AFCW have only just sent us tickets for the opening day (any explanation for this wombles?), bit disappointing as it’s one of very few localish games

Hmm, I was wrong, the tickets haven’t arrived yet.

Friday a week before the season starts, what are they doing?

A ticketing system unfit for purpose bought by a CEO who also proved unfit for purpose. Not the only off-pitch problem we're trying to pick up the pieces from.

Someone might as well just go and pick them up at this point.

I assume it'll be just as shite a system for the cup game the following week?

We know all about this. Our ticketing system was mainly a shambles last season and the new owners have vowed to fix it, be interesting if it happens this season or not.

Can only pick them up if they’ve been printed!

What exactly is up with the ticketing system? And may I ask out of interest what are the other issues behind the scenes?

Can't cope with the complicated set of options for home fans - 10-year tickets, debentures for a guaranteed seat, people sitting together etc. All of which could be done on a decent system but ends up on ours with our brilliant office staff working tirelessly to sort stuff out by phone. Whether it's the system or insufficient training I'm not sure, but it's under-resourcing at some level. (I've heard this time it's actually more to do with the printers, but that's still down to some extent to forward planning and the contracts we're in).

The other problems show up in different ways (eg outsourced catering), but basically it's because moving to a new stadium with double the crowds caused huge pressure on our infrastructure, and those paid to see it through failed and jumped ship - which is going to take a while to put right.

I know there were a few of us talking about ticketing problems with online portals at the back end of last season.

We’ve gone with a ticketing system through kaizen and i can’t state how good it is and how much easier it is than last season.

Season tickets in your apple wallet, away tickets orderable through the system also is a massive bonus.

Though there are quite a few reasons to it, it’s one of the of the reasons we’ve gone from 2,700 STHs to pushing 4,500.

it can make such a big difference.

£25 a pop as well for adults. Not great.

The club have decided that because of the late arrival of the tickets (they weren't even sure if they'd have them today (Friday)), they'll be going directly onto General Sale. Not sure I agree with that, there should always be a window for ST holders first IMO, but with the tightness of actually receiving the tickets and the short window to get them on sale and sent out so they definitely arrive by next weekend, I can sort of see why they've done it.

Not great from Wimbledon all round to be honest, although it throws a bone to our section of fans who can't stand anything to do with the club, so that's nice for them.
With the current chaos with public transport I think the EFL need to do something about this and give deadlines to home clubs to advise of allocations and have tickets available at least 2 weeks before the game. People have to plan ahead more. Also coach companies need to plan ahead - there is a shortage of bus drivers as well as a shortage of (and striking) train drivers, extra capacity can't just be switched on these days.

With small away allocations, people don't know whether they will get a ticket or not. We had a Soccer Express say they might have to cancel a coach for Orient early this week because of poor bookings - that was the same day the tickets arrived and they went on sale to STH at 1 ticket each, people can't book transport until they know whether they can get a ticket. Next week people we'll have people scratching around looking for transport options

Think we have sold our 1,250 seats for the opener at Orient. Didn't quite make it to 'open sales'.
No we haven't yet - I got mine this pm and they confirmed there will be some for general sale on Monday because I might need some more. At a tenner a ticket that will be a bun fight with London Mariners and their mates i expect though...

You can't buy on the internet ticket system anymore, it's all 'greyed out' (it was on Friday too), but I too have now heard that they closed it down because the office is shut over the weekend and they couldn't keep an eye on sales. So it's not really an automatic ticketing system at all. Why couldn't the club have announced that they were shutting it down?

They also didn't announce what time they'd be available to 1878 members on the Thursday. I went on on Wednesday evening at about 6.30pm and got one, which was before they were supposed to be available and out of office hours so who knows what the hell was going on.

Tinpot thread, please.

Seriously though, great effort on the sales - plenty of clubs far closer that won’t sell out. Remind whatever little hoolies you’ve got that flares are a no-no in our wooden stand. The stewards and oft-plentiful filth have zero problem with having a ruck and our usually-docile fans will likely turn nasty as well.

Last few on general sale today. I like others was surprised that our new masses of STH didn't buy them all but then I thought about it a bit more; we had the final on 5th June which would have cost circa £100 per person with travel, then STs at £340, if you add a new shirt as well, then that is £500. Great that it's tenner a ticket, but with fuel costs, no trains on the East Coast line, it's another fantastic effort by Gy fans.

Lots of clubs have seen great ST sales but I do wonder if there will be a big hit to away numbers once those winter utility bills start rolling in.

Same thing happened last season too, we had Bromley away scheduled on the first match originally and I thought the 7/800 tickets would all get snapped up by ST holders but they made it 1878/Trust members and then I think eventually sold out on general sale just before it got called off. I think the trains have definitely played a part this season. Kristine Green said in the South East/London WhatsApp group yesterday that there were "a handful" left so I think we'll be sold out come kick off on Saturday.

Take up been slower for our opening game At Salford than you would expect, it’s a lot to do with people on holidays, the cost of buying a season ticket recently, transport issues etc.

Having sent the tickets out with only a week to spare, AFCW have now advised our fans that online tickets using a QR code will not work at new Plough Lane and that you must have a physical ticket.

Not great for our exiled fans if they can’t get to Priestfield to pick them up. Good to only just let people know now after the majority have been sold too.

The train strike this weekend is a big issue.

Unless you happen to live in manchester to start with

Speaking of tinpot, Barrow have allocated us 640 tickets.

On sale tomorrow - they might see lunchtime.

Despite Wimbledon/the train strikes making it as tricky as possible for our fans to go, we've sold around 950 of the 1200 so far after half a day of general sale. We should get to the 1200 in the next day or so I'd have thought.

with these train strikes there’s nothing better than an away game which is 3 miles away

We've given Northampton an initial 919 and the first block of the Osmond on the Main Stand side is open to home fans. I think this confirms that the maximum away fan allocation BP this season will be 1200 (unless we have a Scunthorpe like season...)

Going to be a lot of unhappy Donny fans wanting tickets.
