I've finally got a figure for us at Sheffield Wednesday two weeks ago, from our match day programme yesterday, of 1,573.

Thought it might have been a couple of hundred more, but still pretty decent for a 320 mile round trip during a fuel crisis and pissing it down with rain.
Swindon are much better home and away

I also don't understand the lack of attendance figures from certain clubs, in some cases just the away figure, and in some cases any figure at all.

I always thought the publication of the total attendance was a league requirement?
It is a requirement to report both figures to the League and to the away club, but not elsewhere. Go figure.

As I have posted before, every single club knows exactly how many people come through every turnstile, and therefore how many in each area of the ground, as a requirement of the Health and Safety rules, Why an increasing number have decided to keep this information secret beggars belief, and is disrespectful to supporters imo. Most Premier League clubs have always kept the figures secret, but they are a law unto themselves.

IF I was cynical I would be very suspicious of this process. Good job I'm not.

We’re probably the nearest league or conference club for around half a million people but before this season we’ve been generally averaging around 4,000. It’s the downfall of living in a city which is populated with people who have moved here rather than born here, generally not being a working class area and having a council who don’t care about anything unless the university are involved. Frustrating isn’t the word.
I suspect if you travelled back to the mid 70's there would still have been a considerable diehard support for City rather than United in the area but nowadays I think they're pretty irrelevant to you lot which is one plus I suppose.

Yeah I’m too young to remember them as rivals (I’m 37). If you’re 60+, you probably remember the rivalry. And to be honest, if they’d been a league club instead of United I’d probably have supported them instead. My parents aren’t from Cambridge so I’ve got no “genes” to hold on to with my support. But they’ve been irrelevant ever since I’ve been watching football. Histon we’re relevant for three seasons but then disappeared again and last I heard they’d lost 8-0 to Ilkeston and are about six leagues below us or something. So yeah we’re a one club city which is just as well as we’d just cannibalise each other if there was more than one league club here.

We are wank at giving out away followings. Always have been.
Bafc police Twitter page is not bad, but nothing at all from Friday night.
I could have counted the Morecambe fans, but thats not the point. We should publish them. It’s shockingly bad.

What do you think is the reason for not giving them out? Can't be bothered, or something more Machiavellian?

I honesty do not know. There is no logical reason. Other than been tinpot. I’ve decided to email the club today and ask them. I know other brewers that have done the same (to no avail ) but today is my turn to rattle their cage.
I tried counting the morecambe fans Friday but some dickhead decided to go for a piss whilst I was doing it…

Be interesting to see what, or if, you get an answer? I don't think the tinpot comment is necessarily the answer as the likes of Wednesday and Sunderland don't seem to be able to do it either!

Anyway,

900 sold for Sunderland on Saturday which is about 900 more than the players deserve.

Go and bum Hasselbaink then you twat. Burton are shit off the pitch. No boys. I ended up having to smack an old man
I heard 3 forest green fans wearing Barbour jackets and tweed took your town on Saturday. They steam rollered into weatherspoons and then starting windmilling outside the British legion club. Sadly your firm were nowhere to be seen, as there was a 2 for 1 deal at the local bowling alley, and the lads fancied some Pepsi’s and a few games of ten pin instead.

Yes no doubt most of United's 'younger' fans would have ended up as City fans had City managed to attain League status instead of United and it would have been United who would have just faded into insignificance.
Funny thing was City were always considered the bigger club with United the Johnny - come - lately upstarts.

Ironically it was someone in the backroom at Burton who first told me about the H&S and EFL rules several years ago. He didn't know why the club kept them secret either.

Thank god he has gone. Giving me a headache.
Gone to do his paper-round now.
He kind of made me laugh, with his ridiculous hard man act, that fooled nobody. He was so easy to wind up. Calling me a student takes the biscuit, I'm old enough to be a student's grandparent (just)!!!

The odd thing is, he mentioned a few incidents (as SP and previously as Lance Stoe) that I was at and they were real, but his memory of them is so far off the mark it makes me think that he had mental issues. Although I think he actually thought his versions were true!

I'm sure he's reading this, as a guest, seething that he can't reply, while shouting at the moon. I expect he'll be back under another name at some point.
