Any Luton or Lincoln fans able to give some opinions on Alan Sheehan?

Someone on Exeweb who’s gotten stuff right in the past has said we’re in for him. Is he a left back, or can he play CB?

He only played one game for us, the last one before lockdown so Luton fans would be able to give much more of an opinion. I think he mainly plays at CB

Centre half. He did play a couple of games for us at left back this season but it was in a pinch as he doesn’t have the legs for it anymore really.

He is hugely respected here for his leadership and widely credited for playing a big part in keeping the team together when Nathan Jones left in the middle of the League 1 season. At times it felt like a combination of him, Mick Harford and Alan McCormack where managing that team and most Town fans would like to see him back at some point in a coaching role.

On the pitch he was Defensively solid but could get found out against bigger centre forwards as he isn’t big as centre halves go. As I said he’s not quick. If you play out from the back (which the Exeter I remember us playing certainly did!) he is great because he is very good on the ball and can pick a pass brilliantly, not afraid to carry the ball into midfield to change things up and is ok with being pressed high. Takes a superb set piece which is interesting for a centre half!

If you’re going with a young team next season he’s worth having around just for the leadership alone IMO.

Cheers. Pleased he plays at centre half as we’re so light there. And the fact he sounds like a real leader will be a huge thing for us as we really lack characters. I’m now hoping that has some truth to it!

Well he’s definitely a character in the dressing room. In the press he doesn’t say much but on the pitch it’s obvious players look to him. Worth saying though he hasn’t been a regular since the League 2 promotion season so not sure how much football he has left in the legs!

Being linked with ollie Hawkins from Portsmouth, would be happy with that signing, but no doubt we cant offer him a decent deal

Has this one got any truth?

If we’ve just signed Valdaine Oliver from NTFC, and already got Jon Akinde, why would we be after another big target type striker?

Evans Bingo:
1. Spoke to 'insert name drop - Sir Alex/Martin O'Neill who recommended the boy.
2. The boy turned down several more financially lucrative contracts elsewhere to come here.
3. I have the lowest budget in the league.

TBF Steve Evans has been pretty decent in the transfer market since he’s been here.

We definitely do have a bottom 4 budget here (glad of that in current times) and despite only signing enough players to have a minimal squad last season (18 or 19 in the squad I believe) he got us very competitive. And there weren’t many “duds” in the players he signed. Most were at least very capable even if they didn’t pull up any trees.

Be interesting to see who we end up with this season. 2 signings so far but still only have about 8 on the books. Plenty to come (if football re-starts).

Only going on what I've seen on the rumour sites.
We still need at least one more striker, as akinde and oliver are the only 2 on the clubs books, I expect hanlan will move on like the other players we offered deals to plus if he hanlan did sign I would like to see him used as a winger as his finishing as a striker is awful.

Edit- salford favourite to sign Hawkins, they will blow most teams out of the water over wages

That he has, I just enjoy his interviews.

He only made one appearance for us, the final game before lockdown, and if we're honest, he was terrible and gave a penalty away for catching a cross under no pressure but it'd be very unfair to conclude anything from that! He's clearly nowhere near as bad as that normally.

The only thing you could really glean, as the Luton fans said, was that he's not the tallest for a CB so would probably struggle against taller strikers and wasn't the quickest either.

Looks like we’ve got Lewis Page on trial. Left-back who left Charlton this summer.

Regarding the signing of Oliver I am not that upset to see him go and very happy we didnt offer more than we thought he was worth. Nice chap, worked hard and was physically imposing. But the team was set up to rely on flicks etc.

In terms of actual football ability hes very limited. I wouldn't expect more than say 6/7 goals a season out of him. For someone that plays the majority of games that just isn't going to be enough. If he is purely a link man for Akinde then its not as bad, but I think if you are not playing extremely direct then you will get frustrated with him.

We have taken Jonathan Mitchell on loan for a year from Derby. I see he has been on loan at a few clubs in L1 and L2, any fans able to add any insight?
I thought he was a decent keeper a few years ago, but seems like he's stagnated since.

Personally I think Sheehan's legs have gone, as much as it pains me to say that.
His performance at Reading last season was absolutely terrible - mistakes completely out of character.

Seem to remember the ref being a disgrace and ur lot falling over all match conning him just like Wycombe done every time they took a lead but that’s all history now, we weren’t great that match either mind which didn’t help and you did deserve the win tbh, i don’t want anyone to go bust but weighted ppg was a disgrace and judging by how the Prem and championship turned out just proves it. I just hope that any club who does go out and spends money doesn’t pull the skint card and we can’t afford testing if that’s what it comes too. Us included.

What do you mean by that?

Considering how aggresive Peterborough are both behind the scenes, in the transfer market, on the pitch and in the media, how about an applause for them hitting nearly 3,000 season tickets sold so far! I really can't comprehend my shock at their supporter's enthusiasm.

We’ve agreed a deal with a midfielder, just hasn’t been announced yet.

Me too which is why initially I thought this was nonsense, but our journo has confirmed it and now we're being told it's around £250k with a decent sell on fee. They've had our pants down if that's the case

EDIT: 200 thousand pounds. Fuck off

I’d ask all cash on delivery, no guarantee Charlton will be around or have money to pay any instalments.

Maybe it isn't just yourself who is Dippy?
Again, like a few other clubs, I really don't understand what direction MK Franchise are really going in at the moment...

Is Winckelpicker short of the readies? Maybe needs a quick sale due to lack of income from the corporate facilities at Stadium Mk at the moment??

This is the thing, looking in myself I can’t see how we aren’t in a relatively ok position considering all the sporting events at the stadium over the lockdown period, yet outside reporting keeps claiming we’re completely broke (they always seem to do that though)

I’m still raw at this deal though, there’s something very wrong if we’re selling a key component in a promotion chasing squad (words of our goalkeeper literally this week) for what is basically peanuts. If £200k is true the sell on fee better be massive.

What sporting events were on during lockdown? Everyone must have missed them.

Lewis Page will be a good signing if we can get him fit. Big if!

If he gets through the trial without breaking down you will have done very well.

We are.

Will obviously be selling some of our own for a few million to fund this with the "owners" pocketing the difference I'm sure.
