You sure you’ve got the right Grant? Hope I can easily see leaving and the same for Joel Grant - Anthony Grant, not so much.
Yes, I’m sure, obviously things can change very quickly and it might not happen but that’s definitely what the club are going for right now and they’re hopeful it will happen before Tuesday’s game

Grant A. would be a brilliant signing for you. Immense last season for us and MoM in virtually every game - even eclipsing goal machine Doyle.

Only downside is that he’s been carrying niggly injuries this season.

Wouldn’t say he’s not good enough. He’s actually a decent footballer but just a bit lightweight and powderpuff. Will probably do well for a footballing side down south.

Probably do well in a good side with good players around him, not good enough for a side fighting relegation surrounded by more shite.

We have signed Neil Eardley on loan from Burton. No idea where he fits into this squad, or where he can play - defensive midfield?

Played RB for most of his career I think? Deffo did for Lincoln anyway. He’s passed his peak but that’s a decent signing for your situation I’d say.

Yeah, though we are okay for right backs (unless our first choice is more injured than they're letting on). Also the club making a point that he can play across the back four or midfield.

Barry will end up off for 2 weeks sometime soon on parental leave - knowing our luck just after he's fit again

Rumarn Burrell on loan from Boro confirmed. No idea whatsoever, any good Grimsby fans?

Is that a thing footballers do? I know Chris Taylor missed a match because the kid was born that day - not sure a club would look too favourably on a player taking a fortnight off?

Only played about 45 minutes of football for us before he signed for Boro. Some of their fans seem to rate him so it doesn’t look too bad a signing.

Played 100+times for us, and every one of them at RB. Played in the prem and our player of the season a couple of years ago, but age catching up with him.

Definitely a RB, although he did have a couple of twenty minutes spells in CM.

I'd say it's a good signing. He found it a little bit tough last season in L1 with us and probably has done again this season (although Burton are a shambles at the back and haven't kept a clean sheet in about 35 games!) but with us that was more to do with the big step up in quality of wingers in L1 than him going downhill. His game has never been about pace so he's fine positionally and has an excellent cross and set piece delivery on him. Managed nearly 150 appearances in three seasons here and hardly missed a game through injury.

I was a bit surprised, given that he's based in the NW, that he opted for Burton in the summer. I thought he might have taken a lower contract at a L2 Club and save on travel etc than try and stay in L1.

I remember when we took Neil Eardley on loan back in 2015 when we was owned by the regime that took us down, he played one game for us and then decided we was run like a circus and he fucked off back to Birmingham I think it was he was with at the time. He stopped turning up to the clubs training sessions after ten days and no one from our club was able to contact him, our manager Fabio Liverani at the time said he sent him back after he did this, but the reality was he saw what a shit show it was.

No one blames Eardley for what he did. Very telling at the time.

Rumours that Cardiff have made a bid for Watters and Sunderland for Nichols.

To lose one striker is the way the world works for league 2. To lose two is close to negligent.

Some crazy money being rumoured for Watters. If he does leave it will be undisclosed because we never do disclose them.

Taylor was off for 2 weeks - but the Exeter postponement meant he only missed 1 match.

Is it negligent or just bad luck/coincidence? It’s not like the club have any control on other teams bidding on both in the same window. It’s also hard for a club at our level to say no if the bids are good.

I'm more shocked that Sunderland think Nichols is good enough for League 1. He looked ok for us last season, and admittedly he's done well at Crawley, but he was dreadful for both Peterborough and Bristol Rovers.

Nichols has always impressed me but clearly lost his way after his big money move to Peterborough. Works his socks off and tidy little player, just needed to score more goals. I can see Sunderland going for his because of his work rate alone. They need someone like that as Danny Graham can hardly run anymore but knows where the onion bag is and would benefit playing off Wyke.

He actually started ok for Peterborough and was their top scorer in his first full season there, admittedly with only 12 goals. Something then went wrong and his confidence was shot to bits.

I am pleased he’s doing well at Crawley but I actually think he’s benefitted from no fans being present this season, which has meant he can concentrate on playing well and things are coming together.

I think a move to Sunderland would be a risk for him. If he didn’t start well there I can see his confidence being ripped to shreds by their fans. Good L2 striker but that’s about his level now.

Sunderland would be a terrible move for most players right now. The expectations are still massive, they're not the only 'big team' in League One but the fans still judge their players by Premier League standards, you could score 20 goals in a season for them and still be slated for not being good enough for the mighty Mackems. If covid and salary caps have limited their ability to offer players more money then they've little they can offer than any other team in the top half of League One can.

Kurtis Guthrie keeps being mentioned, a lot of our fans cream over his performance against us for Stevenage a couple of years back... one game! It was one game!

I just remember the season we got promoted from this division. We were going great guns, vieing with Swindon for top spot, when we sold our top two strikers in January. We only just scrapped into 3rd place with a 0-1 win at Accrington on the last day.

We are not as good this season. From being play off contenders we could end up looking over our shoulder.

We have got sign someone as pope is done for the season, Cullen is injury prone and doesn't score away from home, rodney isn't the finished article yet and Robinson is bone idle and his first touch is abysmal. Only other alternative is youth team players or drag Billy paynter out of retirement.

Forget his ability for a second, Kurtis Guthrie's attitude completely stinks. We've been used to players not giving a shit over the last few years but he's right up there with his lack of application and desire.
