Signed Tristan Abrahams. 2 year deal

Have to be honest that I’m a bit surprised he got another League club. Had decent potential when he came through our youth system, but been extremely sporadic in his appearances over the past few years which has hindered his progress. Absolutely garbage on loan for us at the back end of last season.

He offered very little for us on loan in the second half of last season - But IMO he didn't really suit our formation. He needs to play in a two up front to try and get the best out of him, like Newport originally did.

We played him wide left a few times but his goal threat was minimal, then again second half of last season we was mainly crap, so it was a two way thing.

He's quick and works hard though.

Abrahams looks ok at this level and may eventually have a good season but he was pretty average for us and the subsequent games I've seen him in.

Port Vale champions. Crawley and Carlisle for the relegation spots.

Going on bullishness levels you’d have to have Scunthorpe as bottom 2 candidates surely? A number of their fans on social media seem to think they’re likely to struggle.

So that’s another one off the books by the look of it. Rumour is he’s Burton bound. Decent enough but replaceable.

However, we probably still need 10 signings so I really hope Matt Taylor has his recruitment A game this summer.
Could be a shrewd signing for someone.

Likely to struggle is an understatement.

We only just stayed up last year and we lost the few players who kept us up.

Yep, agree. And hopefully we will be able to replace him well. Should be an interesting couple of weeks.
I hope MT is just as shrewd with his signings ;)

Heck of an athlete, very quick and he will chase all day, but his decision-making was often poor and defences seemed to find him easier and easier to handle. Heading needs to improve.

FWIW, I think Abrahams may come good at some point. As others have said, he’s got all of the physical attributes to make him a very good forward. If someone can coach him properly and play him in his best position, I can see him doing well.

Go on, I'll bite.

Why Crawley for a relegation spot?

We've signed a young centre half as back up and a proven midfielder (promoted from this division not that long ago) and only lost a back up centre half from a side that finished upper mid table.

I will admit we need more (a forward especially) but relegation seems a bit harsh.

We are signing Joss Labadie. Not sure we need another tough tackling midfielder though, but he does add experience, strength and power to our quite small and young midfield. Very happy and excited with these two signings to mark the start of our new managerial regime, early days still but so much more exciting.

Almost certainly going to be made captain.
Horrible horrible player. Without doubt the biggest cheat in the division last season and the player most likely to get an opposition player send off due to his "screaming like a banshee rolling on the floor clutching a body part "act. I`m looking forward to the day when somebody snaps him in half quite frankly.

As for Manny. I like the guy . Most of us do . He`s quick and he`s a strong lad but his left foot is purely for standing on and his brain goes to sleep in the vital moment far too often for my liking. His performance at Exeter last season was a perfect example of what a disaster he can be when he has a bad day. As somebody said before put him next to an experienced steady CB and he`ll do a job for you but put him with a rookie and he is an accident waiting to happen

Crawley will be nowhere near the bottom. Lots of continuity in their squad/manager a solid side last season. Everything you need to have a decent season.

No particular reason, just throwing around some names really. Haven't done any background checks behind any of my predictions, just saw that Carlisle had lost a load of players to Barrow and saw Crawley had signed the poor man's Jack Payne and so plumped for them.

It's worse than the poor man's Jack Payne. We have THE Josh Wright !

Watching the Euros has confirmed my long held opinion that playing sideways is one of the worse things to do in football. What I'm told about Payne and what I know about Wright they'll have to change or my toys will follow my dummy.

Playing sideways maintains possession. Nothing wrong with that. Thought we controlled the game very well v Croatia once we got in front, lots of keep ball/sideways passing meant very few defensive scares. If you’ve got the ball the other team can’t score.

Some of our fans seem to think we are close to signing Bruno Andrade.

Omar Beckles has officially signed for us on a 2 year deal.

Words going round that Conor Wood will be announced later today as well.

Ben Whitfield a rumour from Torquay United. 25 year old midget winger. Footballing CV isn't that great.

Vale fans, how was he for you?

Highly talented player and certainly good enough for this level. Scored the goal which saved us from the Conference against Chesterfield a few years back. I do question with him though whether he does all he can do professionally to get the best out of himself. Was noticeable when he was on the pitch for us he was often blowing out of his arse after about 10 minutes. That may well have changed at Torquay though as Askey or Aspin for that matter weren't the sort of managers who do well with his sort of player.
