Ricky Holmes confirmed. Says he’s been training with us for 7 weeks and is finally fit. One of my favourite cobblers players ever so I’m buzzing and will be even if we only get one game out of him.

Same. Holmes than Bayo for me, still think that 2015 was lightning in a bottle though, dont think we'll get that 30 yard volley again, but real good to see him just the same.

Joe Lumley, a keeper from QPR, joined us on an emergency loan the other day.

He’s going to be absolutely fabulous.

Was brilliant for us but we have the best keeper in L1 now anyway

Andrew Surman in on a short term deal. Assume it's to cover for the likely 3 month absence of Louis Thompson with a hamstring problem. Whatever the reason it's a fantastic addition at this level and lets hope that the club can get the finances to work and extend until the end of the season.

That's the 3rd(?) 30+ Bournemouth player to drop into L1 in quick succession I think.

Mark Pugh at Shrewsbury looked great on Saturday when they were allowed to play in our half. With Dave Edwards (Ex-Wolves) they have 2 excellent players that have played at a much higher level. Sadly being wasted based on what I have seen.

Stoke have recalled Bursik so at the moment we only have Louis Jones as a keeper. We have apparently got a Championship keeper lined up but not sure if in time for Saturday

How can you sign anybody other than OOC players?

Weird to have a recall at this point, out of the transfer window? Usually January.

Stoke have lost their first and second choice keepers so no choice really, we’ve got Joe Lumley on a 7 day rolling contract (don’t ask, I’ve no idea)

We had him recently on an emergency loan when Bonham was out for a week or so.
He was very good.
Commanding and confident.

1st year youth team player Ethan Brierley has signed a 3 year pro contract on turning 17. The article on the club's website says he's been in the youth system since he was 7, so presumably is due a testimonial this year...

He's a midfielder, like most of our youth graduates, and played well in the three Tinpot Trophy games he started this season.

What do clubs need this January?

For the Imps first of all i'd like to keep the outgoings to a minimum, Grant may be one to go if he's not interested in signing a contract extension (no idea if he is or isn't) with 6 months of his contract to go.

Incomings:

Has to be a number 9 - we've relied on 1 all season and Hopper needs a challenge as well as allowing Appleton to change it up at the top.

I'd like a more defensive minded CM as we can't seem to keep Bridcutt on the pitch for consecutive weeks.

An out and out left back willing to take the position and keep the shirt as between Edun and Melbourne they haven't really although in fairness Edun is a CM.

Easy, a goalkeeper then a left winger (given Sims is out for 6 weeks and Southampton want to sell him - championship bound) plus another striker and like Lincoln not lose anyone other than Sims

We just need to not lose anyone. I think we'd accept any offer with a decent sell on % for Ng and Wintle though, as we'll lose them both for nothing in the summer.

I'd take a 20 goal striker but I don't think they'll be many of those going in January... I'm very happy with Mandron for his overall game anyway, even if he's not exactly prolific.

Can't disagree.

I think a ST and CM are more of a priority than at LB. At least if we have three who can do that position with varying degrees of success. If we lose Hopper or Bridcutt that's all we've got.

I'd be surprised if Bradley and Lewis were back with us at the end of January so they'll leave again one way or another. I'd be tempted to let Howarth go out and get some game time if we have to balance the books and if it means getting a proper LB, I'd happily sacrifice Melbourne as well.

Loan wise I don't think we'll see any change with Gotts, Palmer and Eyoma but Johnson will be the most likely to be recalled. I'm not sure he will to be honest but he's the one we're most at risk of losing.

The only gaping hole we currently have in our side right now is that we need another natural winger as we really only have Powell in the side. Kirk and Dale are more wide attacking midfielders and, seeing as we've lost Ainley for the next 3-4 months, we probably need the extra depth up top to really push our players further.

Believe Murphy was signed in anticipation of Wintle being sold. The two can't play together as they're so similar. But Wintle wouldn't need to be replaced with a new signing although he'll be a huge loss to the side. If Lundstram is still injured long term however, a young holding midfielder on loan could be an option for us to have as extra squad depth. If Ng goes, we have Offord, Beckles and Johnson who can play RB. Until a month ago, I'd have wanted another CB to cover for the injured Daniels and the seemingly on their way Lancashire and Nolan. But Lancashire has been outstanding since he's been put back in the side and he's like a new signing.

We are expecting a relatively high (by mid-season standards at least) a fairly high turnover of players, however I do sense those ambitions have been quelled a little by our recent upturn in form.

Mark Sykes - He will probably go. Six months left on his contract and seems to have ruffled KR's feathers... I haven't really understood his role since his signing. Assists and goals are lacking for an offensive-minded midfielder and he hasn't signed a new deal.
John Mousinho - As much as I like JM, his knee is made of glass and he can't play much, if any football at all. There is a chance he may retire to make way for someone more reliable in January.
Joel Cooper - Gone back to Linfield on loan for personal reasons.
Rob Hall - He isn't playing. Technically he's outstanding, a proper player. KR is insistent he can only now play in the number 10 role. I'm convinced he can still operate as a high quality League One winger. KR isn't. With the reduction in squad numbers next season, I can't see him being kept on as he is getting 5-10 minute cameos every other game.
Jamie Hanson - Has been out injured/played a bit-part. He and Rob Hall are the most likely to remain. He's also likely on good money so I can't envisage anyone would take him permanently.
Simon Eastwood - Lost his place in the team. Six months left on his contract, if an offer comes in he will go by mutual consent or transfer to a club up north I should imagine.

Our outgoings are going to dictate our transfer dealings by way we only have one more over-age squad place remaining. I would expect us to make moves for Gavin Whyte and Marcus Browne again, the latter for the 47th time in 18 months. KR loves him; he's perfectly suited to OUFC too. He can play on either flank, central midfield and up top. He is also exactly what we need; Championship football hasn't been favourable to him and top end of League One is probably his level too - He plays and stands out in this league. Gavin Whyte was brilliant during his time with us too, even if it was for roughly a season. *If* both signed, offensively it would be a season changer. One is possible, both? Highly unlikely.

We will also sign a centre half, that's a given. I would imagine it will be someone in their early 20's. KR loves his loan signings so I doubt it will be permanent.

Wow being given a lecture on your ill discipline by Joey Barton is like being given a lecture on how to raise your kids by Fred West.

We're in talks with Jorge Grant and Harry Anderson over new deals.

Grant is out of contract at the end of the season and it sounds like he'll remain here until at least the summer and not be sold in January even if he isn't going to sign a new deal.

Anderson has a year option on his deal so not as much of a priority but I suspect we'll be keen to tie him down soon rather than later. Crazy to think he's only 23. The last remaining member of the 2016/17 squad.
