Has it? Even the biggest games now has fuck all responses. Have we, the spine that was TFF, finally packed it in?

I personally have been checking in for months, to read, but I rarely every contribute. Did TFF prosper on the old school integrating with a keen generation of younger posters (at the time)

I remember when TFF died, and we were 50 strong in a stupid what's app group, and while it may sound stupid, the fact we had somewhere to go, with everyone that I knew have me a massive satisfaction.

I've met people because of this site, made friendships, know what people are going to write before they write it, know how people on this site mean what they do write.

Seriously, if we're dying out, then let me know so I don't bother typing in the url anymore. Just let johnnytodd back imo.

Just looking at the numbers...in terms of active/logged in users, we're about where we've usually been for the last couple of years.

In terms of number of posts made by those users, the last 6 weeks - 2 months have been noticeably quieter. Prior to that (the early weeks of the season) again we were about normal for the last couple of years. And prior to that the summer was good, what with the World Cup.

So that suggests that whilst the number of visits to the site remains fairly consistent, there has been less engagement with the site just recently. That's something to look at. For my own part I've not been around here (or online in general) as much for the last month due to real life, but I'm back to normal now.

I think it's fair to say over time the old TFF gang has thinned out, the trick is always going to be attracting 'new blood' over time.

Just let johnnytodd back imo.

He's still here and posting occasionally, just under another name is all, and is about as subtle as ever!

1FF always seemed to get quieter the further up the pyramid you went. I don't venture outside the League Two forum much, but there never seems to be much going on beyond Leagues One and Two and the Non League Forum.

Right now, we have

Non League Forum - 18 viewing
League Two - 12 viewing
League One - 6 viewing
Championship - 5 viewing
Premier League - 3 viewing

I wonder if it's that the higher up you go, the fewer talking points there are. Everything in the Premier League that could be discussed has already been talked to death on MOTD, Sky Sports News and Talksport while clubs are run as multi-billion pound businesses and events off the pitch are about as interesting as a corporate merger. The characters are all a lot more professional and less interesting than some of those lower down the pyramid too. Jose Mourinho, feted by the media as the most unpredictable and interviewable man in football is as dull as ditchwater in comparison to some of the nutters we have managing clubs down here. Mourinho will mumble something about how they should have won. Nathan Jones claims Luton are the best team in the league despite finishing second to Accrington while Danny Cowley cries because the pitch wasn't watered and Keith Curle rocks up at a press conference with a brick he picked up in the car park and some lipstick.

Championship forum has gone massively downhill in the last two seasons.

Barely any decent discussion apart from arguing about attendances now and then.

There's plenty of OG's still checking in, they just don't post. I'm guilty of this too, just a browser most of the time.

Internet forums in general are dying - these younger people use twitter, Facebook and insta to do their trolling etc.

Hardly any chat on the Premier league forum really - even about the big games!

It’s the quietest I’ve seen it, and I’ve been blighting the community in one form or another since 2004. I don’t claim to know the cause(s), but it is kinda sad. N&CA, which has always been my main hang-out, was very lively circa 2016-17. Now it’s pretty much dead.

It does seem to be dead on its arse. I think having a single match thread for each lower divisions is quite obviously a shit decision. No doubt it's caused a lot less traffic to other areas of the forum too.

Edit: I don't want to scroll through a two year old 118 page thread (not even exaggerating) to find out what happened in Port Vale's last game. It's common sense

The short answer is yes, bar two or three reasonably active forums.

Unfortunately, there's little point in exploring the issue further because such concerns tend to fall on deaf ears whenever they're raised.

Can you print this on a banner and fly it over Grimsby? They all seem to have a fetish for single match threads over there.

Saltire being made a MOD was a big reason for the collapse of the Prem forum.

Deleting and amending posts etc.

I'm sure if he was banned there would be an avalanche of new posters according to JohnnyT on another forum.

1FF.net has died an even greater death. Just seems to be the prediction leagues there keeping it going. Their League 2 general chat thread has only had one post this season. Cumberland SHD, one of the mainstays over there hasn't logged on for 27 weeks.

The lower leagues certainly have been forgotten about on that site although a few more post in the League One section.

But the Premier league forum is a bit busier.

The lower league sections have. The Championship, PL, General Off-topic and Current Affairs sections are 10x better than here though

I do feel like Palace boy in the respect that I want to scream my dismay as the inactivity of a massive Prem game struggles to get 2 pages. Never would have happened on TFF.
When I joined it was great fun. You had the old guard (mainly LF), great banter between Spear and Herms and us European guys creating loads of stuff all the time (Euro Mania springs to mind with Allouso, ADP, Emmett, Scipio, etc).
People move on unfortunately but there are still posters that are on here and I look forward to their input (mainly Rammy and LeeWilson). I always deplored the lack of matchgoing fans in the Prem forum and to me this hasn't changed as we lost Smudge (I think) but have a couple of Huddersfield and Wolves guys who attend whenever they can and that's cool.
Plus in Europe, we have the lovely German to keep us entertained.

The activity is not great but I ain't leaving.

Good to hear, I would hate it to lose one of the rare members here with a real interest in Bundesliga football.

-The lovely German
