Another great following, after 1,100 to Stockport midweek.

Actually, the crowds across the country yesterday outside the Prem were superb, including the Conference. Only 4 sub 4k in the EFL and all above 3k. The Conference average was over 4k, distorted a bit by 10k at Wrexham but a midtable game like York v Southend attracting 5k would be unheard of a few years back even in the EFL. This is in times of economic hardship - I wonder what is reason? I'd like to think its people flocking back to watch their local team and ignoring the Prem snorefest on Sky/BT.

To add insult to injury, a bunch of Grimsby fans got ill in Barrow Wetherspoons and have had the place shut down... Not a great week for the fishmen.

Felt sorry for the poor buggers since the game was over as a contest after three minutes. Technically a red but still harsh.
Just watched the highlights, most disappointing to see seats in the away terrace

Grimsby sold out, didn’t make general sale as expected unfortunately the numpty contingent of our support who regularly go to and cause bother at away games don’t tend to be season ticket holders. I’m hoping they don’t turn up just to cause trouble

Never in doubt that really, you bring more to friendlies than most clubs do for league matches. Should be another 8,000+ crowd.

You lot put up some weird numbers. That's about 50% more than what you brought to us for the second league match of the season. Surely a trip to the seaside in August for your first away match of the season is more appealing than a November FA Cup match in soulless bowl?

Historically we have grounds where we just don’t travel well to, pretty much regardless of circumstance. Southend another where we don’t get above 4/500, yet we took more to Crawley on a Tuesday night than went to Grimsby for the first away day.

Chesterfield is a piss easy drive up the M1 from Northampton, and Crawley, though an awful place, is easy for London / SE based exiles. Typically, we have had 800-1.3k for London and SE games over the past two seasons. I expect a good 30% of those live in the SE.

We don’t tend to have many exiles in London as far as I know tbf

A good 200+ didn’t travel then - understandable I suppose.
