I’m confused. Why did Tranmere need to make redundancies? With that in mind, them splashing the cash seems a bit distasteful.

To be fair as far as I know, Mansfield and it’s tiny commercial department have not made one redundancy, so we’ve got that over our new Rivals Tranmere :)

We had to make redundancies to protect the playing budget. We are a football club after all.

It is a bit rich Bolton and Bury supporters having digs at our financial probity....

Making redundancies of non-playing staff in the current climate isn't unique to Rovers, for example it's happening at promoted Plymouth too. We've let a lot go on the playing side as well, currently 16 players + 3 first year pros on the books

Probably because Bolton have made redundancies every time they've been relegated, and had their staff eating out of food banks not so long back. Just a hunch.
I Believe both Barrow and Tranmere have both been in Administration......pot calling kettle springs to mind

Arsenal have just laid off 55 people and are spending all that money on Willian. Plymouth made redundancies and are still getting players in. The list goes on.

You know full well why we would have to make redundancies in order to protect next season’s playing budget and the fact you’re making that comment to have a dig at us and using people’s hardship as a way of making us out as the world’s worst club says more about you than it does about any of us.

You're the one calling Tranmere's transfer dealings into question. The rest of us are capable of understanding where they're coming from.

I think most clubs would of taken Vaughn and doyle I know we would. Vaughn didn’t get Bradford promoted . touch of envy With some of these comments by other supporters I expect Bolton to go up and Tranmere to be challenging this season

You say the list goes on, but it really doesn’t. Very few clubs make redundancies then go on a spending spree. Only those that are run by massive bellends. Your club is one of them. Seemingly Plymouth and Arsenal are as well.

To be fair, you were right to raise Plymouth. I forgot about my dislike for their owner, who Plymouth fans bizarrely see as this benevolent god like figure. Much as you guys like to fervently masturbate on mass over Mark Palios.

Also, to defend the decision of sacking human beings who probably have families to feed by shrugging it off and saying ‘but the playing budget’ is another sad indictment of your fanbase. The use of redundancies should be to save an ailing business that is on the blink. They shouldn’t be used to sign James Vaughan.

Just imagine if Mark Palios, the kind, caring, compassionate, fiercely loyal demi-god who has the best interests of everybody but himself at heart, was still the chairman of the FA. Football would be in such a better place.

I think it’s quite likely Vaughan doesn’t represent good value for money, despite being a good player - reminds me of the situation with Kane Hemmings at Mansfield a year or two back.

If anybody takes ‘Tranmere have bags now’ as a dig, and start making comparisons of Mansfield and Tranmere commercial department purely because I support Mansfield, in forum terms they have definitely gone off the rails :lol::lol:

Nothing against Tranmere, ever, and I reckon they will be competitive next season, They just took it the wrong way I think.
I think you were hurt that Tranmere have bigger crowds than you!

We've signed Brennan Dickenson on a 2 year deal.

Exeter and Colchester fans... any thoughts?

"A spending spree"... We haven't spent a penny on a fee to bring a player in for starters. And secondly we've signed 3 new players. Hardly a "spree" is it? Last season we had a squad of lets say 24. We had 9 on contract for the first day of pre season so the first team squad has been cut as well as other areas of the club.

The priority for any football club, as well as what goes on in the local community, is what goes on on the pitch. We have an extensive college setup, we do a lot of work internationally in Asia and North America, we do a shit ton in the community, we had a hotel that was run by the club on top of those that work behind the scenes in the club shop, in events, groundsman etc. I'm not saying the number on our pay roll would have been ridiculous, but it would have been one of the leading ones in League 2. Unfortunately, if we want to get back to League 1, we need to bring players in as we only had 9 and whilst it's regrettable, you're bound to see some redundancies in other departments that have to take a backseat. We're not happy at having to make cuts and it's hardly a decision that will have been taken lightly.

I wonder if you think similar to clubs that voted not to continue the season last season due to the financial implications that would be involved? The same ones that are signings players on the regular (and actually paying fees for them) and are happy to restart the season in near enough the exact same circumstances that we now face with the new season coming up. Probably not because in that case, we got relegated and you were absolutely made up.

You mean when he saved the FA from having to borrow a further £175million and stopped them from going into financial ruin? Sounds like a right tosser.

Bit of an odd signing given he's from way down south and all his previous clubs have been southern?
He's a qualified plumber and has recently moved up there having got a job at PSG Plumbing and Heating, fancied playing a bit of footy on the side so signed for the local semi professional team.

Excellent signing.

We never saw the best of him, but he was still decent for us. He’s got an excellent left foot and is good on the ball, but he came without playing much for MK so was short on fitness. He needs a good 15-20 games straight and he will then be fantastic for you.

We’d have tried to keep him if COVID hadn’t happened but we have players in his position so he was let go.

He was amazing at Colchester before his injury so if you can get 70% of that player then you will be laughing.
