A guid dram
Was just wondering what you lot spend on average on your alcohol; whether it be how much a week to get pished when you go out or stay in; how much you spend on your favourite tipple now and again, or a bottle of wine with the wife; or are you more selective in your spending as you seek out new spirits, wines and beers as the price goes up and up.

I'm actually cutting down on my actual consumption of alcohol even though I seem to be drinking more whisky now. As my circumstances have changed and most of my friends have moved away from Dundee, I don't go out and get bladdered on Peroni/Budweiser/SoCo/shots etc any more. I'm becoming more of a whisky anorak seeking out new bottles of highly rated good quality single malts and I have a dram or two over the course of several hours two or three (at the most) days in the week, watered down if its cask strength to cut down on the heat in the alcohol and to bring out the nose and flavours more. I've started spending near £50 on single bottles and might just begin to push the boat out on stuff thats even more costly as I get more into appreciating it.

Anyone else love to appreciate good quality alcohol; if so, what do you look for; or are you just a bunch of pissheads!?! :D

What's your tipple Steve, I figure you're a craft beer kind of guy with a Bailey's at the side.

Cheap 5% cider in large quantities and slightly classier lagers mate!

Just like Hank then. ;)

That's right! The only difference is that two of my favourite lagers are Italian and Japanese and Hank wouldn't be seen dead drinking a non domestic lager.

Hmm, maybe about £50ish a week? Sometimes less, sometimes more. Will probably be more if I have A BIG NIGHT OUT but those are a rarity these days.

Bollocks mate

My booze consumption levels vary from week to week (I've calmed down a lot since a few years ago) and I prefer the ol reefa when in doors as the alki makes me wanna be out and about. On the occasions that I do drink in doors I tend to stick to what I know and that's Courvoisier. Nothing beats a good vodka when I'm out though, recently discovered New Amsterdam and must say it's an exceptionally smooth - and strong, just the way I like it :gr: - drink.

Varies massively. Some weeks zilch but other weeks can go a bit haywire, £100-200. On itself quite manageable but it's all the little things that go alongside a session. When you get the devil then logic has a habit of getting twisted. Can be far too easy to go out and blow circa £400.

I'm not really a drinker although saying that but I can smash it with the best. I just don't particularly understand why some people like to drink throughout the week and even more on weekends. That kind of behaviour is going to bring unwanted issues. Much prefer to be chill with a smoke throughout the week instead. I've come across some lovely pollen stuff recently which you can essentially crumble without even having to heat up. So much better value than green too, a week's supply equates to £30 which is where I want to be at for a vice.

Hmm, enjoying a quiet pint or two during the week may become an issue but blowing circa £400/week on booze might be considered perfectly normal behaviour? Erm, ok!

Few pints a week I'd say, go out and have a couple after cricket games on saturday's then the odd drink in the week when I feel like it. When I was at uni I'd say I probably spent about 10 to 15 quid on pre drinks and 30-40 while out.

Probably around 100 pounds per week. Mixed case of wine between me and my wife topped up by a few purchases. If either of us get to go out the spend goes up significantly.

Average week about £20 at the pub quiz and maybe drink £10 worth of booze at home. Possibly a bit more as I have spirits occasionally.

Then I'll have the odd night out spending 50 or go for quieter drinks (20-30).

If I go to the pub it's pretty much just pints of Guinness now, can't be arsed with lagers any more. Between those nights and clubbing (during which I'll generally move onto rum or whiskey), I'd say it rounds out at about £40 p/w. Been a bit overzealous the past month though. :err:

Don't drink much at all now, especially during the summer when there is no football, but still like the occasional glass of wine. I like both red and white, and try to drink decent stuff as a treat. A bottle of Sancerre can run me £15-20, or if I'm on the red, a nice Bordeaux, preferably St. Emillion. Usually spend about a tenner on a bottle, but a couple of Christmases ago I did spend £120 on a 2008 Chateau Barde Haut, which was a bargain.

Also like single malt, prefer the Speysides, though not an expert like Salty so usuallu stick to the 12-15 year old stuff around £30 a bottle.

You can get pissed very cheaply these days - lower your standards and save yourself some money, lads!

Also drink alone at home, it's great.

4 pints of cider in the pub Sunday and Wednesday at £3 a pint and 4 cans of Stella at home on Saturday so under £30.

A friend and I who work near each other go out once a fortnight and usually spend around £30 or so on having a few lagers / whiskies.

Excluding that, perhaps around £7 a week buying a bottle of wine. I have a little bar which has a couple of kinds of gin, a couple of kinds of rum, a couple of kinds of whisky, and a few other bits and pieces, so every now and then I'll spend a bit re-stocking or replacing something.

Something that obviously makes a difference is where you live. The drinks in the Wetherspoons near my friends in Birmingham is literally half the price of the bars near my work in London.

I don't think I drink especially responsibly but some of the figures quoted here are just absurd. £250 a week?! That's a fucking grand a month! What the fuck?! And then there's a nonchalant £400?! What kind of bar is that?! Some of you need help.

I don't go out too often so when I do it's a Shalamar vibe.

Generally make it a quarterly outing so I make that 1600 to your 2580.

£250 is a minimum generally mate. £40 on a Monday,Wednesday,Thursday. £60/70 on a Friday, over a ton on a Saturday and £50 on a Sunday is roughly the average spending. Fuck knows how anyone can spend over a ton on a day out cos I can't physically sup that much but I do spend it.
