50% may sound a lot more money but it will guarantee you 20+ goals a season. Something Gray is yet to do in the Championship.

If I were Hull or Middlesboro, I know where I would be putting my money this summer.

I think he scored 19 last season in his first. 1 more would've triggered a clause in the agreement so another £50,000 would've come out way.

50% more sounds like a lot because it is a lot! That's without even factoring in wages - Rhodes is probably on between 5x or even 10x what Gray will be earning currently.

The bottom line is the market for players like Gray is massively inflated currently, to the point that a fee of between £6-£8 million is pretty much the standard going rate. Gestede is going for £6 million, Ulloa went for £8 million, McCormack went for £11 million, hell, even Rhodes went for £8 million when he had barely kicked a ball at Championship level (admittedly with a great record at League One). Even Tyrone Mings cost £8 million this summer!!!

Strikers cost a lot of money. English players cost a lot of money. Young players with high potential cost a lot of money. Players at clubs under no pressure to sell cost a lot of money. Gray is all of those things, and will consequently cost a lot of money (although I don't think it will be £8 million in the end to be fair - depending on who you listen to Brentford will probably compromise in the £6-£7 million range).

He scored 18 in all competitions, which included 1 in the League Cup and 1 in the play-off semi.

League games only he hit 16 goals and 8 assists in 45 games. Considering he was a) stepping up three divisions and b) playing a role he had never played before and on paper was completely unsuited to (lone striker), that's a hell of a return for a first season.

I'm not saying he's rubbish so calm down with the stats haha. All I said was Rhodes will guarantee you 20+ goals a season and I would rather have Rhodes in my team. £4m is fook all if you end up getting promoted.

We've finally confirmed the signing of Will Hoskins which wasn't a very well kept secret seeing as he'd had his name put on his shirt for the friendlies and was in the team photo.

Lots of rumours suggesting that Ivan Toney is having a medial at Newcastle, fee supposedly in the 400-500k region with add ons. He isnt anywhere near that level so assume he will be loaned out to a league 1/league 2 team, hopefully us next season.

It is funny though that there is so much interest in him, despite the fact he dosnt get ahead of Marc Richards in our starting XI. Massively talented, but will be surprised if he makes it at prem level, definite championship player though in the future

I'd rather spend £5m on Gray (which looks the realistic fee) than £12m on Rhodes. Absolutely no doubt about it.

Well of course but the original discussion was £8m versus £12m.

Happy with that providing he gets fully fit. Of course he's had a nightmare recently but then so did Nardiello prior to joining us, so there's hope.

A fit Hoskins will score plenty in L2 and he's still only 29.

I wouldn't pay £8m for Gray in the same way I wouldn't pay £12m for Jordan Rhodes.

I liked Parry, hope he gets fixed up with a club. Versatile, solid and young - best position is defensive mid for my money but can do a very passable impression of a central defender too. Had injuries at really unfortunate times with us and by the time he came back fit we had signed new players for his position of outstanding quality for the level who he couldn't shift (Pelly Ruddock in the Conference season, Nathan Doyle last season).

He'd be a top signing at Conference level, untried at this level but I think he could do a job as a squad member.

Ferdinand seems to have ability but a poor attitude. We brought him in on a half-season loan in the Conference in response to a central midfield injury crisis, but he ended up only playing about 20 minutes for us. John Still was unimpressed with his application in training so sent him packing back to Peterborough.

As above, I liked Parry. Good anchor man, due to the fact very little gets past him and he's scared of nothing!! Think he could do a decent midfield job in this league for sure.

Heard on Talksport today that Swansea (still) and now Palace are interested in Matthew Stevens. We've turned down £250k for him so a bigger offer may come our way yet.

If Parry hadn't got injured at a really unfortunate time I think he would be a fixture in our side by now, bit of a shame as I liked how he looked at the beginning of the conference winning year. Good defensive mid for my money, hope he gets fixed up
at Yeovil.

Orient fans - anyone know if you have a sell-on % with Odubajo?

Some Luton fans on Outlaws speculating that we might get screwed on our sell-on fee with Andre Gray as Hull are looking to do a combined fee type deal for the two players. Obviously those fears would be unfounded if Orient also have a sell-on clause for Odubajo...

We've signed George Taft on a 6 month loan from Burton Albion. Played 37 times for them last season and will give us more options a center or left back.

So we have a centre back but are in discussions with their current club over a fee owed. Barnet fans any chance this is David Stephens

Yes, we have a sell-on fee. Pretty sure Brentford run a standard policy of 20% of profit on all such clauses.

Sounds very likely. We would be due a fee because of his age.
Last season wasn't his best but he is still a very good centre back

It's 30% I believe.

Would be gutted to lose McAnuff. Has the potential to rip League Two up.
He'd do a job for us at this level, but with the money he is on he is better off moving elsewhere.

As long as his wages are spent elsewhere, I'm happy either way.

I know people have been saying 30% but I think it's more 10% from what I've been told. But it's just as much guess work as everyone else.

Be interesting to see how Hull play this.

20% of profit is what we got with Gray according to usually very reliable ITK posters on our forum so that could be true.

Would 10% be profit or total? I'd assume profit,

The bold bit is the crux of the matter. I know we've gone in for Payne, which shows intent, but I'm not at all confident we'll get in a leading Leagye Two player to replace him.

In my opinion we still need a lb who can play cb, an attacking cm, possibly a depth wide attacker depending on how hot Kashket is for a decent promotion attempt. If McAnuff goes, add another attacking midfielder who can play wide.
