Wimbledon sold out, 1k all in (no exact figure). Weird how we're taking more there than we did to Charlton in August. Probably new ground syndrome.

It won't affect any away fans but NYS has been reduced in capacity by 1500 due to ongoing pumping station and bridge works on Don Street at least until the new year.

Safety officers have insisted that exiting the ground could be dangerous if it was a full house.

It will affect the Sunderland game which would have sold out, but we normally only get between 8000 to 8500 home fans attending anyway so it won't be too detrimental.

Pathetic really given size of Rotherham's population but what can you do?
Tony Stewart must despair given the money he has put into the club.

No different to us really and Donny is far larger than Rotherham in terms of population yet no matter what the club does we can’t expand the fan base

We suffer because of the amount of Sheffielders that came to live in Rotherham in the 80's/90's when Sheffield rates and property values prompted a lot of new couples to buy properties here.

That's why there are so many Rotherham Owls and Blades.
People tend to follow their parent's clubs, that's life I suppose, that's why all my family support Rotherham

No doubt Doncaster suffers because of Leeds mainly, but also because of its huge boundaries mean quite a bit of travelling from its outposts.
If the club is doing really well people are more likely to make the journey.

Barnsley on the other hand has an even smaller population than us and manage to get around 10000 season ticket holders.
I believe that's because of the solidarity of the former mining communities.
Pit villages that come together to make a town with a real civic pride.
Yes they have people in their boundaries who follow the Sheffield clubs but not to the extent we do.

Either way, our two clubs should be doing a lot better than we are.

1,786 very happy janners in Oxford.:)

The club are saying it was 1,784, but the first figure was the one the commentators gave based on the announcement at the game.

I think you suffer from being slap bang right next to Sheffield at the end of the day, rather than any other reason.
As for Barnsley - well they've historically spent many more seasons playing in the second tier than Rotherham or Donny so that's probably helped their fanbase keep to a good solid level although there may be a bit of truth in your mining community suggestion.
Donny traditionally have been no strangers to the basement which clearly doesn't help a clubs fanbase grow.

GMP are cacking themselves ahead of the weekend so 3924 is our lot for Saturday. A pisstake really, but it is what it is, think the club are trying to beamback it at the DW for other fans, but I'd be surprised if they manage it at such short notice.
4007 Wigan. Someone must have found some tickets down the sofa.

How could you have had more tickets? From what I’ve seen on highlights Bolton never give any club more than the top tier and half the bottom tier.

Very impressive that Wigan managed to mobilise upwards of 150% of their fanbase nonetheless.

2,513 Ipswich in a crowd of 7,954. They could have sold double that I reckon, maybe even more.

I've finally got a figure for us at Sheffield Wednesday two weeks ago, from our match day programme yesterday, of 1,573.

Thought it might have been a couple of hundred more, but still pretty decent for a 320 mile round trip during a fuel crisis and pissing it down with rain.

In our entire history I would agree with you but the last 20 years have been mainly successful yet attendances haven’t altered, it doesn’t help having so many traditionally big clubs around us but we should have been able to get more in than we do.

But your attendances have improved drastically during that time.from the couple of thousand you were getting in the Conference around the time we whacked you 8-0 in that cup.
There was a time in the early Eighties when Doncaster were barely getting 1,500 through their gates and they weren't even in the bottom division so your crowds these days are thankfully much improved from those days,as are most clubs.

Another weekend when several teams don't announce their attendance, it's very strange and I can never remember this happening before.

I can't understand why this has become the case.

We always put a the full attendance up on the big screen with the away following listed in brackets.
It also puts the round trip distance up with a thank you to the visiting fans for their attendance.
It is announced on the tannoy at the same time and the away fans are wished a safe journey home.
It's just manners.

I’m not disputing that but in reality given the size of the Doncaster area we should, given the facilities be getting 10k home fans in as a minimum

I also don't understand the lack of attendance figures from certain clubs, in some cases just the away figure, and in some cases any figure at all.

I always thought the publication of the total attendance was a league requirement?

Yes,I take your point and there are other clubs you could probably say the same for - Northampton being one example.

Yeah we do exactly the same, and the tannoy announcer always wishes a safe trip home to the 25 - 50 away fans who have made the journey to Cleethorpes.

We’re probably the nearest league or conference club for around half a million people but before this season we’ve been generally averaging around 4,000. It’s the downfall of living in a city which is populated with people who have moved here rather than born here, generally not being a working class area and having a council who don’t care about anything unless the university are involved. Frustrating isn’t the word.
