Mark Cullen released by Blackpool.

He's already been linked with a reunion with Gary Bowyer at Bradford. Probably a decent fit for him as he'll likely have to drop down a division following an injury-blighted couple of seasons in League One. Should be a top striker for this level and I imagine he'll not want to take too much of a wage-cut if he can avoid it, so it's up to a club with a decent budget to choose whether to take the risk that he'll return to his goalscoring ways after an injury-free summer.

Failed to score for us, but never looked like a 100% fit player and yet despite that still looked like one of our better players.

McKeown is the best shot stopper in the division. Dodgy kicker, not the best command of area. But so good at shot stopping that he's probably a top 5 L2 keeper. Looking at around 200k for a 29 year old though, I reckon. I'd take that if I knew the money was going back into our budget, but I doubt it would so I'd rather we didn't sell.

Injury depending any club in L2 would do well to have him.

I think so too. I'd certainly take him, even if for many of our fans his goalscoring record with us is a dealbreaker. That considered though I'd probably only want him if his wages were in-line with a typical League 2 top-half player because we can't afford the risk of paying him League 2 high earner / typical League 1 money; and there are other clubs perhaps yourselves, more able to take that risk and lure him with greater promises of wealth and glory.

Assuming that Northampton are a big club for this level and are in a financially good position (new owners right since that guy who stole money off the council?) He might have a competitive budget for the first time in ages, so things may go better for him. Never had a top-half budget with us while Notts were in higher league so would have needed more money to be considered competitive.

He did. In 16/17 season we had a top 7 budget. Well according to our Chief Exec.

Interesting you say that as his goal scoring record has left many here underwhelmed. His injury list is another concern especially given the amount of crocks we’ve signed these last two years. Saying that, reading reviews on here he sounds solid for L2, Eoin Doyle should do alright down here if he stays but we need a target man upfront more than anything.

It's a calculated risk, but one you can probably afford if you're at the top end of budgets in this division and aiming for promotion as I can't see him going to a L1 club so there's unlikely to be many better offers than the one Bradford table, if they do table one. He should be good enough for L1 in theory but hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself there.

Our first signing! Ben Richards-Everton (who?), a big centre half from Accrington, two year deal. First jigsaw piece of signing a load of big lads complete.

Sounds like he was named via a game whereby you have to choose a character from an Arnold schwarzenegger film and follow it up with a type of confectionery.

With the signing of Christie Elliot, we're well on our way towards our goal of a team consisting of players with surnames for first names. He'll fit in nicely with Macaulay Gillesphey and Hallam Hope. We have a youth team player called Taylor Charters so need to get him on a pro-contract right away.

I hear he’s good at dictating play......

I have a family link to Robert Mugabe - true story.

So on that basis, he was a lovely bloke who was the PEOPLES President :D

Brentford have released Jack Bonham.

For some reason United fans were divided on him when he was on loan with us, but he was one of the top keepers in the division that season, so there's some decent players to be had on a freebie right now.

No he wasn’t. His time with us was a catalog of errors. He has the potential to be a decent keeper if he cuts the basic errors out, but he was poor for us.

Stanley offered him a new deal, but he declined to come here. Not sure what to think of that, really. Seems to have decent pedigree. Helped them with promotion the other season from this league - and their fans are gutted to see him leave, which always reads well.

Johnny Mullins has had his contract mutually terminated. He hasn't played since January and, despite him not really having a bad game for the club, we were a better team when he wasn't playing.

Wish him all the best, and someone is going to get a decent, experienced defender.

EDIT: Scrap the last bit - he's retired from full-time football. I expect him to sign for Kidderminster or the like.

Sid Nelson has been released by Millwall. I know Wellens has said he would like to sign him.

Tranmere fans, how has Nelson done? I know he's only played 5 games but do you think you'll be going after him permanently? He's a London lad so I guess geography may work in our favour but I know that's not how it always works when it comes to footballers.

He has been excellent for us. A no-nonsense, head it, kick it defender and the ideal replacement for Mark Ellis when he got injured.

We will almost certainly offer him a deal, so it will be for him to decide where he wants to go. The result a week on Saturday might influence his decision!

I feared that you might have said that. Yeah, you are probably in the driving seat now with Sid, but he knows he is very welcome down in Wiltshire if he wants to stay down south.
