We had Hussey at Cov for a few seasons and by God was he a liability.
Going forward not to bad and as someone mentioned above he can put in a decent ball, but it will be an avareage of one decent ball in out of twenty goes.
Defending wise, I don't know where to start. He's out of position constantly, he doesn't understand man marking or tracking back. I used to close my eyes when he defended and his pass backs to the keeper Stevie Wonder wouldn't try.
I miss Leon Clarke though, even though he's a gigantic bellend he knows where the net is.
Hussey was a great wing back for us in the conf. the main issue then was he couldn't head the ball.is a better winger than a defender. league 2 is his level.
Hussey played in the early games and looked a poor signing from Wilder.
He was OK going forward playing a 3-5-2 formation with attacking wing backs, mainly becuase his crossing was decent, however he looked a bit of a liability in defence and our fans were worried.
Fair play to Chris Wilder though, he was quickly dropped with another full back given a chance.
Our fans have commented that normally when a manager buys a player they stubbornly play them regardless of form but CW swallowed his pride and now Hussey is only a sub.
Clarke also started in early games and was difficult to assess. He played average/ OK as an individual, but his partnership with Billy Sharp looked poor, in fact Sharp looked a bit poor with Clarke in the team. Clarke looked the better of the 2 strikers, having more physical presence and getting into postions better altho he was guilty of missing several half chances.
Then he acquired an ankle injury and has been out for a few weeks. In that time his replacement has been Matt a Done who as an individual has been worse that Clarke but Sharps form has definitely improved in recent weeks as their partnership seems to be working.
Leon Clarke is expected to be fit in 1 to 2 weeks and the conundrum is
Do we bring him back? Our fans seem split on this. Individually he's better than Matt Done but
Done and Sharp have built up a decent understanding in recent weeks. Sharp looked out of sorts early season and struggled playing 2 up top with Clarke.
Yes, that seems to be the case.
However a lately we seem to be playing 2 up front and it's working well.
Also when Clarke did play he looked decent as a target man and good at holding up the ball.
This meant we tended to by-pass midfield a bit as it was tempting to go more long ball.
So although, no doubting Leon Clarke is a good player.
Many Blades don't think he'll fit into the current tactics of the team. We think that's he'll be a good option as sub when we chose to play 1 up front or to be used as plan B if we need to go more direct/ long ball.
