Apparently we're in advanced talks with Cole Stockton, bit of a departure from our usual signings.
We normally sign young forwards with the potential of a sell on.
We do occasionally sign older players, Stockton has done well but I'm not sure he'll be keen to play for a club not the North West of England.
I also read the potential 20 year old new owner of Morecambe is desperate to keep him there.

We're supposedly interested in signing centre half Matthew Pennington from Shrewsbury.

We’ve offered him a contract but not a hope in hell he’ll sign. Can see him going to a Championship club personally. Potentially Birmingham or Rotherham. Personally can’t see him moving down south but if you do get him then it’s a very good signing for you!

As for us, we’ve offered Taylor Moore a contract as he’s been released from Bristol City. Spent the season on loan with us and would be a great signing to start off the summer but I’m not confident in getting him as apparently there’s multiple other League 1 teams that have offered him a contract too. Probably end up at a Bolton, Charlton, Pompey, etc.

That guy is an absolute fraud. Morecambe are in dire straits and will be an absolute basket case careering towards non league next year.
Yep heard similar, reminds of the time that 19 year old bought Aldershot, 18 months later they went out of business.

Yeah, still got a place here. I'd take him back, although his injury record now doesn't seem to be as good as it was when he was here.
Just don't think he's league one standard, another former imps winger is doing rather well up in Scotland interests me more, Josh Ginnelly 13 goals for Hearts so far this season. Harry was a good pro for us but just think he's more a league two player than a player to take us further in league one.

A few online rumours that Caldwell has spoken to Ben Purrington. Have a feeling he did pretty well for Charlton before moving to Ross County.

He’s from Exeter and understand he has a house down this way, so could have some truth to it. My only concern is he’s had an ankle injury since October so don’t want to sign a crock.

Good player 7 years ago for us. Was a bit surprised he left Charlton for Ross County.

First proper rumour I've heard about Cheltenham incomings this summer. Rob Street from Crystal Palace.

Thoughts Shrews fans?

Started his time with us poorly and looked out of his depth, however Street gradually improved himself over time especially with the physical side of things. He’s not going to score goals at this level so if you do sign him, hope for your sakes he’s not a replacement for May as you’ll be facing a struggle. Nice lad but a League 2 player in all honesty.

I imagine you haven’t got the biggest of budgets but I think Cheltenham can definitely do better. Christian Saydee who joined on the same day as Rob Street would definitely be worth a look instead. Although I’m hoping we’re going back in for Saydee too.

Whilst you’re here Si, what’s Dan Crowley like? I’ve heard his name and Ben Garrity from Port Vale but apart from that nothing.

All fur coat and no knickers. Looks absolutely brilliant on the ball, but has no end product whatsoever.

He's one of those players that fans love because he looks brilliant, but when you dig deeper than the surface, he's really not great.

Apparently a bit of a fanny in the dressing room as well.

EDIT: May's replacement is Aidan Keena btw. We're looking for someone to support him really.

Ref Garrity it’s been hinted at on Facebook and Twitter that he’s signed a new deal with us but until the ink is dry and all that. Would be a shame if he did go as there was a direct correlation between him getting injured and our performances going right downhill.

Doesn’t sound promising, hopefully it stays a rumour and he signs elsewhere then.

Seen on social media that your fans rate Keena. He’s made the step up from the Irish league better than expected it would seem. He’s only going to get better as well you’d imagine. Could be your next Mo Eisa where he bangs in plenty of goals and you get a million or two down the line. I’ll be keeping an eye on his progress.

Heard a whisper a few days back but probably nowt in it then it would seem. He’s a player I’d like us to sign mind and would be within our budget I’d imagine.

Have Vale been linked with many so far?

I could definitely see it. Use him right he’d be an asset to have in many squads.

