Let's not forget Dion Conroy's finest moment:
"We play better football than them, we're better footballers, so we’ve just got to take care of the physical side of the game and we’ll be alright."
Prize bell end and it was one of the reasons they got beat in the play off semi final. Talk about stupid.
He was the one who lost Wilson for our goal in the second leg after that as well I believe!

Just watched the first Crawley interview with James Balagizi.

The usual stuff you see in these interviews, which I'm sure they're trained to say, but he came across as truly excited and happy to be playing in his first senior squad...and that's with Crawley.

No idea what he will be like as a player but from that interview alone I hope he does well.

Rumour on the Crawley forum that Mansfield have enquired about Tom Nichols.

No idea if true.

People here about will know I think he is decent but not prolific.

That’s where it’s come from I imagine, likely to play a little bit behind our strikers, something Clough mentioned earlier in the week.

Just bloody sign the guy to stop our fans going on about him :bg:
Noises coming out the club a few weeks ago were that we’d ended our interest and he was heading your way.

Guessing he’s lowered his demands to enable him to stay local.

By the sounds of it he’s a player with bags of ability but not always able to demonstrate it, Hurst has a very good track record with that type

Wish him all the best, no arguments against him.

He’s the type of player you’d expect at a bottom half club, ability but will put it once a month (no doubt against us) but certainly not the quality you’d he looking for if you’re aiming for top half.

Again, wish the lad well, doesn’t work well in a long ball side, don’t play him against clogger sides like newport, harrogate and sutton

Otis Khan is a useful squad player to have here, but he isn't good enough to play as a wide forward in Wellens 4-3-3.

Khan IMO would be better in a 4-4-2 - basically as natural winger either side.

Played him at right back a few times and I got the impression he didn't like it there, because he was less effective.

Hurst plays a 4-4-1-1 so he could fit in a couple of positions in that formula

Sounds like a solid enough signing, seeing a few versatile players coming in this window which he seems to fit in with. Will provide decent cover in the #10 role if/when McAtee is out.

I couldn't imagine playing Khan at right back for any reason. Surely that ended in disaster.

Been told that one of our midfield targets we're looking to work on bringing in next is Josh Sheehan from Bolton - Wellens apparently quite keen on him.

He's not played for Bolton since last November due to injury I think, so I can see this being a loan. Having said that, we may spend some more money.

Keith Hill deployed him as a right wing-back for Rovers. It wasn't a total disaster. Khan never really took control of the midfield when played there while with us. Unsure what his best position actually is.

Indeed. He’s very neat & tidy on the ball. Good footballer. Imagine he’s fantastic at 5-a-side. Really don’t see where he fits in an XI; as others have said he’s probably a #10 but I can’t imagine he’ll be able to have a consistent effect on games at this level.

On his day Sheehan is way too good for L2 but he tends to play too deep to do the damage he could. Obvs that might have been his instructions. For us he mostly played alongside Labadie but I thought he was better without him when he had to take more responsibility.

We were shafted in the PO final but the penalty scenario wouldn't have arisen if he hadn't given the ball away trying something clever in a dangerous area.

I’ve a feeling Hurst will have either signed him to play on the wing or he’s backup for McAtee, if it’s the latter it’s not a bad combination at all.

The rest of our signings will give us a better idea

Think you lot are gonna have to go on the Going For It™ list. Currently we have:

Stockport
Bradford
Mansfield
Northampton
Barrow (season long running joke deal)
