Strange one for me. He can do no more for them in the league, and I doubt he'll be the difference in Europe. Be interesting to see what it means for their other forwards.

Are you kidding? :eyes:

He is one of the best players in the last 10 years.. This year he has scored 44 goal.. He is the most popular soccer player in the world.. do you have an idea how many fans in the world will buy their shirt?

Who gives a fuck about how many shirts he sells? The point is they win the league every year so he's not needed for that and he won't be the difference maker in Europe. So its a lot to spend just to potentially increase your Serie A winning margin.

No where near enough. Shirt sales have always been overblown. They've just spent 100m on a 33 year old with probably another 90m on top for wages. It's a great deal for Real Madrid I think.

I respect your point of view.. but.. We don't talk about a normal 33 year old. He is perfectly intact, has still 3/4 years at very high levels..

without counting the important increase in commercial revenus.. Juventus will grow again as a society.. it's a deal for everyone

His wage has been reported as 500k a week. If true that's mad.

Granted he's not a normal 33 year old, but it can't be denied that age is already catching up with him. He was actually subbed and rested last season, unheard of prior, and his role has changed. He's certainly not as athletic as he was. And I can't think of anybody who plays his position at 35 years old being anywhere near good enough to warrant that kind of money.
That's 2 years away. Not sure I can see him leading Juventus to European glory as a 35 year old. And then he's still got 2 years to go.

What increase in commercial revenues? It's not going to be a net increase with that transfer price and his wages to factor in.

Bit ridiculous by Juventus. Real had the better end of the deal for sure. Just sold at a profit a player they spent a lot of money on 9 years ago. Wikipedia has him on 450 goals in 438 games. Trully amazing.

No idea sorry, not sure how active our Italian users are. Lake Garda is lush though, so enjoy that.

Italian football is at a strange juncture. Juventus are super keen to leap to the stratosphere of market-transcending sports brands. They have the best players, most money and most success. Now they've spent the most money on the best player to get more success, and be even more marketable. On the other hand, Bari and Cesena have just gone bankrupt.

Isn't this the worst nightmare of what we thought could happen in English football when it went money mad? There needs to be some intervention.

Wikipedia has Serie A kicking off on the 19th. Strange that the fixtures still aren't out. It's in a month almost to the day.

It's kicked off today and some really good games. Juve had to work for their win at Chievo. They won 3-2 after being 1-2 down. In the other game, Napoli came back from 0-1 down to win 2-1 in Rome against Lazio. Some really nice stuff played by Hamsik, Allan, Callejon et al.

The Genoa sides had their games postponed for obvious reasons.

It was a great game. Still thought that your front 3 had an off-night (well, Milik is very dependent on Callejon and Insigne) and that you would have won this easily if they had played at their top level. Once Zielinski (what a player he is) scored his goals, Insigne stepped it up a bit but Callejon was shit from start to finish.
Milan can't have too much complaints really. They scored 2 wonderful goals but did nothing else. It was just passing it about inside their own half. Thought Higuain could have done better on a couple of occasions.

A great add for Italian football.

I advise you to stay in the area of villa borghese / pairoli.
it is not far from the airports, it is well connected and close to the stadium.
Enjoy the match!
