Looks like we are getting closer to signing Ryan Hardie from Blackpool. He really loved it down here last season for the 2 months he was here and scored 7 goals in 13 games, completing 90 mins just once.

Suspect there will be a fee involved, 200k I’ve seen on twitter.

You have a bit of cash to splash then. Weird how you couldnt offer a better contract to Josh Grant as I heard you were in for him as well?

Managers know the worth of a player. Presume Lowe thinks Hardie is worth it and Grant isn’t.

Looks like we’re signing Diallang Jaiyesimi after having him on loan last season. Terrifically talented player, albeit inconsistent. Upgrade on Anderson for sure.

I'll try and answer your questions to the best of my ability. 1. Regarding the manager ( GC ) Yes i believe he was told that but i believe there were significant reasons why. He was getting good results on the pitch but by god it was bloody awful to watch. He was'nt thought of as the man to take us forward. 2. With regards to funding -- You must have seen where our owner has come into quite a large amount on the death of his father. So yes we have acted with regards to that in strengthening the squad early and writing off all the clubs debts. We are also actively building a new state of the ark training centre as i write and are in negotiations for a site for the new ground. So i would think our owners are fairly rich. Of course it can all go tits up as have happened at clubs in the past -- But something tells me ( hopefully ) it won't happen to us. 3. When does "Economic sense " matter ? When a club is half way through a season and in the bottom three ? .I don't know. One thing i do know is the Third division is going to be really competitive next season and without a decent squad clubs will struggle. But i take your point -- Better to have a club playing in some capacity than no club at all.
Thank you. Personally, I am a bit sceptical at the moment of any club spending money, but I understand your rationale.

I am a bit surprised too. As per Josh Grant, suspect we would not offer three year contract, but more importantly we heard was that he wanted to be nearer to Londinium.

Also Josh Grant was ok (usefulness as a versatile player made up for apparent lack of any standout area to his game) and Ryan Hardie was great for us. Strikers who can finish that instinctively are a far rarer breed.

Confirmed. 3 year deal

very happy with this. If he lives up to potential we could be cashing in on him for big money in the future. Very unpredictable but gets bums off of seats type of player. Upgrade on Keshi for sure (although I did think Keshi improved a lot this season)

Good news, hopefully he can stay fit!

We've signed Conor McGrandles from MK - seems his contract was terminated by mutual consent. You guys in financial difficulty or was he actually out of contract? I thought you would have wanted a fee. No mention of how long the contract is.

He any good? Looks quite slight to me but presumably fits with Appleton's more skilful, passing philosophy.

There's rumours of difficulty from a couple of places with no links to the club but we've had 4 major sporting events throughout lockdown and a hotel full of all the competitors, tv crews and everyone else to go with it so I honestly can't see how we won't be one of the clubs to come out of this stronger than most. Especially if we do have an idea on the percentage of fans allowed in stadiums, because anything around 25% will be basically business as normal for us.

I'm pretty pissed off that we haven't got a fee for him. I have to imagine we have a plan in place though, Conor is good yes but he's certainly not irreplaceable. If freeing up his wages means bringing back Ben Gladwin or bringing in Jordan Flores for example, I don't think I'll be too unhappy. All we can do is wait and see though.

As for Conor himself, he's relatively decent. He'll work hard for the team and will probably win you a ton of fouls all over the pitch (most of our penalties in League 2 were won by him throwing himself to the floor) but he's very thin and certainly not an aerial threat, which a quick browse on social media and your forum seems to be what you want.

We are still used to Cowleyball, which followed a load of awful football, which followed Keith(Alexander)ball. It will take a while for us to get used to playing the ball on the deck and "passing about with it at the back". To be fair, Appleton tried it last year without really having the players for it, and we kept getting caught out. Hopefully we can sign players who know how to play the style he wants. Sounds like McGrandles fits that template.

He's good with his feet and can tackle hard, which given the amount of time he spent on the floor after receiving challenges was quite funny. He'll certainly give his all and he is a likeable character on and off the pitch. But as I said, he's not irreplaceable and considering he'd fallen slightly out of favour I'm hoping that this move is the start of a larger plan for us.

We've resigned Ben Gladwin, and I'm immediately over losing Conor McGrandles. Gladwin is the far superior attacking player so presuming he's over his horrific injury problems we've arguably made one of the signings of the summer. Even at 50% fit last season he was brilliant.

Luke McCormick signs for a 3rd time. We have a highly rated young keeper in Mike Cooper who will start this season. McCormick is obviously seen as the perfect back up to him.

Yeah. He never really let us down when he played. But Wellens wants a keeper who can distribute to start off attacks. Not really McCormick’s forte.

Fryers signing new contract
Isgrove ditto
Grant ditto
Iandolo ditto
Woolery looks like he’s off - never really produced.
Roses’ agent playing silly buggers like he did with Yates

Wellens hates Keshi Anderson. No wonder he wanted rid.

Think we’ve got a couple of ex Lincoln players on trial - Chapman and Pett

on his day Ben Gladwin is a Rolls Royce of a footballer and was excellent for us the season we got to the play-off final. He deserved his Big move to QPR but I think injuries scuppered his progress.

he’s one talented footballer and could boss league 1 if he stays fit.

Can't say I know much about our latest two signings.

I thought Ethan Ross would be coming in as a number two, but reading the Colchester views they seemed to think he'd be sniffing around being number one there this season so perhaps he isn't, although I'm still half expecting us to sign a more experienced 'keeper.

McGrandles was excellent when he came on at SB the season before last (if he's the one I'm thinking of) and looks to have similar attributes to Morrell, who was on loan from Bristol City last season. Seems a bit weird for MK to release him and allow us to pick him up on a free, I thought they'd have got something for him.

Appleton hoping to have another couple through the door by the start of pre-season on Monday.

McGrandles was recovering from an eye injury when we came to you in league 2 so it wasn’t him. And we’ve said we released him because it was a good move for al parties. He wanted to explore the Lincoln option, he hadn’t been starting for us in the last month or so and I suppose we needed somebody on the retained list to leave so we could bring Gladwin back. I still would have preferred a transfer fee but it’s the sort of move we make regularly enough to be nice to the players/clubs. Not a stance I like but it is what it is

Charlie Goode wanted by Middlesbrough and QPR, just short of his valuation so far apparently. Fuck Warnock.

Twitter reckon we’re after Billy Bodin.

Hopefully, either injured, or anonymous, conning some fans with a good 5 minute spell here and there.

Championship is a step too far, looks incredible in pre-season though...

Yeah, I'd be surprised if that rumour is true tbh.

He signed a one year extension at the start of last season so think he'll see out his contract/ try to earn another one.

You couldnt afford Bennett a number of months ago, let alone Billy Bob who must be on a fair whack at PNE.

I think gasheads saw the best of him though.
A lot of months ago, tbf - circumstances change. Anyway, it’s one to be swerved.

From the local paper this morning, it seems like those we released and could potentially have brought back have sorted themselves out. Bostwick and Eardley were ones we'd have had back but as I've just said in the L2 forum, our squad building is going in a different direction now anyway.

Good chance of players heading out as well.

Hoping for two more in before the start of pre-season on Monday.

We have signed another; Striker Jonah Ayunga from Havant & Waterlooville for 5 figures.

Conference South Golden boot winner. We are very light up top so this is a welcome addition.

Shaping up nicely...
