Thought it was still a decent turnout considering the weather, home league record, opposition (and lack of away numbers). It was the family area where numbers seemed to be very low, which isn't unusual for a midweek game.

Yeah i was expecting 7.5k myself as couldnt see many turning up from Morecambe. Hopefully all other home games should be higher until end of season as only 1 more Tuesday night (Donny) who should bring at least 1,000?

Definitely was , more than I was expecting.
As you mentioned elsewhere by you Luke the weather yet again looks horrible for the weekend, have Lincoln offended the weather gods or something? Will Wycombe favour far more than us.
Remember the last time we played them in 2018 , they were time wasting from the 1st minute!

The future is brighter because your previous owners wrote 38 million pounds off when you went into administration, at least you are happy attracting 9000 fans while you are second in the league

Despite our appalling home form we are still averaging 8k, be interesting to see how many renew in the summer .
Great atmosphere yesterday, really got behind the players yesterday.

Serious question for you Barrie, do you think we’re a big club?
No but given your resurrection and being 2nd in the table I would expect over 10k minimum

It's all comparative to population though. We are a town just over 100k with Man United Man City, Liverpool and Everton within about 20 miles. Then you've got a lot of other established clubs like Preston, Bolton etc close by so we aren't going to get many out of towners supporting us.

Add in to the fact in the 70/80s there was a migration of people from Liverpool and Manchester migrating out of town to Wigan and other places, there is a hell of lot of people who support those clubs still and their kids and grandkids support those 4 Prem clubs as a result.

The population of Sheffield and its catchment area directly split in 2 between Wednesday and United is over 4 times the size of Wigan, yet you got 22k at home to us, just over twice as many, so given the population comparisons I don't think a Sheffield Wednesday fan can really criticise as the same percentage of attending population would have Wednesday pushing 40k which clearly ain't happening.

Right so you don’t think we’re a big club, yet seem to think us pulling 9k home fans in arguably the most difficult catchment area in the country for third tier football is a poor effort? Sense makes none.

From a purely neutral perspective this is my take: I think Wigan's gates are good at the moment given their catchment area, their sub 2,000 gates of a couple of decades ago, their non -League roots and the notion that it's primarily a rugby town.
Their spell in the Prem and Cup win undoubtedly helped boost their fanbase and appeal so their gates today in 2022 remain healthy.
Sheffield Wednesday get excellent gates too but they are a big city club with many years spent in the too flight so they probably should be drawing over 20,000 in Div 3,which they do.
