Year left on contract? If you can't get him to sign an extension you really have no choice but to cash in now. It's not like he is going to fire you to promotion if he stays is it.
He might fire us to safety though.

Personally I’d sell him. Good player, but replaceable. Couldn’t even get in the starting 11 first quarter of the season.

We're close to signing midfielder Danny Mandroiu from Shamrock Rovers apparently. Rated as one of the two best midfielders over in the League of Ireland (MK seem to be signing the other one) and only has 4 months or so left on his deal. Wasn't in their squad over the weekend either.

We've lost out on a few Irish lads to Oxford and MK in the last two or three years so we'll see if we get this one over the line, especially as we're off to Hungary in a day or two.

We are looking for a LWB I believe, so could be good. What’s he like?

That being said when was the last time we took a player on loan from Plymouth? Must have been Craig Noone about 15 years ago!
He divides the fan base a bit. Some think he is good enough for league 1 others don’t. He is good going forward, crosses well and has a decent shot - he scored a cracking winner against Birmingham in the fa cup. Defensively he needs a bit of work, he can be out of position a bit. he is 22, but has never had a long run, which is exactly what he needs to iron out the positional stuff. Personally, I like him, think he has something about him. I think he can do it at league one, but not all greens would agree.

Wracking my brain about the last loan. We have had the same player on loan from other clubs, but Noone is a very good shout For one we have loaned you - we seem to do more to Torquay.

Really surprised that Ben Seymour signed for Plymouth Parkway. They are what level seven, I thought he was very good, way above that level.

The only other one I can think of is Gary Sawyer but that was almost 20 years ago!

Re Seymour, he just never did enough despite having a number of chances plus a couple of poorish loans too. He can finish but he was always far too lightweight and not quick enough either. I’m surprised he went to Plymouth Parkway though as he is indeed far better than that level. His movement and finishing will see him do well there. I expect he’s being paid really well and I can see him scoring a bucket load for them. In time he will move up the leagues but not sure how high he can go to be honest.

30,000 Euros apparently due to a release clause, so can't argue at that price even if he turns out to have a terrible time here.

Ipswich fans…

Armando Dobra apparently on his way to us, unsure if it’s going to be a permanent or a loan.

What’s he like as a player, what positions can he play and how do you think he’d get on in the National League?

He couldn't even get onto our bench in the second half of last season. Technically he has got something about him, but he was soft as anything, incredibly selfish and not ready for men's football - so I can't imagine the NL will be any easier for him.

He's small, low centre of gravity, wants to run with the ball and can play anywhere across the three in behind the centre forward in a 4-2-3-1.

Scored the second for us in this one:

We have signed Dan Nlundulu on loan from Southampton. He came in to us in January and played a couple of games before picking up a hamstring injury - he certainly looked decent though. I'm very happy with this signing.

Taylor Moore signs on a season long loan from Bristol City.

Blackpool fans are saying that it's an incredible signing for League 1 and they were hoping that they would be in for him this summer as he's easily good enough for the Championship so they say. Then he also played 22 times for Hearts last season where they finished 3rd in the SPL behind Celtic & Rangers and their fans are gutted he's not returning to them and again saying he's above this level.

Unsure as to why Bristol City don't want him from the comments I'm reading from Blackpool and Hearts fans but I have to say I'm very impressed we've pulled this signing off as well as the others.

Exciting summer in Shropshire!

He was very young and raw at the time, but you could see he had the ability to step up. Went from us straight back into City's first team, which tells you the level he was at.

Odd that he's never really kicked on, but he played for us so long ago now that how he played for us will really be irrelevant to how he is as a player now.

Signed 21 year old Arsenal academy graduate RB Zak Johnson on a permanent apparently. This goes into the "one for the future, trust the Cowleys" bucket.

We’re close to Bradley Johnson according to Pete O’Rourke. One that I know the name of but really don’t know much else other than him being at Derby for a bit.
Just why? To keep Lewie company in the OAP's dugout?

Darragh Burns officially signed. Good news, he’s meant to be one of the brightest talents across the Irish Sea.

Considering Lewington has gotten better as he’s aged that’s a bit harsh. I’d imagine this is a deal to add both strength, experience and championship level quality to the side.

Exactly what you needed last time in the division.

I gather Pompey never really played to his strengths and probably on the decline now. Nonetheless that’s a really good signing to cement a place in the division medium-term.

I wouldn't have said no but feel it's a bit of a risky signing if on good money as presumably he's not at his peak anymore.
Should still have quality though. Barton is seemingly taking some risks with signings and if it comes off then fair play.

Thanks both, his goals:game ratio looks good but doesn’t seem to get a full season. I’m guessing due to injuries?

As leedsvaliant has just said, it seems we’re signing good players, but all injury prone ones. If it works out then great, but it’s a bit of a gamble

Clearly not as good as in his prime, and it was only a short spell here, but he’s not worth the wage he’s probably commanded IMO or a signing to get excited about despite his record with Doncaster years ago.

Hard worker, never gives less than 100% and I suspect excellent off the pitch as well, but is a 6 yard box striker now. That’s not a bad thing at times, but he clearly needs to be in a side who’re going to provide that service for him. He’s got no real pace, not great at holding the ball up, won’t win much in the air and was actually a bit sloppy at times here.

Not the easiest of seasons to play for us last year, though, and he did earn us some points along the way despite us not creating too much for him.

Rovers definitely looked active in the market. Certainly compared to us who frankly it has been one of the most boring transfer windows can remember.

The injury record of one or two would be a concern but that’s why they’re not playing higher up. If it pays off it will look a genius move and if not then it’ll be a desperate wait until the January window.

Good player, should end up higher than league one eventually. Can play both sides, though played more RWB. Fast, direct, decent shot and not a bad defender. Wish he was coming back to us.

Look to be on the verge of signing another Northern Ireland lad, Derry City captain Eoin Toal. 23 year old CB.

Can only echo what has been already said about Marquis. Top pro though, and a hard worker. However, Donny are the only ones who have managed to get the best out of him.

Didn't really have a bad injury record with us. We bought him at the top of the market though and he will always be looked on as a disappointment overall. Wish him well though.
