Well, when everyone else is snapping up a few players to fill places, you are building a pretty good team. Presuming your owner is throwing money at you, how is he going to answer the spending cap if it comes in?
I think there's going to be a real top and bottom half of next season. I believe players who come in before a certain date, don't count towards the cap. But apparently we are still below last season's wage structure as we released a few high earners, who probably shouldn't have been on that much.

He certainly threw money at us in terms of wiping out the internal debt he's built up, but I think out playing budget is supposed to be in the rules. For the first time in many years we're finally looking like we're moving forward as a club, rather than just bouncing season to season on squads.

Signed Frank Nouble, Colchester had to let him go as they couldn’t afford to offer him a new deal because of the virus

And now confirmed on a 2 year deal.

Hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself. Had great talent when we had him as a teenager but was much too lightweight for the National League. Capable of amazing strikes from distance, but seems like he's still not the strongest or most combative type of midfielder.

We have signed another; Striker Jonah Ayunga from Havant & Waterlooville for 5 figures.

Conference South Golden boot winner. We are very light up top so this is a welcome addition.

Shaping up nicely...

He struggled in the National League for Sutton in 18/19. On his day he looked dangerous and he scored a couple of beauties, but for large parts looked either off the pace or disinterested. Perhaps due to a lack of confidence.

He did have a great season though in 19/20 so hopefully is more confident.

Franchise fans, what is Ben Reeves like? We have him on trial.
He was excellent 3 years ago, but this season he was a chairmans signing rather than a managers signing and he rarely played, be that through injury or not being picked. A shell of the player he was in his first few seasons with us.

I've seen you have George C Williams on trial too, if he can get back in form he could be a very good signing for you. It's a shame it didn't work out with him when he was in his third spell with us, because his second in 14/15 was brilliant before his injury.

thanks Dippy.

Wellens has a bit of a history taking punts on players that have had a bit of an injury history so perhaps fancies his chances with these guys.

We have taken Jonathan Mitchell on loan for a year from Derby. I see he has been on loan at a few clubs in L1 and L2, any fans able to add any insight?

Neal Eardley...any good?
Signed today with us.

One of the best RBs I have seen for us in an Imps shirt. Was fantastic for us in the NL and brilliant for us in Lge 2. I felt he wasn’t quite the same player last season in Lge1 but he will always be a legend at the LNER. He is a great professional and deserving of a contract without doubt. I think he would have been offered another one here if it wasn’t for the financial problems caused by Covid. I doubt he will let you down, a good signing for the Brewers.

Good signing, consistent and steady away. Fantastic in L2 but for me struggled a bit last season - didn't seem to have the energy to get past the winger and push forward. Great delivery into the box and good positioning. Rarely got beat by an opposing winger. Right time for him to leave for me, 31 and with Aaron Lewis who has done well in fleeting appearances he deserves a shot as first choice RB which means Neal had to be moved on.

Best trialist we've ever had and a lovely guy as well. All the best to him.

Excellent signing. Certainly one of, if not the, best RB I've seen in a Lincoln shirt.

Ironically enough, having been a full Welsh international himself, our back-up last season was a Aaron Lewis, a Welsh U21, so as we're looking a little more more long term with signing younger players it probably made sense to give him some game time and let Eardley move on but I think he'd have stood a chance of another deal if it wasn't for Covid.

Not blessed with pace, perhaps caught out a little more in L1 than L2 as you'd expect but positionally he's outstanding. There's rarely anything last ditch about him, he always seems in control. You could put him at LB and you'd not notice the difference. One of those genuinely good, intelligent footballers who makes the game look easy - you can see why he spent most of his career at PL/Championship level and a full international player. Had it not been for a bad injury to both of his knees at Birmingham he would have spent more time at that level. Testament to him as well that having only played 30 games in 5 seasons before moving to us, he was then able to play 140 in 3 seasons here.

I was expecting him to turn up at a Bolton/Bradford location purely because location wise that would suit him better.

Another 3 year deal offered and accepted by Taylor Curran. Could be a big season ahead for him.

Amazing how clubs have found dosh to buy players but couldn’t afford to finish the season, if there is a second wave of covid-19 (which the government seem to think there will be) will these clubs cry poverty that they can’t afford the testing and finish the next season abruptly.

Fair do’s bringing in free transfers on small contracts but this could be one absolutely horrific season in the lower leagues if the second wave hits the country, no fans reduces income massively and another possible season of curtailment unless testing is funded by PL or EFL. Basically make sure your team has the best start next season when voting decides our fates.

Forgot about this lad! Surprised he’s managed to find another League 1 club. Hope for your sake he’s second choice keeper.
