Just seen this article linked on our forum:

I have so many questions:
1) How are we Pompeys rivals in any way now we’re in the league above?
2) The three signings are all for the academy aged 16, 16 and 18. How is that article suggesting they’re actual proper signings?
3) Why is a Portsmouth fan site updating them on the incoming academy transfers of a team in the league above?

Very odd.
1. We're not
2. Beats me
3. No idea

Just one correction. This is actually our local rag not a fan site, which makes it even worse.

I had exactly the same thoughts. I can't see how this has any relevance to us at all. The only thing I can think is that they are desperate to fill space this time of year. Normally there is some link, e.g. an ex-player or a local lad is involved. This has none of those components.

The local journos have had an oversized interest in Ipswich goings on recently, which I think stems from the Michael Jacobs transfer incident a couple of years back. I thought it would end with your promotion. It's unhealthy and needs to stop.

Wouldn’t mind Connor McGrandles at SJP…we need lots of midfielders.

Portsmouth News are the worst for those clickbait headlines that get picked up by Newsnow.

Peterborough Today are another, Sunderland's local rag was terrible for it as well when they were in L1. Bristol Post go through phases of it as well.

We've been watching Glentoran winger Aaron Wightman.

We seem to like the Irish market at the minute and obviously see some value there - 7 played for us this season, a few are in the youth system, Irish manager, spoke to Shamrock's manager last summer before appointing Kennedy, tried to sign Trai Hulme (went to Sunderland) and McNally (went to Oxford).

Rumours about Michael Jacobs, just released by Pompey. Played under Caldwell at Wigan

Ryan Broom has apparently agreed a deal with Fleetwood.

He was never signing a new deal with us and, to be honest, I'm not sure how much he's going to be missed. I love Broomy but you get the impression he thinks he's a lot better than he is, and he's definitely playing for the money now (again, I don't begrudge any player this)

I saw that 'he had agreed a deal at a League 1 club' and was wandering where he was going

As you say he definitely thinks he should be playing higher but I couldn't see any of the bigger clubs signing him unless it was backup

We need someone in the mould of Houghton who was in midfield for Plymouth. Big, strong and always in the refs ear. We lack presence generally.

Butterworth released by Blackburn… wonder if we will go for a permanent there especially now Wilson has gone.

Looked quality first half of the season up until the Plymouth win where he was unplayable but dropped off with the rest of the squad after that but certainly ability there.

I don’t blame yous for giving him the chop. If it was an Ipswich player doing that after being beaten 6-0, I’d be fuming. It’s unnecessary really and a kick in the face for the Charlton fans who travelled that day. Was multiple tweets too so it wasn’t an accident.

All that said, he’s a proper diehard town fan. When he signed he told the story of how at half time all his career the first thing he does is get his phone out to check our score. Can’t be too many players like that. Spelt the last day of the season in the away end at Fleetwood apparently rather than go to the Charlton game for the team paying him. It’s pretty poor really but I guess he’s grown up at our club as a fan, then as a player last season, and that as amazing as it is for him seeing his boyhood team promoted, it must also be sore that we didn’t keep him for one more year. Especially after Bonne made the public plea last summer for town to bring him back. He’s a good egg and will score goals in a lot of teams where the service is good but his heart is clearly not going ti be truly in it for whoever he signs for.

He was gonna get the boot anyway due to the fact he’s a woeful footballer.

I’ve no issue with him going to Ipswich on the final day as he’d obviously already been told he wouldn’t be re-signed. I didn’t even care about the liking of social media posts, maybe because I have no time for the bloke anyway, the only issue I have is him robbing wages from us, twice.

Yeah but you sent us a “useless” midfielder in Conor McGrandles and he ended up being excellent and kept us up.

Bonne fits the Bonner profile and I can see Bonner getting him back to his best.
McGrandles was never really fully fit for us so couldn’t say whether he was useless or not.

Bonne however, is truly useless. He was at his best in the National League and there’s a good reason for that.

Looks like David Worrall is offski to Barrow. I’m guessing they’ve offered him a longer contract than what we did and they train near Manchester where he lives. Would have liked him stay as he’s still more than capable though so bit of a steal for Barrow in that league. As ever will have to see what we replace him with.

Devastated, 7 years through thick and thin with us but can understand he wanting two years, still more than capable even at this level (think he was 5th best winger in the league for creating chances I saw) and is a quality signing for Barrow.

What a signing that is for Barrow. Always played well against us.

He is mr consistent, through both the good and bad times over his six years.

Nuts that of the 18 man squad from the Play Off Final less than a year ago we only have 2 left plus 2 yet to sign new deals!

Wozza has been one of our best players over the last 6 years but I can understand why we are moving on. Another year older and if we're looking for a more physical, stronger and faster squad then Worrall isn't really that man. He goes with our best wishes as one of the great servants of our club.

A year at this level was right for us, two years would have tied us into a wage where if we stay up time and age may have caught him up, two years based in Manchester at his age in league two is a good deal for him so like Wilson the Vale have been sensible but we have big pressure now this summer to get recruitment right.

We're being linked with a ton of players, which is no surprise as it sounds like Warne is essentially doing open day tours around Moor Farm with prospective signings.

Happened to see that Charlton were linked with Bradley Dack, though, which I thought was strange. He's on £18-20k a week at Blackburn, on the back of a good year, would've thought he would be looking at really healthy wage - too healthy for this division. If they sign him, perhaps a statement of intent from them.

Portsmouth's Reeco Hackett-Fairchild was apparently up in Lincoln yesterday.

He tries hard and has a hell of left foot on him. Just needs a decent run in a side. Too many times he's a 7/10 then next games you didn't notice he was on the pitch.

I noticed after the Portsmouth home game a few months back, that both him and Kennedy were talking on the pitch after the game. Wouldn't be surprised to see him here.

We've been linked with a season long loan for Sheffield United's Will Osula....was on a seasons long loan at Derby but was cut short in January....doesn't seem to have a great scoring record but looked promising against Torquay!

Any views Derby fans on whether he'd get us goals and why the loan was cut short?

He will get goals, but he’s about as erratic as I can remember seeing at a professional level. The ball never seems to be really under control and he’s at his best when he’s chasing a bouncing ball through on goal l.

Still, given game time and a full season then I would expect him to get goals but I would say his all round play would hurt a team’s general performance.

Cheers for that. Sounds as if he could be a good acquisition in the right team. I can't see him fairing well though with our mild manner manager who likes to call out players publicly when they don't play well.

Our player of the season Dylan McGeouch has turned down a new contract and left the club. Another kick in the bollocks that, a real quality player.

Harry Anderson was in Lincoln as well following his release from the gas. Maybe a return on the cards
Yeah, still got a place here. I'd take him back, although his injury record now doesn't seem to be as good as it was when he was here.
