Tragically died aged just 40 due to a long term kidney condition.

A real super star and legend who introduced the game to so many with his pace and power.

His performance against England in 1995 is one of those iconic moments in rugby that won't be forgotten.

Legend is to often bandied about, but Lomu defined it, a man who changed the modern game into what it is now. Always brilliant to watch, probably the most entertaining player that has played the game. Lovely bloke off the field too.

Shocking news. Really was the first superstar of the sport.

The PS game was legendary as well.

Probably the first true icon of the game. He revolutionised wing play and was still a very good player even after illness took it's toll on him. What makes him all the more remarkable is the fact that despite all the ill health he still did so much for charity. It was only a few months ago he was here in the UK doing a charity run. He even visited my cousin's long term partners place of work and did some amazing work with the charity. The guy deserves all the credit in the world for his on field and off field accomplishments.

Heard this late last night and was utterly shocked by it. Not a great rugby watcher but I remember seeing him in the 95 world cup take everyone on on his own and was almost unstoppable. So sad what happened to him with his kidney conditions that forced him to quit the game too young and of course be the death of him at only 40. Tragic.

Very sad. I assumed he was older - perhaps because he was a star (not to mention a giant) when he was still very young. Not really a massive rugby fan but still have very vivid memories of him terrorising England at the 95 World Cup.
