I had heard (was it on here?) that Devitt was all set to sign for Carlisle until the government said fans wouldn't be allowed back til next year.
No, we've looked at him, but not seriously I don't think. I don't think we were ever in talks to sign him. It was mostly fans and pundits asking the management about him.

Everything was agreed between Devitt, Blackpool and CUFC apparently, then our head coach said he didn’t want him.

yeah, although he didn't say as much, it sounded like it was just a matter of finalising a deal for him.

I've listened to that clip now, and he is asked about Devitt, but says that he's looking at one or two players and "let's see if we can tie 'em up this week" - sounds a bit like he says "tie him up", so I think people have misheard that.

Crawley Town have signed free agent Henry Burnett.

Started out at Dagenham and was with Southend u23s last season.

I hope he is the bees knees but, while wishing every success in the world, my overriding thought is.... Why?

The thoughts of the technical director (I have no idea what that means either) probably sum it up. "I believe he will be an important addition to the squad and I look forward to seeing him develop in a Crawley shirt.”

Newport have already got a decent squad and that's another good signing. They could do well this year.

Location has probably helped in this one too though. He’s certainly good enough for league one but apparently just doesn’t fit the MK Dons system. Delighted with this signing, just a shame it’s not a season long loan.
Will be interested to see how Boateng does for you. On his day he’s fantastic and he scored a couple of absolute worldies for us. He tends to get a fair few assists too.

Negatives are he’s sometimes perceived as being a bit lazy and he doesn’t score enough goals. Think he only got 3 in about 75 games for us which is pants for an attacking midfielder.

That said, he should be an asset for anyone at this level so he’s a good signing for Cambridge.

We're one of three clubs linked to Randell Williams at Exeter by Sky.

Seems like agent bollocks.
Can we swap him for Stockley?!

Well he’s been poor so far this season so it looks like his head has been turned. I don’t think he’s Championship standard yet, but he could well be in time.

I’m surprised he turned down Peterborough as that looked like the perfect move for him.

Ethan Walker back from Carlisle, needs an operation on his shoulder which will keep him out for 3 months. Shame, seemed to be finding his feet a little.

Big shame, he’d looked promising in his few appearances and with injuries to other wide players he would have got loads more starts over the coming weeks.

He did in the B team trophy against Sunderland. He’d got away from their player so their player decided he’d just grab Walker’s arm and yank it back as he was running away, then just as this was happening one of their other players wiped him out, causing him to land heavily on the arm that had just been pulled. Nasty.

It appears we're set to sign Ellis Chapman - still only 19 but appears to have some decent experience.

Thoughts Luke Imp?
Can't imagine we'll get much compensation for him given the finances in football at the minute, probably a minimal fee but high sell-on.

He came through our youth academy, went to Leicester and then asked to leave 3 years later and returned here but he came back a bit of a manufactured PL youth system player in the sense that every movement on the pitch seemed very deliberate and perfect. Decent left foot, capable of some good passes and if I'm honest he's probably got a better move than I thought he would if he ends up at your place.

Seems to want to play more in the mould of a sitting player rather than box-to-box or a '10'. Problem is that he can't sit too deep because he doesn't have the defensive attributes for that. Spent some time at Chesterfield in the NL two years ago but couldn't get into their midfield and played left wing back.

I'm assuming he'll be a squad player there as he was here.

This is what I put earlier in the year when Swindon were linked to him:

"You'd be disappointed if he was anything above our 4th choice central midfielder next season. He seems to have stayed at a similar level since he started training with the first team nearly 4 years ago at the age of 16 and that promise he showed/showing needs to turn into something.

Technically good and looks like a footballer but, as you can imagine for someone at his age, physically isn't there yet. He's a bit like a young winger playing in CM in that respect.

If Appleton, as one of the better coaches of young players, isn't pushing the boat out to keep him then that probably says a lot.

Looks a bit silly turning down our pre-Covid January contract offer now. We'll get compensation for him anyway so it all goes back in the kitty.

EDIT - I say turned down the January deal, he didn't actually reply to it."

Hmm - the compensation thing will explain this comment from Duff after Tuesday's game then...

"What’s the deal depending on?

I’d be here all night. Probably the most complicated deal I have been involved in and we are still not sure we’ll get it done."

Hmm, strange one. Would have liked to have held onto him for his versatility but sounds like he's asked to go on loan to get regular football which is fair enough., probably will do him good to be fair.

Where is his best position? He’s got hard competition in midfield, we’ve got some good players in that area.

Hard to say, he's a central midfielder but he's mainly been used to plug holes, often at RB.

He's your nitty gritty midfielder, don't expect to be wowed by anything he does with the ball but loves to get stuck in and doesn't mind the donkey work, guaranteed to give you every thing even deep into stoppage time.

He’s definitely come here to play in midfield. Hope he’s a better loan signing than Ajose!

They are night and day.

Lapslie will give everything he's got, every game. Never tires, and if he does he doesn't show it!

Think/hope he'll do well.

So not highly rated at all then.

Hasn't he fallen on his arse since his move to Luton from non-league?

Not sure why it would be complicated. We're due compensation and we're not going to stop him signing elsewhere.

Looks like it's free with a sell-on clause anyway.

Not really fallen on his arse it’s just a big big jump. He hasn’t played much but when he has played he’s done pretty well and I’ve liked the look of him. Got man of the match in the cup against Man United this season and was more than decent.

We have James Bree and Martin Cranie ahead of him for the right back slot so just need to get games really. Jones seems to like him and he knows a decent fullback when he sees one.

Peter Kioso the ex Hartlepool right back right? Little wonder he didn't make the step up to the Championship then. The Poolie fans are the ones to ask here not the Luton fans. Soup Ladle Chief Rocka

ps - by the way, no disrespect to Hatters fans, it's only that the lad has barely featured for Luton's first team.

Quality player, more than good enough for L2.

Quick, good in the tackle, very fit, has a good cross on him. Everything you want in a modern day full back. Can also play centre half. Seems a good kid as well.

He can improve on his positioning and decision making, so that'll probs be why he isn't the standard Luton need for the Championship yet, but i'd be surprised if he doesn't make it eventually.

Got Hickman who plays well for 45/60 mins then fades. Gethin Jones is out until at least December.
So i imagine he will at least get the last 30 this Saturday.
