We are at least 7 players short of a squad and our first competitive game is in 6 days time. It’s nice that we’ve been placed no lower than 10th and our first 11 as it stands would be good enough but after that we would struggle below conference level.

We have the highest squad turnover by a considerable distance so I have no idea with us!

We still need at least one forward, preferably two to give us extra options. Otherwise a lot rests on Hopper and Scully. IF we can get Morton and Palmer in from WBA on loan as striker and keeper that would be a good start for the remaining 4/5 possible spots.

We won't be anywhere near the top 2. Since the end of last season we've lost from our starting 11 - McGeehan, Seddon, Burgess, Ross Mcrorie and haven't added anyone to the pool. We also got rid of our only other LB Haunstrup, backup strikers Hawkins and Pitman. We have Raggett as the only decent CB as Whatmough has had 2 serious knee operations and Paul Downing got dropped after 6 games as was frozen out. Bryn Morris didn't play at all last season, but looked fit in the playoffs, so that potentially offsets McGeehan not signing. We have no senior backup for LB or RB and only 2 senior strikers - Harrison and Marquis. Unfortunately our high wages bill and fairly big squad is causing us issues as we are right at the top end of the £2.5m salary cap with only 3 senior spaces left.

As it stands we’ll do well to stay up, hopefully a takeover (with a legitimate owner) can take place in the next week or so to give us a chance.

I genuinely have no idea with us. Half of our signings are the same players that led us to just surviving last season, while we've lost one of our key players in Gilbey and as of yet not replaced him, yet the mood around the club is pretty positive. Arguably our best signing in Keogh (dependent on how he recovers) won't be about till December time it's stated as well so we could honestly finish anywhere.

Depends how many of those are going to be in your final squad list.

I'm pretty sure you can have a squad of 55 if you want, but it's only those included in the final squad list that count towards the cap.

Im not sure that’s the case, the entire squad had to be below the cap including any extras like bonuses etc. You can have as big a squad as you like, just stick below the cap.

My best guess for those going up:

Sunderland, Bristol Rovers and Oxford

Play offs : Blackpool, Fleetwood, Ipswich and Peterborough.

Going down.

Rochdale, Crewe Wimbledon and Northampton.

Pains me to nominate ourselves for the drop, but based on what we are told from the Iron Curtain, it's almost inevitable.

We have now had to move our cup game against Huddersfield due to problems with our new pitch. It's rumoured that the contractors were on the point of walking out due to constant meddling by a member of our Board/staff, which , together with the weather, has put things back considerably.

There are squad limits this season, though - 22 players? In L1, U21's loan players or U21 permanent players don't count towards the squad limit or salary cap.

Asked the question and for this season only, as a transitional measure, any senior players not included within the squad list are excluded from the salary cap. So if you're like Portsmouth and have a bigger squad of senior players, anyone you want to move on can be excluded from the squad list and not impact the salary cap. They obviously can't play and still need to be paid but it offers some flexibility against the cap.

This season is going to be an interesting one. I honestly cannot see an obvious runaway side, nor beyond a Peterborough and Fleetwood (with possibly ourselves to a lesser extent) as obvious candidates for playoffs or automatic.

The sides coming down are in far from brilliant shape on the whole, the likes of Portsmouth have destabalised their squad and there doesn't appear to be any dark horses who will be in a position to take the next step. We are in for a peculiar season me thinks!

All aboard HMS Piss the League!

It’s a sub-standard league imo. A lot of clubs have dumbed down. Nobody seems to have ‘gone for it’.

Looking at the PO games nobody can be ruled out for a tilt at promotion.

Far more so than last year. Though I don't think any of us would be saying that had the salary cap not been introduced/the impact of coronavirus not been so prevalent.

Sides will be far more reliant on youth/squad members/cheaper untried options. I personally think it will make for an intriguing season at the expense of finance.

What’ll make the difference is squad depth. Those with maybe a superior first XI but dross replacements will struggle. A squad of just above average quality will do well.

See you put a lot of thought into who would be in last place! If you really wanted to wind us up you should have put Oxford on top.

I'd be happy with last place - we don't even make it through to the end of season :surr:

We're less bad his year, but not that less bad!
It's a poor league again and I get the feeling there's a real sense of optimism around your club. It's a bold prediction but then who had Wycombe getting promoted last season?
