We had him in a relegation battle and he was utterly forgettable. One of those players who we've had who has looked crap then gone on and been great at other places at the same level or higher. In fact when I look at that side on Wikipedia we had Jaiyesimi, Siriki Dembele, Charles Vernam, Jamille Matt and Mallik Wilks. How the fuck did that team finish 22nd and only survive on the penultimate day?!

Ha, I always think similar of our side that was relegated from League One - Sam Walker, Joe Edwards, Alex Gilbey, George Moncur, Gavin Massey, Frankie Kent, Sam Szmodics, Macauley Bonne, Kane Vincent-Young, Marvin Sordell... got us relegated and then got their moves to top end League One or lower Championship sides.

Gills fans, heard a murmur that our CM Tim Dieng could be headed your way this month - heard anything?

I’d be gutted to lose him…He was a huge part of our promotion team (14 goals from midfield) and is a real box to box type. He’s contracted till 2024 so we’d get a fee, but still don’t want him to go!

Tranmere fans, what’s Ross Doohan like? Having a medical here this afternoon apparently. He’ll certainly be kept busy the way we defend.

Not heard anything about him down this end, but would be happy with a signing of that calibre

Good luck to the lad.

I don’t dislike him, but I just think his options are limited when he doesn’t want to move away from the East Coast.

Apart from Grimsby, Mansfield and maybe Doncaster, which other club could he ply his trade at next, if we base it solely on location.

Scunthorpe if he dropped down 2 leagues?

He needs a new agent and a back hand before he finds himself in non-league.

Mansfield is a similar distance away from Grimsby as Bradford is mate, so rule them out

Not a name that I've seen linked to us from this end, but anyone who knows where the goal tends to hang out is welcome.

Are odds out for next season? Might lump on Gillingham right now if so.

Can't decide if that's worse than ours or not...both absolutely terrible considering the talent!

He is ok, a reasonable young keeper. He is a bit hesitant at times and makes the odd mistake, ironically including an absolute shocker on Saturday, but his handling and positioning is quite good. His distribution was poor when he first arrived but has improved this season.

Our back four is actually excellent and he is well protected, so it will be interesting to see how he does in a side that ships goals.

I don't know if it's mentioned, but we were after a left-back from a League One Club who has apparently chosen Gillingham instead. This was about a week ago, and I don't have any names, but it was from the one guy on our forum who has any real knowledge of transfers.

Literally just heard from a usually reliable source via DM that Dieng is on his way out and may be announced as early as today. If it’s to you, then it’s a very good signing.

Stockport County.
I informed you all of this the other week when I'd heard what they'd offered Olaofe.

That new American owner at Gillingham is going big.

I’ve heard nothing from any of my usual sources and all that - but we need another central midfielder, Wellens has said so himself and Dieng does fit the profile of what we would look at.

Apparently DJ has told them he’s going back to see out his contract or staying at Walsall - he has no interest in moving elsewhere.
From someone on our forum usually reliable and right the saga continues!!!

Wouldn't mind him back here. Good signing for anyone in league 2

The loan system rules need changing. At Wimbledon we've lost 3 player's. 2 of those player's were expected to stay for the season but their parent clubs recalled them for one reason or another unexpectedly. They've not done anything wrong but surely the parent club should give the lower league club at least a couple of weeks notice telling them of there intentions . To do this at the start of Jan leaves not only us but I'm sure other clubs up shit creek. The bottom line is if you get a player on loan at the start of the season and they are decent you've basically got no chance of them seeing out the season long loan .

If they aren't your players then they aren't your players. You're already getting a favour from the parent club, another body in your side for whom you probably don't even pay the wages, they owe you nothing more than the terms of the deal.

Just be glad your club is a good environment for players to flourish, it means you'll likely get offered plenty more. Back when we had Gannon in charge he always made a big thing of the loan system, giving full reports of progress back to the parent club etc, and it stood us in good stead with them long-term.

Let's be honest all they are doing is putting their player's in the shop window. The majority of them never go back and play for their parent club. Personally I'd rather my club developed our own player's which we do and not bother with loans. Hopefully next season that will be the case.

Stockport fans, have you heard anything about a move for our right-back and arguably best player, Josh Dacres-Cogley? Out of contract in the summer, Aberdeen hoping to snap him up on a pre-contract deal, but your club suddenly gets linked.

Not heard anything but right back or right wing back more specifically is probably the one position we'll sign a player in before the end of the window. Southam Hales rumoured to be out for the season and James Brown has been recalled by Blackburn.

Pay the asking price ya tight c***, you're in the 4th round of the cup!

Stagsnet of course in meltdown once again, I reckon the 3 signings Clough wanted, 2 look to maybe have been hijacked and Pompey stalling on Freeman until a new manager comes in.

How quick is he? We play a back three so we'd be much more interested in someone who can do the RWB role

Sounds like we’re getting Vernam here on loan until the end of the season, happy days.

Did you listen to the Same Old Wombles podcast? The rant of the week made that point. Of the three, only Towler was top notch. Hudlin was meh and Maghoma was less so.

We do have a reputation for developing decent players. Aaron Ramsdale anyone? To a lesser extent Marcus Forss who's now at Middlesborough and who knows where we'd have finished that season if he hadn't sustained a season ending injury?

A number of goalkeepers that were in our academy have been signed by clubs higher up and most of them are playing at a higher level. Still waiting to see what happens with Matt Cox at Brentford.

As pointed out on the aforementioned podcast, we'd be buggered if a bigger club poached Ashley Bayes, our goalkeeping coach.
