Horrible news that one of the greats, John Hurt, has died at 77. Always liked him, a magnificent actor; and that voice...

The Elephant Man used to scare the crap out of me as a child. It's a film you never seen shown on TV anymore, I wonder why? Maybe because it's in black and white?

Anyway, sad news to wake up to.

I forgot about that; he was horrifying in that role, particularly for THAT scene. Seen I Claudius so many times, but may have to look it out again now as a tribute

What a great actor he was and, as you said Salty: What a voice!!

One of my favourite actors who starred in so many brilliant films including Midnight Express and The Elephant Man. Didn't realise until earlier he was in well over 200 films and his characters died in around a quarter of them.
