I'm born and raised in the south east, but London can get in the bin as far as I'm concerned. All it's done to my hometown area is make everything considerably more expensive. I'd still be living in Kent if I could afford to as I love the place, but my wife and I made the decision to move to the East Mids where we've got considerably more for our money house-wise making it the right decision for us. Never been sure what the appeal of London is - everyone I know who moved there citing the amount of things to do can't afford to do any of them because their money is tied up in renting a cupboard.

To be fair I'd hate to live in any city, give me green space and the smell of the countryside any time.

I remember being in Telford and every now and then, Swindon and Oxford results would come up on Midlands today.

Only reason I'd move back to Grimsby once I finish in the forces is because it will be the only place I can afford to buy a house!

Up until mortgages went up for about the last 14 months in a row I was only paying £327 a month mortgage for our 3 bedroom terrace and 2 of our bedrooms are huge too.
Now paying just under £500 but still way cheaper than most towns I would guess.

Some particularly bad memories of that massive open stand. Shudder-inducing stuff.

Was a pretty rubbish day wasn't it. I got a phone call at half time saying my dad had collapsed in the supermarket and I thought he was going to peg it as he was having cancer treatment. It was a long drive back and I was the designated driver.
Still, we're back after four good seasons and the old fella is still alive, 83 on Sunday and bought his first season ticket aged 80 and will be sat with me in the Kop on Saturday.

You have to pay to not be able to drive anywhere now too.

I can see the arguments for and against London/the South East vs anywhere else. I prefer to try to appreciate what I've got now over looking for the flaws in other places. What I will say though is that the place I enjoyed living the most was probably the only one that was outside of the UK.

I was in Cleethorpes, but I only actually lived there until I was 2, then we moved to Barton where I grew up. I don't even know what the area of Cleethorpes is, Grainsby Avenue was the street, kind of off Taylors Avenue.

I went to school with Grimsby, Scunny and Hull fans where I grew up so I was actually the front line.

Every school day for me was like a bad day in Bosnia, what with all the Bradford Whites and plastic United fans.

Every school day for me was like a bad day in Bosnia, what with all the Bradford Whites and plastic United fans.

Oh we had all the Liverpool and United fans as well who vastly outnumbered anyone supporting a local club. Even had a few North Lincs Whites actually, get everywhere the Leeds lot don't they.

Don't get me wrong, I've liked everywhere I've lived in the UK, I just think the biggest cons for me are related to politics and a deeper understanding of the country here than I was able to have when I was in Seoul. If my Korean was fluent enough to understand the news there then I might look back on my time there with less of a rose tint. Part of the appeal of living overseas is the bubble effect.

All not far off the truth but absolutely no mention of the wages and being able to afford that £500k poxy bedsit and £6/7 pints.

Earn loads then buy a big pad with loads of land that you don't really need back in the Midlands or North. Any spare change goes on that holiday pad in Spain that you can now afford to visit regularly

Sounds like the packed tube and threat of Albanian gangs might be worth it after all.

It was and still is a school, was quite rough like, quite a few of the students got done for manslaugher while I was attending.

Weirdly enough the barn was actually owned by the school too, it was not just a farm with a school build around it
