I wouldn't say genius RB, but thank you*.

* To be perfectly honest , historically many managers have done this before, especially if the replacement player (say Curtis Thompson) performs well when giving the opportunity . I'm guilty of plagiarism.

Indications are our business isn't done. Likely to be another striker and defender coming in

On our forum, our centre back Josh Coulson has been linked with a move to Leyton Orient. Not sure if the rumour has legs but Coulson wasn't even on the bench for us yesterday. Not sure why Orient would want him, mind.

Hendon did watch one of our games in pre-season. Coulson played 45 mins and Hendon left after about 55 mins.

Because our third choice centre back is a right back, and our fourth choice centre back is Theo the Wyvern?

We need cover there! If he can play right back as well, even better!

There's decent reviews of Coulson floating about, and I think he's fairly strong and good in the air? What's his distribution like? Does he have much pace? Watched back all our games so far and Essam has pleasantly surprised me I must say. Would imagine he would start as a bench player.

Presuming that Baudry isn't off, if he is, I'm going to spend many months crying.

Coulson is strong in the air and isn't muscled off by many CF's in this league. His distribution is ok, does things simple. He has been encouraged to bring the ball out more this season and play the odd cross field pass and certainly hasn't disgraced himself. He would be a good signing for you.

Personally I think it would be naive of us to let him go on a free unless we have someone else lined up.

Agreed, Coulson had a reasonable first season in the league around a truly horrendous defence and it was a bit of a surprise to see him transfer listed in the summer, he's not been frozen out but was the scapegoat during our abject first half at Wimbledon and then wasn't involved at all on Saturday which gives this rumour some substance.

Not very quick, and can play the odd shocker of a pass, but I think he can still be a very good League 2 defender, and he's still improving as a footballer, absolutely not a full back though. Likewise I'd be disappointed to let him go, especially to a club where he's likely to have a similar role as to what he'll have here this season (unless we continue to defend like we have been in which case he might get more starts).

I don't think Josh was a scapegoat at Kingston - it's just that he's our 4th choice centre back if Taft is not playing fullback.

He'll never be anything but an excellent L2 centre back but his vision/distribution going forward is nowhere near as good as Taft can offer.

We need backup of his quality even if we are only looking at a mid-table finish. Even if we got a fee, I'd be disappointed to see him go but I guess a trip down the M11 is one of the few moves that might suit him personally - but it would leave us with transfer-listed Taylor as 4th choice centre back.

Based on the questions from O's fans, I think the varied talents of Greg Taylor cover just what is being sought. For a modest fee we can offer an experienced left back who has played centre back, right back, wingback and defensive midfield in recent months. ;) Of course I'd love him to open his account with us before moving - a league goal or even 2 consecutive passes over 20 yards to a colleague would be a great send off.

Edit: I've just worked out why Richard keeps playing him - it's a small sacrifice to generate the only way of moving him and his wages on, hopefully to a rival. If it fails, he'll probably end up at Grimsby on loan.

Not a transfer but after 7 months out Matty Blair has proved his fitness and signing a deal today. Abit worried myself, He's not set 100m sprint records so I have some doubts!

We've just confirmed that we will receive a guaranteed £1.1 million from the Gray sell-on clause (spread over three years, £330k now). Could receive up to another £700k if Burnley get promoted.

Patrick Brough has signed a contract extension, keeping him with us until Summer 2017.

Think it's a smart move as he's got potential, but he hasn't had a good start to the season.

Jack Marriott has also signed an extension for us until June 2017. It's got another trigger in there also which would have him here until 2019.

Seems a pretty smart move as he is obviously very talented so with a contract like that we might get a decent fee if he realises that talent.

Winger Matty Blair has today re-signed for the club, we are pleased to announce. More on www mansfieldtown.net later.

Blair deal is done and a couple of weeks away from being able to be chosen for the first team.

With a club history that includes 'Racing Club Warwick' and 'Bedworth United' he should prove to be an inspired signing.

Is that actually happening then? I thought it was just Outlaws bullshit, didn't hear his interview.

The midfielders have been awful but we can barely keep everyone happy as it is, seems crazy to be making more signings. Guttridge can't even make the bench (even though with only one functioning ankle he is still a better player than Paddy McCourt based on the first three games).

Maybe Lee will do something novel and actually try and pass the ball to a teammate though, that'd be nice to see.

Good luck with that. Olly Lee struggles to pass a ball 5 yards. Can't run, no strength, no sense of positioning, occasionally produces a decent long range effort but that's about it. Not league standard.

He was very good on Tuesday against Stoke. Looked a good passer of the ball. Time will tell.

Wait, After years of success in the middle of my Stagsalona team on FM I've just realised he's Rob Lee's lad!

Heard that one before. You got a source? Great signing for Pompey as we all know Tubbs can't play the role as one up top.
