

All the above really good plus Vernon and Berrett. Unfortunately I don't think Bolinwara and Luke Summerfield are footballers. The former has the first touch of a buffalo, he probably should be playing on the wing for Leeds Rharnos or Bratfud Bulls. He is enthusiastic though - worked hard. Summerfield is a bit of a street fighter but doesn't look like he is going to dictate the play at all and McAllister a littel anonymous. The ball was pinging around in the air more than I expected given the perfect conditions. Still best start for more that a decade +2 goal difference...

That is ridiculously harsh on both players. Granted, I didn't think they were great today but how many games have you judged them on?

Standouts for me today were Jackson, Gowling (until the red) and McAllister. After the first 15 minutes, it looked like it was gonna be a cricket score as Morecambe couldn't handle Jackson.

Morecambe overall were poor but I thought Ellison was decent. Our defence was very shaky and if Morecambe were a better side, we'd have conceded a few today. Top finish from Ben Davies though!

Yeah our defence is shaky, by that what I guess I mean is that Boyce looks an absolute bloody liability.

Dead harsh on Bolinwara by the way, he took us up the pitch numerous times and looked good to me. Berret was good but he's just not a winger.

Jackson though, what a brilliant player he is. We've been looking for a player like this for years.

Ben Davies is ridiculous and we missed him today. as I've said before he won't put in less than a 7 out of 10 all season and will be a 9 for the most part..

Great performance today from the new look Mariners with only 2 Wembley winners starting today.

First win on the opening day of the season at BP for TEN years.

I'd be rather worried if I was a Morecambe fan as without exaggeration, that could have been 6 or 7 today.
