Pope isn't as good as he used to be but there is the possibility he was offered deals at higher lever clubs say national league but didn't want travel 2 or 3 hours to that club so decided a 30 minute drive to Congleton will do him.

Exactly what James Hanson has done joining Farsley Celtic, National league north. Said he made the decision not to sign anywhere over an hour away (ended up about 15 mins away from his house).

Some talk I think that the shoulder was a problem and was advised against playing higher level after that horrific injury at Sunderland.

Half expected him to roll up at Hanley Town with Dickenson, Dagnall and Dodds!

Pools have signed striker Olufela Olomola, been the best of the bunch of trialists so far.

Always remember him at Yeovil a few years back. Looked a real talent but his career has stalled since. Could be a good signing if he gets going.

In Olomola's defense he signed for us which is a death sentence for any players. You are guaranteed to get injured at least 10 times if you sign for us.

Have you ever got anything positive to say about your club? You need to stare down the barrel of a gun to get some perspective. It’s a new season, anything is possible!

Yes, but his attitude stinking must have contributed to him now being an unemployed footbaler trialling for a basket case club. It's dumb.
Definitely McKirdy’s attitude rather than his ability being the problem. A shame he was left on the bench in the playoff final against Tranmere instead of the likes of Azeez and Marsh-Brown.

We've finished 23rd (League 1), 20th and 22nd in the past three seasons. We don't even have a maniac owner to get rid of to give us some hope, our owner isn't determined to drain us of money he's just incompetent. We released 18 players and signed 3. We're doomed this season I think I am allowed to be negative.

We were stareing down the barrel of a very big gun, days away from the trigger being pulled.
And that now is hopefully buried in history.

So for any struggling out there keep supporting. " don't let them grind you down"
the club in whatever form will always be yours.

Good post RL. We were less than 1 hour away from extinction and were only saved when 2 former players wrote off something like £3 mill in unpaid wages.

Anyone have any idea who this is? Scored tonight for us.

We had Tyrone on loan season before last, and he was superb. Linked brilliantly with Adam Campbell. Held ball up well, great first touch, and very skillful - quick feet and great close control. Was recalled by Boro, and made bench a few times under Woodgate, but didn't seem to get a look in with Warnock. Came back last year, but was asked to play a different role, dropping into midfield at times, and didn't suit him. We were hoping to get him back, but has the potential to do well at L2 level, although if you are going to struggle like you seem to think, probably not the ideal starting point for him.

Tranmere Rovers giving another 30+ player a chance to make a career in the game. Sam Foley becomes our 8th over 30 squad member.

Was a really good player when he was with us. Not that am saying it will happen with Tranmere in the slightest but he is a bit of a jinx being in teams that get relegated though.

Three relegations in four years… Yeovil, Vale in the second season then Northampton!

That said he was decent and certainly ours wasn’t down to him not being good enough in L1.

Marvellous. On the plus side he is one of about 7 central midfielders so not certain of being a regular starter.
Need more strikers because the most experienced one is Mani Destinyschild.

Oh yeah certainly in our case it was pure coincidence. That was on the fact Smurthwaite went completely off the deep end and brought in the likes of Mbamba from the Swedish fourth tier on £2.5k a week. In retrospect it’s incredible to think we’d have even stayed up if ADF hadn’t missed that sitter late on at Fleetwood on the last day.

With Foley though Tranmere will get a player who will run all day for you and is versatile across the midfield. Nice little acquisition.

Jay Spearing, Kieron Morris, Ryan Watson, Chris Merrie and Sam Foley is an experienced central midfield, with Liam Feeney and Callum McManaman out wide we seem well covered in that department.

Was your usual ineffective hard working lower league centre mid with us