Not a great deal but in terms of anything that looks to have substance to it that’s not uncommon at Vale under the present regime. There was one report we were competing with Burton and Lincoln for Dacres-Cogley at Tranmere who I really like as a player (I suspect we would bow out of any bidding war quite quickly though). The only other one I’ve seen suggested we had spoken to was Bailey Cargill at FGR. Know of the player but don’t love his number of appearances. We’ve carried far too many of them types in recent years and won’t get away with it in this league compared to the one below.

Buzzing! Turns out as per the song Carol did know what he was worth! Huge one for us that as despite being a midfielder we haemorrhage goals when he is out! 4-0 v Oxford in November then his injury against MK saw us starting to ship 3 a game after that.

Now confirmed - 2 year deal for Ben Garrity, huge to tie him down for us.

He should be made captain for my money. Exactly the right sort of angry bastard we need.

Has a chance now Pett has gone.

I am hoping a proper pre season as we get the old Conlon back.

Some players seem to be great in L2 but dont step up in L1, as we have found out with Anthony Evans.
The Tom Ince of the lower leagues
Hopefully its just fitness issues for Conlon

Could be the case, two years ago we’d say Conlon was the one who could walk into a league one side and not look out of place… but the ones who’ve stepped up best have been the surprise ones such as Dan Jones and maybe Garrity to a degree.

He was out since January though and seems nervous on the injury but hopefully a proper pre season and we get more from him and some confidence back. If we can get him back to the level he was especially in 20-21 we’d have a very good player, he was arguably the best midfielder in league two that year and rightly in team of the year, wish him to do well being local and having family who once played for the club etc.

Time will tell, we certainly need another midfielder who is league one capable similar to Ojo in quality to push on though.

Conlon was brilliant a couple of years ago and also in our promotion season until he got injured. Easily one of the best players at that level and I expected a high end league 1 or championship club to be in for him.

He was pretty poor for at least 3/4 of last season but I thought was much better towards the end of the season. Maybe he was getting confidence back after his long layoff. The Plymouth fans thought he was the outstanding player on the pitch in the last game, so maybe with a full preseason he could be like a new signing.

Garrity was played out of position last season in a deeper role. He's not technically good enough to play passes from deep, so I was a bit bemused by that. Play him just behind the strikers and he makes some great runs into the box. He's also a constant menace and won't give you a minutes peace. Will run through brick walls too. And to think Oldham fans laughed at us for signing him...he went on to be one of the best midfielders in league 2, scoring 11 goals I think.

Yeah when he signed it was expected he’d be a back up player… 11 goals and played as a lone striker scoring 3 in 2 games when all our strikers were injured against Bristol Rovers and Newport and he was outstanding. I still felt he was too limited for league one but our record without him tells you all you need to know.

Had other interest but wanted to stay, even when injured his family travelled home and away to support us and part of the fabric of what we want the club to be.

His song questions if Carol knows what he is worth… appears she does!

Loved how every fan knew the first thing he’d say in his interview was “buzzing”

More and more noise regarding us signing Ruben Rodrigues from Notts. I’ve never watched him play, but seems to be fairly prolific as a number 10 in non league.

It’s a huge step up. No real expectations on him if he does sign, hopefully he can add something to our squad. Warne apparently was in for him last season whilst at Rotherham too.

Alan Nixon reporting we’ve offered a deal to Josh Sheehan at Bolton. He’s been offered a new deal to stay at Bolton so I guess it comes down to the playing time we can offer him, assuming we can get close to his wage demands.

Would be an excellent signing for us.

Took a while to get going again after his knee injury but last 2/3 months of the season he was very good. Definitely wouldn’t want to lose him

Funny one.

On his day, can be excellent at this level.

Unfortunately, those days can be few and far between. Tends to get outmuscled by a lot of sides and the game just passes him by.

Second half of the season though was probably his best spell for us.

Don’t mind us keeping him around, hopefully he can kick on next season. That said, if we let him go - It’s not the end of the world.

First signing through the door. 18 year old 6ft4 Centre back Michael Parker from Huddersfield. Had interest from Rangers, West Brom and Stoke City.

Never hear of him but he sounds like a promising signing from reading this:-

solid start to recruitment.
