Think our attendance could drop sub 2k tomorrow, our attendance against FGR was our lowest since 1999 and it's just gonna keep getting worse

Hopefully Northampton bring over 500 tomorrow. Should be over 7K there

A flat average away attendance is a useful measure but with an obvious flaw, as pointed out above. As an example, Exeter will have done more than twice as many miles as Swindon so far this season. A quick glance at the fixtures shows Swindon's longest trip as being Scunthorpe. Exeter have also been there, as well as longer trips to Hartlepool, Salford, Barrow, Harrogate. Even their shorter trips (Crawley, Orient) will have been the thick end of 200 miles. So Exeter's number really isn't a fair reflection of the quality of their travelling support.

A fairer measure would be miles-adjusted, e.g. something like total miles travelled to "valid" matches (i.e. those for which there is an away figure) x total away fans taken, divided by number of valid matches. Exeter would be higher in such a table, as I suspect would Carlisle and Orient. Swindon would drop, though probably only a little as they've had good numbers. Mansfield and Oldham would drop too. I reckon we'd be a little higher too (top three would be my guess), though we will face the real test in the new year when our batch of south-west games kick in. If we are doing well the numbers will hold, but if we're bottom half, those games would lose appeal to many.

Even that would only be a rough ranking, as you're never comparing like with like. You have opening weekend vs routine October fixture, you have Tuesday vs Friday vs Saturday, you have away ends that were sellouts, etc. etc.....
To be fair to Swindon, since Salford we have sold out the next 5 games and have had restricted numbers at most of our away games. For instance we had 700 tickets for Brizzle Rovers, whereas Barrow have been given 1200.

Will be interesting to see how many we take to Oldham next weekend, my guess is 800-900

Agreed. I just picked two teams, more or less at random, who appeared to have travelled significantly different distances. At the end of the season I would expect Swindon to be very near the top of the list, miles adjusted or not. It's not because Swindon fans are innately better than, say, Barrow fans. There are simply more of them to start with, and Swindon are likely to have a good season.

Also, we’ve been allocated significantly less tickets for Northampton and BRovers this season. Newport have got 500 more than we did.

I have a done a table based on mileage travelled and taking into account night matches.

The figures produced correspond to travelling 150 miles on a Saturday afternoon or 100 miles for an evening game.

Oldham Rochdale and Mansfield have been disadvantaged whereas, Colchester, Exeter and Carlisle are the opposite.

Hey, this looks great. I'm collating the figures in League 1 and wondered how you've gone about working this out. My head hurts after a week at work - thanks in advance!

And then divide these by the average home fan number to give a distance adjusted away fans as a percentage of home fans. I reckon Barrow, Oldham and Carlisle top three with Exe and Poolies up there…and Bradford bottom…as ever

425 City in Wiltshire. Must admit, I thought it’d be sub 300, we’ve been that poor.

Ironically, this is probably the best we’ve played away all season.

Over 9k home fans - good numbers!

All 200 standing tickets at Salford sold. I know that's not a lot, but that's the standing only and it is only Tuesday
