The Earl of Derby?:lol::lol: Brilliant. He probably asked to be hung after they sent him to Bolton. This is like being back in the Conference forum when someone dared to suggest Luton weren't gonna win the league and Kenny End would pipe up about their 1988 Simod Cup final.
The earl of derby referance was a question about history

I'd personally put Glasgow, York, Salisbury above London, but Manchester, Leeds and Cardiff well below. Worst is probably Milton Keynes.
I guess it kind of depends on what your criteria is, I probably meant it's the most global city in the UK. "Best" is such a subjective term. The shit things about London are horrible, but the best things are things that other cities in the UK can't really compete with is kind of what I was getting at.

Bolton was the centre of the Industrial Revolution....It was the birthplace of Samuel Crompton who invented the spinning mule...which earned Billions of pounds in todays money to this country. Centre of the civil war. The Earl of Derby was Hung at Bolton. We have some of the best period buildings in the country.....Le mans cresent is used regularly by tv crews......The west lancs moors are on our doorstep.
People who were born in the town include World cup winners, multiple Olympic gold medal winner.
Movie Actors,Pop/Indie singers.Britains biggest earning comedian etc,etc
While hanging a member of the Stanley family is a definite plus point, Peter Kay is not!

No one had heard of Bolton until Fred Dibnah knocked down a couple of chimneys.
You are known because your town is twinned with Chernobyl........Seriously i would wager 80% of the population could not point Barren out on a map

You know you're talking absolute shit when Don is sticking up for Grimsby.

I'll say the same thing I always say when Adam Stag decides to air his opinion that Mansfield is on a level playing field with Tokyo. At least Grimsby/Cleethorpes is a shithole with a beach. That alone elevates it above somewhere like Bolton. If Grimsby/Cleehtopres was on the west coast, all you scabby cunts from Bolton would be coming over on the train all the time in the summer like you do with Blackpool.

Where did I say it was good? My whole point is that people from Grimsby/Cleethorpes are aware of where they're from whereas people such as yourself seem to think they live in some kind of cultural and historical wonder.

I moved to London for work and because my wife at that point wanted to live there. I definitely don't have rose-tinted London specs either, but it's quite clearly the best city in the UK.
London is a awful place....Jesus christ....Best City, its a shithole

The best things not sure London got anything that you cannot say get in Manchester, just more expensive

The league 2 Forum is so much better than the league 1 version. Only in the league 2 transfer rumours thread do you get fans arguing that their town or city is least bad!! SOC having lived in both London and Edinburgh i would say that Edinburgh is far and away my favourite of the two.

And before Peter Kaynus harps up, yes I'm fully aware we'll probably be in league 2 next season so I can enjoy much more of his thrilling banter then.

You'll miss out unfortunately as Bolton were automatically promoted back in August.

Whatever the status of our home towns is in the grand scheme of things its an indisputable fact that our football teams are 3rd or 4th division level. Some of us just cannot grasp this reality.

Kellan Gordon and Harry Charsley have signed new contracts, happy with that, Charsley in particular is somebody I really rate, chips in with goals and assists and his work rate is excellent.

Gordon was one of the better players before Clough came in, he will leave you vulnerable at the back sometimes but he’s a nightmare on the wing attacking, really good at taking on and crossing.

Good to hear that Maddison will take full advantage when we play our rearranged game in August

This is impressively rich coming from a supporter of a club that postponed games when they felt like it last season. Do not vomit up any of your crap about protecting young players. Nobody but yourselves put you in that situation. No other club put you in financial trouble. It was all your own fault. Nobody can blame Mansfield Town for the virus or the weather. If they had the ability to control nature they would be the biggest club on the planet. There is no chance you will ever be hungry with that massive chip on your shoulder.

It’s essentially pointless to compare London to any other city or town in the UK. It’s too vast, diverse and global for any comparison - good or bad - to have the remotest merit.

I was merely comparing my enjoyment experience of living in the 2 cities. Don't get me wrong London is a great city to live in, but for me, is too vast and overwhelming. There are also other factors, I was younger and more adventurous in Edinburgh and older and grumpier when in London, which we have since left anyway.

Brian Galach departs Crawley Town. Mutual termination of his contract.

He has been a mainstay of the Crawley bench for the last two/three seasons without ever getting onto the field of play. And when I say mainstay I mean practically every single one (he must have got on a couple of times I just can't recall them). His only appearances have been in the Carbao Cup and friendlies.

I do not think he is good enough for league football at the moment but I have been wrong before. However, I feel we have been wasting his time and he will be better off dropping down a division or two to get game time.

Seems to be well documented that Coke isn’t very good but our fans are currently rejoicing. Don’t think anybody else can be bothered to question it really, he’s one of over 50 people this season who can claim to play for us. Seems a strange signing to say the very least but we shall see.
