Newport have signed our former striker Courtney Baker-Richardson. I'd like to offer an opinion but he never played a single minute for us.

He looked like a reasonable target man who holds the ball up well enough but he didn't look too much better than NL standard during his loan with us last season.

Newport have also signed Jermaine Hylton and defender James Clarke.

Very underwhelmed with Hylton and Richardson! but Clark seems to be a solid enough signing.

I liked Hylton when he was at Swindon. Raw right enough but felt he had something about him. Be interesting to see how he does.

Linked to Jonny Ngandu, young midfielder from Coventry and captain of their U23s.

Nothing wrong with avoiding the stuff, its when you go the other direction thats the problem. Another supporter of your lot has been on with an opinion so its ok.
Just wanted to know what its like in anticipation of actually being allowed back to football grounds in numbers and being able to mix with others without looking like a bank robber.
Hopefully i can contribute something about a signing at some point but Tranmere are taking their time with new players.

Cobblers fans, any thoughts on Harry Smith, who we're linked with? Seems to have had some non-footballing issues with gambling and mental health problems.

He has been open about his struggles so hopefully the worst of it is behind him. He is a frustrating player, hes massive but does not use his size to its full potential. Feel like he needs to be a bit nastier on the pitch using his physicality to bully the CB's more.

Feel like he would be far better with another striker next to him to feed off. We have a lot of (crap) forwards on the books at the moment but he is one I feel like we should keep as there is more to come from him. Feel like he will definitely leave though as he is one that I can see being useful at this level.

Frustrating sounds perfect for us. The club has a long standing dislike of gambling companies under the ownership of the Palios's and is very aware of helping those with mental health problems so he would be in a good place there.

Im actually quite happy with how we’re approaching our signings this summer. The likes of Merrie, Watson, Cogley etc are really well thought out transfers. If we follow the same method for our strikers and wide men then we’ll be looking really solid.

Its how we do things. Drip feed or feast seems to be the method preferred. Makes it interesting and keeps the rumour mill turning.

Harrogate absolutely spunking their wad to sign Luke Armstrong from Salford, can't blame him with the silly money they've chucked at him but I couldn't imagine playing in front of Betty's tearoom every week, was tremendous for us, proper poacher, stick balls across the 6 yard box and he was generally there to stick them in, they've got a half decent strike force now with him and Orsi.

Aye a bit gutting and thought he might stay but when you're a lower league striker and you'll get around 9 grand net a month. Career is not forever is it? We'd all do the same. I shot straight over to Saudi on triple the money I was on. Same thing.

Bit galling we can offer nowhere near that but then Salford also wanted a transfer fee. Hope the Oates to Bradford thing is not a thing like.

Aye was told about that as well, would be a kick in the nuts but wouldn't begrudge him a move, at the parade yesterday they reckoned Sterry was off to Bolton too.

Gonna be 5-a-side next season.

Well both Bradford and Bolton are bigger clubs who can pay more. Looking a bit desperate already but we'll see.

Who’s Oates? Not heard that one from our end but maybe I just need to catch up on my forum reading for the day.

Rhys Oates, our top scorer last season, fans and players player of the year, currently out of contract, only just heard about it yesterday personally, could be a load of shite but I wouldn't be surprised to see him move on.

Yann Songo’o will finally be announced sometime next week and it sounds like Ben Whitfield from Torquay is also incoming.

Getting a player with a lot of ability in Whitfield if you sign him. Does seem to have had a couple of injury issues towards the end of his time at Torquay though. Probably needs a manager like Adams be on his case as his second spell with us the way he was blowing out his arse after 20 minutes suggested he wasn’t doing all the things a professional should.

I have only seen a grainy picture of him so couldn't possibly comment.
I refuse to apologise for the awful pun.

I wasn't much for Whitfield at vale even though he did score the odd good goal. I think he's too small and light weight gets injured too often and like you said runs around non stop for 20 minutes then is knackered for the rest of the match.

Yeah I'd agree with that last bit, wastes too much energy running down blind alleys so is always shattered for the last 20 minutes. Good player given the time to get his head up but once teams learn to get in his face he's much less effective.
