Harrogate signing that Danilo Orsi from Maidenhead. Reckon they’re starting to chuck a fair bit of money about now
Looking at his comment about joining a club as big as Harrogate Town there must be a lot of money involved because size wise they aren't much of a step up from Maidenhead United.

Another one linked with us. If he's gone there for more money I'm shocked.

So Harrogate going for it then

Orsi and Armstrong wages are big enough to bring the World Bank down.

Suggestions Cambridge want Sam Hoskins who has been here for 6/7 years and is still the definition of Marmite amongst the fans.

Right winger isn't he? He's always impressed me when I've seen him and we certainly look to be adding pace to our team which would suggest we are looking to play on the counter attack this season. Is he any good?

I see he's in contract too.

Well this is one of the issue, he plays literally everywhere which makes him a bit jack of all trades master of none, but I would say you are right in RW being his most common position. I can remember him filling in at fullback, central midfield, CAM, striker and winger, he even played CB for a few mins once while someone went off. He has pace but in terms of footballing ability he is not that great. Finishes the chances you wouldnt expect and misses the easy ones.

The reason he is so marmite amongst our fans is he seems to be undroppable by all our recent managers since Wilder left. Basically he is rarely injured, plays everywhere and has endless energy so I understand the upside and why a manger would love that. Its just his footballing ability does not justify that. Will usually chip in with around 8-12 goals in all comps though so its not like hes useless!

I would keep him because he really is so versatile, has pace and is never injured. He is not going to fire you to the top half of L1, but a handy squad option.

Our new #1.
Be watching out for Mansfield results now. Fantastic guy is Nathan and was decent for Southend. Would say if any Southend fan saw a move to Man utd coming they're lying, but they have obviously seen something in him. He was in their European squad and ended up being 3rd choice keeper and they gave him a new, longer, contract.

With Southend he was obviously young, raw and more often than not thrown into a shit situation. Could command his area better but is a fantastic shot stopper, comes out quick when dealing with players coming through and has good feet.

Maxted is a decent GK. He did divide some fans but I always thought he was good. He pulled off some superb saves at times but perhaps his biggest weakness is crosses. If you got him, he’d be a decent signing.
Some of our fans were suggesting we resign Jonny when Exeter confirmed his release, that kind of says all you need to know, he has been well rated by many at a couple of clubs in this division...this may be his level but he is a pretty decent alternative if your first choice is unavailable.

We have our own keeper issue, whether McGee or Thomas should be number one...it is a relatively nice position to be in, both are are good keepers but in different respects, at least there is a serious challenge for whoever is picked to maintain their level of performance to keep the other one out.

I think adding Maxted to the mix would have been a bit of a waste, especially as we have two good keepers already. There is no real way that you can keep three keepers happy, one of them will probably only get a chance if there is a long term injury to another...plus, if you do need back-up there is usually an option to bring someone in on loan.

Im surprised as well. If you offered him a contract then I can’t believe he turned you down to go there. Only reason would be the wage must have been a shed ton more!

Hoping for a couple of defenders and a forward today...Friday seems to be a busy day for signing players...let's see what it brings!

We had him on loan last season, only played twice so I couldn't tell you anything about him either, seemed full of beans and ran around a lot.

That sounds like all of our strikers...except perhaps Jamille Matt, who is a bit more measured in how he uses his energy, and it pains me to say that his approach has proven to be the most effective!

Talking of our strikers, Aaron Collins to the Gas should be confirmed soon.

Walsall fans, Max Melbourne has been told he can leave if he's one who's likely to interest you lot.

Also Zak Elbouzedi, winger, can leave. Both would be solid enough L2 signings I'd have thought.

In the summer we've lost a keeper, a centre back, a left back, a winger and a striker, released a midfielder and a striker, and had a winger and a striker return to parent clubs. Beech has said he wants to make a 'couple' more signings, which is concerning. One of those has to be a keeper so we could be a bit light in certain areas.

We look a bit lightweight up front with Kayode, Zanzala and Patrick all leaving and Clough and Abrahams coming in, both of whom have a point to prove. We're unchanged in midfield at least but at times last season we could have done with a solid holding midfielder, and released Furman because decent as he was he wasn't that type. We've lost Bennett and Anderton at the baack and now lack cover for Armer and experience in defence, it's just all quite young players (though I guess Hayden isn't really young any more).

I am concerned about us next season. Don't see us going down but doubt we'll trouble the top half of the table unless we bring in more experience. We currently only have 4 players over the age of 24 and it sounds like we're pretty much at our limit in terms of outfield players we can bring in.

Just been confirmed on our social media. Only seen him play in the Newport play off games but looks a talent. Would also like us to sign his brother but he is under contract

Would happily take him back, did well for us and we still haven’t signed a left back to replace him, so would make a lot of sense.

Collins is definitely talented but wholly inconsistent, which you would hope might have gone from his game by now, he can produce a moment of brilliance but moments later send a shot on goal over the stand and into the car park....however, I would add that the last striker the Gas signed who had played for us didn't turn out too bad and still scores on a regular basis for his current club...hopefully for you Aaron can follow in the footsteps of Matty Taylor.

Aiden Stone signed from Mansfield. Looks like he played a half decent amount of games last season, any good?

Imagine he'll be backup to Covolan.

Erm, it was a shame to see him go but i also understand why we did.

I’d have kept him as a 2nd keeper as although he made some real bad mistakes he was a nice lad and time is on this side, i thought we were too rash.

If that’s going to be his remit then he’d be a solid back up.

Wish the lad all the best.

Stone did okay, I think Clough may have kept him as a 2 if Stech was not under contract for next season, he’s on the transfer list but we’ve not been able to get rid yet.

I think Stone is a more than adequate backup, I was expecting him to be picked up by a conference team to be the #1.

We were being linked with Kyle Cameron from Torquay. Highly rated centre back, looked to be moving to a higher level.

So he's signed.

For Notts County.

Cobblers fans, any thoughts on Harry Smith, who we're linked with? Seems to have had some non-footballing issues with gambling and mental health problems.
