Ever since the implementation of 3 points for win many have mused on what happens to the third point when there is a draw.
Perhaps the SPFL has found the answer in the group stages of the Scottish League Cup.
In order to streamline the competition it was decided to dispense with extra time and replays in the knockout stage and to go straight to a penalty shootout in the event of a draw.
It seems this decision has been extended to the group stages where in the event of a draw there is a penalty shootout with the the winner of the shootout getting 2 points and the loser 1 point.
Perhaps this could be implemented for all league games?

I don't have a problem with this but it is solely to get a winner and save time in a competition which is time limited & to try and give the game a bit more excitement. The time factor is probably to do with more games, including qualifiers, being played in the European scenario at the start and possibly into the first group of league matches. However I don't agree that it could/should be implemented for the league championship as that is not a knock out competition and is more of an endurance test where both teams could play well over the 90 minutes and 1 point apiece is deserved moreso than the lottery of a penalty shoot out. You could say the league is a game of chess compared to a game of draughts being the league cup.
