Brilliant that 949 made it to Shrewsbury with all the hassle with train cancellations etc.

Had to get a cab from Crewe myself.

Well done. Was a nightmare and felt for all you guys on our train.

I put this on our forum earlier…

Those of us that did do the trains and made it to the game can thank our lucky stars we weren’t Fulham, Charlton or Walsall fans:

8:38 departure from Euston. That wasn’t the train the Fulham’s fans wanted to get but their quick one to Preston for the 12:30 kick off was cancelled. Still they’d have a good forty minutes to get from the station to the ground. No problem, you’d have thought… We pulled into Preston about 50 minutes late, and ten minutes after kick off. I’m guessing they grabbed every available cab as there was virtually nothing out there waiting, as we’d shortly discover ourselves…

Then you have the Charlton fans who had plenty of time to make their game. Jump off at Wolverhampton and a train to Shrewsbury. One small problem. Fallen trees closed that route! Local cab companies probably made a killing there too.

As for Walsall fans, like us they were relying on a departure from Preston that would take them the rest of the way, via Lancaster. That train never happened, and there was no information as to whether the next scheduled one would either, so they really were screwed. We, at least had the expensive option of a cab to Morecambe, if you could find one, and were prepared to pay about £15-20 a head to get there, and could actually find a cab in the rank or a cab company that wasn’t saying “nothing till 2:30pm, pal”… I’m assuming those Saddlers fans gave up at that point.

As for the return journey, we made it back to Preston due to a benevolent Dons fan from Manchester with plenty of space, who dropped us at the station. Only the six and a half hours to get back to London and home
if we hadn’t won, I’d probably have yesterday down as one of the worst away day trips ever.

Oh, by the way, the reason Troy Parrott was on the train was that his self isolation finished yesterday and so he couldn’t travel up with the squad on Friday. Callum from the media team accompanied him, and the club had a car waiting for him at Preston. It’s not what you know it’s who you know sometimes
Any chance of getting their details for when this inevitably happens again?
;)

Spoke to a few MK fans on our train which was the 8.39 from Euston, which ended up having to terminate at Preston.

There was a poor young Walsall fan we were talking to and he didn’t know what was going on, the driver made so many announcements. We were originally terminating at Preston then the driver announced that we would now be going as far as Carlisle so he was chuffed only for the driver to announce 30 mins later that it would now be Preston again. Poor sod, wonder how he ended up getting on.

5 of us were lucky enough to get a taxi to Shrewsbury from Crewe at £25 a head.

Dreadful day topped off by a defeat in the 93rd minute

That's the train that we were on (from MK). I chatted to three Charlton lads plus a couple of Walsall fans trying (and ultimately failing) to get to Carlisle. We were also sat with a couple of Bromley fans looking to get to Wrexham in time to get a corporate meal of Coq au Vin before the game. Last seen heading for the taxi rank at Crewe.

I'm guessing that the Avanti 'delay repay' link will be busy today.

Our figure at Burton was 938.

The bigger question is what's wrong with these clubs who don't produce away (and in some cases home) attendance figures? I'm pretty sure it's an EFL requirement that they provide it to the EFL, and they must know that fans are interested in this sort of information, so I think it's really poor, and lazy, of the clubs in question!

Will try again to find out. Bafc police usually produce figures via Twitter, but have fell off a cliff lately. We are fucking useless at it and always have been.

Way more home supporters than they ever got at the old Plough Lane, even when they were in the top flight.

Wimbledon not sorted out their policing/away fans issues yet then?

We’ve just been given 1014 for the game on Boxing Day.

While they'll no doubt get more than they could fit into Kingsmeadow regularly from now on, the new ground bounce is likely a big reason for that.
Our crowds are more likely to increase. You could do with a stadium the size of ours!!

Looks as though 1,000 for the away end is all we'll be offering for a while. Seems the Safety Advisory Group and the club are still in talks about hard segregation and other stuff but not sure of the details. Disappointing and a shame all round but I would hope still a better view/option than Kingsmeadow.

It would have to go some to be worse than Kingsmeadow!

Selfishly, I’m not too bothered as I fall into priority phase 1 this morning, just a shame as we could/would have sold that two or three times over.

Bit of a contract between the figures from today's games...

Saturday 4th December 2021
Accrington Stanley 5-1 Fleetwood Town | 1,901 [321]
Sunderland 1-1 Oxford United | 26,634 [*]

Any Oxford fans know how many they had up in the North East today?

I've only seen a fan estimate of 450-500 but nothing official.

Re-arranged December game at short notice, three away games in a week, long long way, and Sunderland is no longer a novelty, so will undoubtably be the lowest away attendance of the season.

It looked a lot lot less than the 1,300 or so we've taken up there previously, so I'd say the 500 figure may be about right. Will pull our away average of 1,169 down a bit, but next weeks game at MK should boost it back up again.

I know Fleetwood are no giants but that seems very poor. It must only be about 45 minutes away? Surely one of there closest games.

Going off the Accrington chairman's twitter it seems they caused alot of trouble aswell.

215 Crewe? Where had that come from as we had definitely sold 250 pre match and some payed on the day. That seems like a big % of no shows. Looked more than 215 from the photos aswell.
In our league of hell we pre sold 1100 tickets for our game at Woking and the official figure - 889. :D
