This might not be just a rumour. IF we sign him, depends how many games we can get out of him and what his attitude is like. If he is fit and enthusiastic, should be good for us.

The Andy Carroll rumour does seem to be gaining traction, those that first mentioned it said it’ll be announced this evening so I suppose we’ll know quickly if it’s bull shit.

Interesting one Barclay. Signed him last summer from Accrington after he made a fair amount of L1 appearances. We gave him a three year deal and Rusk knew him from his youth days at Brighton. He was signed to be the linchpin of our defence. He was awful to be honest but they all were under Rusk.

Challinor had him for a bit but I don't think he particularly impressed either despite others who were shit under Rusk coming good. So he went to Yeovil on loan for the rest of the season where I believe he did well.

He's obviously got something, I think he deserves a stab at League Two. He dropped from L1 to NL without getting a chance on that bridge. I am interested to see where he ends up. He's surplus here so he will be moving on after we've signed Horsfall and Lewis. He wasn't involved in our friendly on Saturday despite us putting two new 11's out in each half.

I'd be interested to see if you take him permanently as he has two years left here and I bet we gave him a good wage to drop from L1 ( Accrington offered him a deal IIRC).

Hard one to call. Going purely off playing for us he was terrible to be honest but his general pedigree is quite good. Carlisle feels a good move.

Brought in to replace Ash Palmer and was unable to do that. We never really saw the best out of him as he was forced to play on the left of back three by Rusk which was nothing short of a disaster.

Was given few opportunities under Challinor including a start against Rotherham in the FA Cup, and was shipped out pretty quickly after to Yeovil after an underwhelming performance.

Yeovil fans really rated him when we sent him on loan there so they might be able to give you more of an insight but I think all of them have bunkered down on the tinpot board.

Non league probably about his level, I think he had a decent run of games for Notts County, albeit when he was about 21, and a lot of them thought he wasn't very good when we signed him.

Personally don't think it's as clear cut as "not deemed good enough down there". He was crap for us for a two or three months but just couldn't get back in.

Yeovil and Torquay finished in similar mid table NL positions last season. Yeovil fans rate Barclay, Torquay fans rate Lewis who we've signed. Lewis is seen as a coup taking a good defender from a solid NL team, Barclay is that plus he he had plenty of appearances in League One. Accrington offered him a deal before he joined us.

Only thing I'd say is I don't think Challinor rates him and he does know a player when sees one from what I've seen.

We aren't going to have much pace at the back but him in a back line with Alex Pearce gives us the experience that we lacked last year which killed us. Exactly what we needed to rebuild and give the talented kids a platform to perform on without having to carry the whole side.

I get what you’re saying. And if it was this divisions best players he was behind then i wouldn’t question it, but what if middle national league is his level? We need League 2 quality players, not players that couldn’t cut it at the top end of the league below.

I believe in our manager, so I’m hoping this is a master stroke from him. But I’d be lying if I said I’m not slightly concerned.
