I"ve been going the football since about 1973 and throughout the rest of the 70's I'm pretty sure typical away followings were nowhere near as large as nowadays although it was harder to tell back then as fans weren't segregated.
Many games at Crewe in that decade seemed to have next to no away supporters present, especially if a night game.
I found it difficult on my penny farthing

We’ve sold 2200 for Wednesday away on 29th and 1500 for MK next month. Decent going

Edit: Only went and thought this was the transfer thread didn't I...

But on topic, looks like Ipswich are bringing a load down to us in a few weeks. It's been a while since a truly large away attendance, perhaps we can sign a new striker with some of that...
We brought circa 5,500 in April 2019

I remember that match. You were very impressive and won 2-0.

I just checked the figures, Attendance: 15,851 (5,556 away)
Was a cracking game and put us on the edge of promotion. If i remember rightly Akinde scored a pen, then Andrade scored a cracker in front of the away fans!

Yeah, our second came after Gilks pulled off an absolute worldie. We went straight up the other end.
My daughter has a picture of the away support on her bedroom wall.

Sunderland still up there with the best away supports i've seen at Deepdale, if not the best.

Think it's when they won the league under Roy Keane, 6,000, deafening.

Aye they brought 6k down to us same season, belting numbers. Can't fault em.

Sold out most of ours this season so far but won't beat their numbers and doubt we will take 5k to Bolton

It depends - the maximum we give is 1,500 or so as we'll give blocks 6 and 7 of the Colin Farmer to away fans (as we did Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford and Plymouth). However, we won't sell them on the day, so it will be down to Wigan to request the others, and I assume only if you're pretty much guaranteed to sell the extra 400 or so.

Wigan.

Sold just over 2500 of 2800 allocation for Stoke (FA Cup). Tickets don't go on general sale until Wednesday.
Club requested more from Stoke apparently.

Don't think we took half of that in our Prem days.

1200 sold out at Wimbledon tonight, 2700 sold for Sheffield Wednesday this weekend and 4,000 sold for MK on the 12th. Pretty good going by us considering we’ve been a midtable side for 3 seasons

How did you manage to get 1200 for Wimbledon?

We got 1014 and when we asked for more we got given an extra 40!
